  • Jamahal Hill said some wacky stuff on his youtube channel after his loss to Alex Pereira. Do you think he's delusional or is he just trying to save face and regain some of his confidence? I still think he beats Rountree at UFC 303.

    Hill was afraid of Pereira's power from the very beginning, whatever else he had said. He was biting so hard on every feint. The fear of his power is what got hill fenced in further and further as well

    • @theeALister
      @theeALister Месяц назад +20

      I agree with this. I didn’t like how he essentially surrendered the cage the entire fight and it’s ultimately what led to his undoing. It’s the same way Izzy lost the first fight in the fifth round. He kept allowing Potan to position him against the cage.

    • @Eshayzbra96
      @Eshayzbra96 Месяц назад +33

      @@theeALister yeah and that's another thing, Alex isn't the type to back up unless you hurt him or you can surpass that fear much like Jiri did. So if you have it in your mind that Alex can smack you with that left hook you're already hyper focused on it, afraid to do much with your right hand, and when you don't capitalise on pressure Alex just leg kicks the fuck out of you.
      I'm not a fan of his but I don't care what anyone says, Izzy is Alex's only equal. Nevermind the Kickboxing losses, if you watch both of those fights they were evenly matched. Then in MMA, Alex was Izzy's most exciting fight. The fact that Izzy rocked Alex nearly to a TKO, the fact that Izzy actually wrestled with him and used his counter strikes against Alex. They're evenly matched because Izzy is as good a counter striker as Alex is a pressure fighter. So far Izzy is the only one who can read Poatan well enough to beat him.
      Hill had ZERO read on Alex, and Poatan was gonna KO win in any of the rounds 1, 2, 3 ,4 and 5, it was only a matter of time.

    • @theeALister
      @theeALister Месяц назад +5

      @@Eshayzbra96 Excellent analysis. Some might not share this POV but you are right and it’s why Izzy deserves even more credit for both of his (UFC) fights with Alex. The first fight was actually a masterful performance by Izzy through rounds 1-4. He made Alex look really normal throughout most of the contest. He just made the mistake of allowing a desperate Alex to close the distance and cut off the ring in the final round. He then made the adjustment in their second fight and was the aggressor, even though he ate some pretty brutal leg kicks in the process. I don’t think there is a striker that is sharp enough and powerful enough for Alex at LHW. It will take either a wrestler or age before Pereira surrenders that belt.

    Rangel Farias is pretty high level coach and is the owner of the gym I train at. He has had many sparring sessions with Pereira.
    Farias said that before them he thought that Pereira's defense was super bad and that his left hook was his main and strongest weapon.
    He changed his tune pretty quickly after those sessions.
    Farias told me that Alex simply doesn't give you a room to breath. That his defense is his timing and how he rolls with the punches. And that people have no idea how strong his right is.
    He keeps landing his left hooks because you feel his straight right and you realize how much power they have, so you forget about the left because now you're worried about his straight punch and boom.
    It's also worth notice that Pereira not only walked in with a broken toe on his right but also broke a toe on his left on his third low kick. That's why they were off and he stopped using them altogether.
    Hill was lucky that Pereira injured his right, Alex said that he fully intended to attack Hill's injured leg even tho it wasn't his lead leg.

    he will be lucky to beat roundtree, if he does, give him top 5 after that, rakic, reyes and blachowicz will all beat him.

    Jamahal did all that in the short period of time he was knocked out. IS he trying to say he lost because after the referee tried to stop, Alex threw a dirty punch? Comon Jamahal, you got your butt handed to you. You are still seeing stars. If the referee did not stop it, you would be in the ghost club.

    This is the problem with most fighters: denial
    Denial never allows you to grow.
    Because you don't see mistakes you've made.
    Also, this is why they have coaches, coaches that actually see how horrible the fight was and to make adjustments.

    It doesn't help people around him are publicly saying hes right and/or making excuses for him.
    The funniest thing to me is i remember him getting interviewed by Demetrious Johnson before this fight, he explained his gameplan was to go out there and brawl got told (politely) his gameplan was fucking stupid and instead he should try to outwrestle pereira and win that way... obviously he didnt try and wrestle pereira, but he didnt even follow his own fucking gameplan, its like he got in the cage and his mind took a nap until he left the octagon.

    • @AirLancer
      @AirLancer Месяц назад +1

      That's also one of the factors I really appreciate about Pereira. No salt, no complaining, no trying to puff up his ego. When he lost to Izzy, he just accepted it for what it was and moved on to the next fight instead of holding a petty grudge and coming up with corny one-liners. He doesn't spend time coming up with derisive nicknames for Izzy's fans like Izzy has for his (Poatards). He fights clean, doesn't need to resort to eye-poking every opponent like Jon "Ducking Aspinall" Jones.

  • @MegaGC8

    Alex’s really only got two weaknesses the ground game and when he’s striking on offense he can tend to leave himself open two things that haven’t really affected him much gl to whoever he fights next
