Best looking vlog in a long time. 18mm is a great focal length. I have the 16mm 1.4 and it is a great lens, but the autofocus is a tad slow. The 18mm 1.4 with the linear motor may be better for decisive moment street photography. Waiting for the word from the conspirator.
Love the 18mm F2 because of its lightness and personally wished for an update instead of the 1.4. But with the upcoming 33mm f1.4, Fuji paves the way for the XH-2. New sensor and processor combined with fast focusing primes will (hopefully) bring their autofocus to Canon/Sony level.
If you put that 18mm on an x-s10 and feel how light it is, you might have to write a new theme song for this channel. "I finally found the perfect ca-mer-ahhhhh".

I bought the Fuji 18mm f2 brand new from EBay sent from the glorious Philippines for the bargain price of 292 Canadian roubles. It was just to good to pass up. I had my reservations, was it fake? Was it broken? NO! It was perfect, even came with the hood cap. ;-)
YESSSS!!!!!!! Nothing beats a Saturday Morning Camera Conspiracy episode. The ONLY way to top this off is to have a Saturday Morning Vegetable Police episode. I RESPECT your love for the XT-4. all the footage I see off that camera is epic. I got a sigma 35mm 1.4 art as my first lens. HOWEVER, I did get the sigma EF to E adapter because I have some OLD EF KIT lenses. they are NOISY. however the image off of them I swear is superior. everything looks like exactly how I remember the 1980's : perfect.
Those Fuji colors are magical. I bought a full frame camera yet still prefer using the fuji. The fun of using the camera and the colors. The 18mm f1.4 looks optical perfect, just the focus breathing from minimum focus.
Oh, the everlasting full-frame-dream... I hope that I will never put myself in the position to jump on full-frame just because "pros" use them. Our world is divided enough and there are way too many "standards" that are just tools in different forms, that do the SAME JOB, eventually. :) They build the house. Just in different ways...
one thing the 18mm length is really close up on your face with a gorillapod or switchpod. Even the 16 is a little too close for my taste. I really like the 15 zoom for vlogging lately and hope they make a new 14mm. That new 10-24 is tempting me.
Always nice to know if you are using or planning to buy a hobo lens, you know pay peanuts cry once... As an owner of a Samyang 18 2,8 I should know... use my Sony 28 2.8 instead....
The Sony A7s III matches it, but it’s over $5,000. For a family camera I recommend the Fuji 100v, Fuji xs-10, Fuji x-t30, 23mm f2, 35mmf2, 50mm f2, 18-55 mm 2.8-4

I got lost early on -- which scenes are done with 18mm f1.4, and which ones are with 18mm f2.0? Or was it all 18mm f2.0? In that case, it's brilliant, and why would you want a heavy f1.4 for vlogging?
So now you have to buy "pro mist" filters to dirty (i mean blurry) the 1000 dollar super sharp lens glass ? the 1/2 IS too much, 1/4 is at limit, distracting at times. 1/8 likely the sweet spot like a vintage lens

You look so much better using the 18mm vs 16mm. It's a much more natural image and representation. I don't think Fuji 16mm has much potential as a portrait lens, but 18mm has me very curious. I'm going to have to try it in the shop, thanks for the review.

The 35mm is the most used prime and they won’t release a new modern one at 1.4 or 1.2 and they keep bringing out weird stuff like this. The 35 1.4 is small and light, they could easily bump it up to 1.2 and keep it small. Meanwhile we get a huge 50mm f1 etc.
i know a lot of people have been waiting for this lens for a long time. 18mm prime purists i guess. I'm personally not getting it b/c i already have the 18-55 and the 16-55 and i like the 16 1.4 and may buy one day. the 18 1.4 just isn't for me. but for others they will love it.

What I really want is a 17 mm f.095 lens. Why? Because Fuji doesn't have one....yet. Wait and see. Fuji has 16mm...they have 18mm...why is it that they hate the 17mm lens? Could it be that they are afraid of the number 17? What if Fuji went full out and built every mm prime lens from 6 to 100mm with every single focal length for each lens. That means an almost infinite amount of lenses.....perfect to keep Fuji in business forever! And that allows me to keep my addiction to buying lenses going.....forever!
Ken Rockwell says Fuji use a DSP on the sensor that only optimises for Fuji lenses so if you like to adapt vintage lenses don’t get Fuji… Vloggers probably need autofocus so they need modern Fuji lenses anyway, but if you were planning on getting that leaded glass Leica 3d pop with a Leica m lens, forget Fuji.
OK Fuji. You proved that you could make the best 18mm f/1.4 lens in the world but it is huge! How about you just give us a water resistant pancake 18mm f/2 for street shooting on our X-E4 cameras or make an X80 camera?
If you buy the 18mm f2, then you get more beer. But if you buy the 16mm f1.4, then you can assure yourself that pros always buy the widest lens because they're pros and they know they're pros.
SO: Fuji is a dream, in image quality terms, but the poor IBIS and autofocus while filming, is a "no, thanks, maybe another time" kind of deal. I would def buy a X-T30 II for photography and stuff.
My 18mm f2 makes the camera freeze a few seconds later if i use continuos focus. All my other fuji lenses are fine (27mm and 33mm). I recommend this lens if you plan to only use single focus mode.
