Hello again... we soaked our beans overnight and cooked this dish today in an Instant Pot.
You will be pleased to hear that it turned out great and that we really enjoyed it with a little rice and roti.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the recipe but next time we will make slight adjustments to accommodate our personal taste. We will add a little more Red Chilli Powder to make it hotter and reduce the pressure cooking time to 25 minutes as our beans were just a little too soft.

Which color of cumin seed are you using?
I use brown color cumin seeds for all Indian cooking.
Can I use canned kidney beans? If so, how does the timing/recipe change? Thanks!
Yes, you can use canned kidney beans in this recipe. I suggest cooking for 6 minutes on manual high pressure. Also, if you want to do pot-in-pot rice with them, choose white rice. Brown rice takes much longer to cook. Hope you enjoy it!
Is the vent on venting ?
The vent will be on sealing mode in this recipe.
How much is 1.25 cups ?
It is 1 1/4 cup (312 gms). The recipe card hast the option for metric conversion.
