- On paper, the Fuji 16mm f2.8 for the XT4 isn't very exciting for vlogging. It's not really wide enough, and not very fast. But it is super light, and apparently it has the latest autofocus motors in there, so is it a good lens for video. Let's test it out!

The Fuji pops to focusing on the background at odd, random times -- even with you looking right at the camera. What is it seeing? Ghosts? Did you turn on Ghost-detect AF again???? How many times have I told you *NOT* to do that in suburban Toronto!!!!

Great video as usual! Really wish this was an f2 lens. Guess I have to wait for the Viltrox 13 f1.4, but it will be big.
Now that I got used to A7SIII, I think the fuji gets REALLY close is dynamic range and general quality and much cheaper. But, dang, that A7SIII video is flawless, especially the slow-mo. I'm ready for some R6 action. All I want from R6 is being able to record for an hour in 4k, that's all I want. I'll frickin stay with canon (for now) if r6 can record for an hour.
It well might after another firmware update or two. I hope Canon gets that together because the R6 is a really nice camera overall.
Tony woulda vlogged with the new Fuji 50mm 1.0.
I think this was the best lens (for your style) so far. Enough toneh for me, great colors and autofocus was 9/10 if you consider the a7siii 10/10. Keep up the fantastic work on both channels.

I very much like the 16mm 2.8!
In sony to quick switch between still and movie, you use the camera in photo mode and just press the movie record to both start recording and switch modes. It jumps right back to photo when recording ends

On Fuji I use +2 -1 for static vlog on 18-55mm and I select "area" for movie AF mode.. I set the box on the center or where my face can be so when it doesn't detect the face the AF system doens't look around like when using "multi" settings, maybe that was the focusing problem when turning the head. (of course doesn't happens on Sony, more reliable at default settings)

I’ve tried the 16mm 2.8 but it was hunting like a pro, killed everything. Just like yours. BUT then I turned on BOOST MODE, and now it can’t even hunt my lazy old dog.

Tbh, these do seem like the right af settings. Oh and the 4k looks the same on RUclips for me on my bloody TV so 4k is definitely not worth it for RUclips if you upscale for the bandwidth increase.

I bought the samyang 18mm for my a7sii. It was pretty good @ afc. But the motor noise was too loud to use with a shot gun mic. So I got the 17-28mm tamron.
You need the 50mm f/1.0 for studio use.

The 16-55 f2.8 is the absolute best lens for the Fujifilm-X system. But it's also damn heavy.
Best for video too? I’m frustrated with my current Fuji lenses so if it’s the best for video I will purchase ASAP
@@natashanicole7408100% yes. It has linear autofocus motors that are smooth as butter! If you're planning on shooting video it's definitely the lens to have. They regularly go on sale for $900 so try not to pay more than that.

I have the samyang 18mm AF e-mount and it has usable autofocus even on my a7ii, so I'd definitely try it on the better bodies. The only downside is that the AF motor is pretty loud.
That stabilizer setting was a definite improvement. Fuji color/contrast and sharpness were definitely better than the samy. Would have been interesting to see how the prime would’ve stacked up to the 16 -50 kit zoom at tony2.8.

I like the Fuji lens. It has a nice natural look, not over saturated. Good skin tones. I'm a 2k fan. If you're going for 'keep my face in focus' and add some good toney, 1080 seems to me the way to go. I agree that it could be a little wider, but if you don't point it out I really don't notice.
You seem to be happier and more productive and your humour is sharper and funnier, that’s perhaps an effect of Fuji love . I had a new 16 but I traded it in on a second hand XF18 and I’m glad I did although having purchased the 16 1.4 I have to say that lens is magic. The 16 2.8 looked great but I’m sure I saw it take at least one breath in your video. If your going to say 2k, for 1080p and replace aperture fstop I would like to get one thing straight if only for a moment the 16 2.8 is a cupcake, not a pancake. 🤪 Overall it looks like a great lens for vlogging cause it’s light and it has incredibly smooth focus motors but I remember a video when that lens first came out being criticized because you can’t fit it with gear very well to allow for a horizontal focusing knob... how the hell can anyone be happy, ha ha...? I would get it again but my adapted vintage Pentax Auto 110 16mm fixed 2.8 is just as much fun, especially for walking around the city, making it what I would say is an idea “urban environmental photography lens”... so much fun and simple, just make sure for any vintage glass that your adaption settings are correct to avoid linear distortion.
on my test. 1080p has more noise, more aliasing (I'm not sure about autofocus) with the same bitrate (200Mbps). So now I'm skeptical about the 1080p.

I also got the Viltrox 23 mm f1.4 and Fuji 16-80 kit lens. Man.. you are the real RUclips I have seen so far. Just to clarify, you don’t try to be sober (if you really are not) on RUclips . Many things to learn from you, except slangs.. 😂😂 love your content . Take care buddy.

What Are You On About sigma f1.4 at 30mm and 56mm are both light. I am sure a 16mm f2 can be pretty light.
Focus and stabe were good. Color and contrast great, so much better than the Sammy.

16mm is not wide enough but the colors and contrast are very nice. Definitely needs more toneh and the autofocus lost your face countless times. Fuji autofocus is near the bottom. The 12mm toneh 2 is much nicer looking for vlogging. But this is all irrelevant because nothing even comes close to the Sony A7SIII and the 20mm toneh 1.8. Its painful to watch these videos now. Help us!
Give the Fuji 14mm tony f2.8 lens a try. Might be the one.

You're using the Fuji in Boost mode while testing auto focus right. It makes a big difference.

I think the 16 2.8 is the current best vlog talking lens. (Other than a zoom for grabbing action scenes)
Fuji just announced more mark 2 lenses, the 10-24 remake and the 27 remake. Hopefully people buy these so fuji is encouraged to make more mark 2 lenses. Would love a mark 2 14mm for vlogs. Or a fuji 12mm.

Also the whole segment looked great, you seemed to be in focus the whole time and the background was pleasing. Not GoPro flat but not super Toneh either.
Sorry to tell you but I do have the Samyang 18mm 2.8 and I use it on the Sony A7iii. NEVER had any autofocus troubles. I think your issues come from using a Fuji LOL
Guys, the SAMYANG 16MM 2.0 MF is a perfevt lens, it beats some of my Fujilenses, no joke. Only downside, it's frontheavy and bulky
