    Alex Pereira was a rubber worker in São Paulo, he had to repair heavy truck tires with a sledgehammer, he had to generate a lot of force in a small space and I'm sure that contributed a lot to his punching power.

The other guy's only chance was grappling and even said it himself before the fight, so Alex almost gave him a gift there, but Powell didn't have what it took anyways. Alex became more conservative once he got to the UFC (good thing).

      His specialty is his adaptability. He's one of the most adaptive fighters, he's learning all the time. If you follow his career he is almost always much better in rematches, he always makes good adjustments, always corrects mistakes. He came to the combat sport at only 21 and became the best, at 34 he came to another sport, adapted and again he is at the very top. It wouldn't surprise me if he starts wrestling at a good level or becomes a champion in the 3 weight class.

Straight after the headkick Powell puts his guard up on his right side as Poatan feints the left hook, leading Powell a split second later to walk directly into the ACTUAL committed left hook. Sequelas?

    • @Xoliduz
      @Xoliduz Год назад +8

      To throw any powerful strike first it starts in your footwork. For example a lead left hook like what Alex here likes you would first wind your hips up slightly left then, turn in your right knee and foot slightly to the right, creating tension between the knee and hips and planting yourself firmly in the ground this creates the corkscrew/bullwhip effect mentioned, as you release the corkscrew, you rotate the shoulder over and the 2 motions compound to generate power, this is the key. There are lots of ways to compound momentum to generate extra power. To hit someone with out using your legs and hips is to just hit them with your arm, what Alex does so well is he hits people with his entire body consistently, its very hard to hit that hard with a technical approach in competition, its unique to him a few others like Fizzy. Hope i helped a bit gl.
