- One of two new US MRE Menus, this is arguably one of the best vegetarian single meal rations. Replacing Creamy Spinach Fettucine, it's a huge upgrade.
It's giving a vegetarian option to the coveted Chicken Burrito Bowl, but now anyone can eat it.
Also making a delectable hot peanut butter brownie milkshake and check out the newest formula to the FS Cran Raspberry fruit energy bar.
There's a place called MRE Empire that is top tier.

Bart runs it, say hi to Bart and give him some good business. Tell him Steve sent ya.
Also check out Meal Kit Supply they are better than ever with freeze dried coffee in every menu and the menu lineup is lookin pretty good.

His stomach rejects any food less than 5 years old
Exactly what is he thinking this is more dangerous then all his past chinese rations he tried
it's not a PLA ration he's good
His body needs botulism to function
I love that he eats these like actual people would. He looks for ways to combine things, and imagines what dudes in the field might try to do with it when they’re on the third, fifth, and seventh one - when the novelty is gone and they’re starting to pine for something to shake it up.
I've made milkshakes and smoothies from the contents of an MRE. Foodgenuity is a real thing. Makes me feel like I'm a Gordon Ramsay of the MRE 😂

Steve could make literally anything sound like the most delicious, flavorful meal you've ever tasted.
Funny you said that because this can of spaghettios tastes like tomato soup with noodles in it... What? I'm not Steve!
I know right? I'd actually like to try this one. Some of them i'm kind of like i'd pass but he still brings out the positives in even the worst MRE while being entirely factual.
I just watched the Russian prisoner meal, god himself could not make that sound tasty...
those who know know its vad bad bad food lol
I don't even think Steve can make Vomlette sound good
That cran-raspberry bar is the holy grail item in an MRE. They are incredible. Which they sold them in stores.
Love your videos!
I really want to try that powdered hot sauce.

I came looking for this comment. So awesome.
Aside from the upbeat and grateful way Steve eats the MREs, his method of combining the individual snacks into something more interesting makes you appreciate that necessity is the mother of invention. I've no doubt that the millions of soldiers across the World are all thinking of their own preparation methods and combinations to boost their morale a little while on deployment.
Considering that some of the mains aren't necessarily as great as this one, it's good that the packs have the kind of variety that let's you make the best out of it.
@@dethkruzerYeah having extra components that you can use as either a snack or to mix up the mains even more than the standard variety helps a ton. It can also make a dish that you dislike better or at least more palatable.
I've learned things from watching Steve that I've used in the field. The protein drink and the coffee cappuccino are definitely god tier mixes
Imagine getting different packs from your friends and trading stuff to make new dishes
That's awesome dude. I'm glad that combo is a consistent way to improve your MREs.@@trumpet112
I gotta say from a Army Vet's perspective I was impressed when you revealed a few of the tricks we do when making the MRE's "better" by adding different things to them. The peanut butter packages are always a hot commodity out in the field because of their vesatility and nutrition value. Thanks as always Steve, I have enjoyed every video of yours over the years and they always bring me back to the time when I was a fresh 19 year old pup just getting my feet wet in the middle of places I never dreamed I would ever be in.
Even prisoners do stuff like this. Human ingenuity.
These modern MREs are just as interesting as your reviews of older ones. Extremely interesting to see the evolution these rations go through. A very important, but often underappreciated part of the military!
I mean has always done modern ones as well. Just he tends to review rare or unique ones since he has allready done all the basic American MREs. Regardless it's allways a treat when he uploads!

The honey and onion pretzel nuggets are available through Snyders of Hanover, Pretzel Pete's, and through local smaller suppliers for "Country Store" outlets online and in food-producing areas.
They're pretty tasty. They also have a peanut-butter filled variety that are clearly a "sometime treat" because after the first five or six, you won't want any more for a day or three.
The Xylitol sweetener in the chewing gum helps prevent tooth decay by starving out the tooth decay bacteria, but ALSO it will help MOVE THAT MEAL because it's kind of a laxative.
Thanks, Steve. I just got laid off last week and have been feeling sorry for myself. Then you go and drop two videos. Your positive attitude is infectious. Thanks for helping me through a tough time.
Every day is better with a new video from Steve. My buddy and I were sitting in the park. I opened a can of Coke, and said "Listen to that hiss." A guy sitting nearby turned and said "Nice!" We all had a good laugh together. Thanks for allowing us to make a new friend.

Nice to see how MREs are steadily improving over the years. This one looks pretty dang tasty. I'm very intrigued by the powdered hot sauce, too. I thought it was going to be just cayenne powder, but no. I guess it lasts longer that way, but I do miss the wee bottles. They were cute.
Looks very similar to Tajin.
They actually brought the little tobasco bottles back. I was really excited when I pulled one because I always loved them too. The 2023 lineup comes with a little tobasco bottle, a packet of crushed red pepper, or this powdered hot sauce, at least based on the cases I got
@@metalmaniac1415 really they should just make the powder hot sauce standard in the Acc pack. I always carried my own black pepper and sugar packets because they refused to include it, and it sounds like they are reducing the salt now even more as well. I like my food peppered and my coffee sweet. :p
The powder form if I remember correctly was the most superior form of additives for the Mexican stew. Absolutely bursting in flavor.
@@redwolfexr I think part of that is because the rice and bean main has an entire gram of salt in it already.

Honestly looks like an enjoyable meal. Better than most school lunches in the US, I'd wager.
I mean, the military gets far better funding than ya'll's education system no?
Who am I to speak tho, we don't have school lunches up here... Parents have to pack their own
Maybe my home life was sad but I liked school lunches. Eating at home with my Mom was fake chicken in the 90s before that was popular and eating at home with my Dad/Step Mom was less pleasant then that. She denies it but once we went to my Moms for Thanksgiving and she said "look it's a tofu turkey, it jiggles!" And jiggled this disgusting log at us. Even frito pie and things at school I didn't like were better then that. I'll eat a half baked rectangle pizza slice any day of the week compared to that.
I looked it up, and my local prison gave their prisoners the exact same lunches we got in school. Fuckers really we’re treating us like inmates! XD
It's hard to f*** up rice and beans.. looks really good though 😋
Much better, trust me.
This spread of provisions is truly a feast for the senses. The main course captivates with its sheer delight, while the introduction of the new powdered hot sauce adds a touch of culinary magic that is nothing short of fantastic.
Thank you for staying consistent and never changing for anyone. Keep that up, big fan!
I feel sorry for all the guys who just loved the Spinach Fettuccine. They’re going to be sooo upset. All three of them!
I am one of those 3! I am livid! Can't stand green chilies, so this new main is entirely bust for me.
I actually did enjoy that one, don’t get all the hate
We need one more to make the trio!
I don't get the hate either. It was fine hot or cold and the extras were always decent.
I know one of them. He used to "reluctantly" take it and got extra sides from the guys for taking one for the team.
My boy has been consistent this year! Thank you so much brotha.
It’s so comforting to always be able to come back to your videos. Thank you 🧡

I had this same #14 recently. It came with a chocolate First Strike bar, a mini tobasco, tortillas and cheese spread. A little different, but really good for the veggie mre

when going on a mission somewhere, is it common to exchange MREs with allies? Which one did you like the most?
@@cellardoor9882
I wouldn't say it's common, but if you're sharing a FOB or something (at the very least bivouac in the immediate area), small trades happen.
The Australian Army's MRE's are really good! They were the most memorable for me. Pacific Allies always had the best modern MRE's, imo.

The only Chanel on this platform, that I look forward to the New Videos. Thanks for all you Do Steve.
So happy to see you back, Steve. This MRE sounds really good for the vegetarians!
I’ll be thinking about this during lunch later
I had the Spinach Fettucine MRE recently and it was actually really good. I also picked up this MRE to keep in my truck for emergencies to replace the older one, which I replace every few months. I would love it if they offered the original chocolate covered cookie bar they used to have back in the late 80's, early 90's instead of the energy bar they offer now.
As a mechanic we always got the last pick of chow and I never minded this one. Just pour all the S&P in there with the Tabasco and down the hatch.
So, where can you get these MRE's nowadays without paying an arm and a leg?
@@gregggoss2210 I get mine from either my local military surplus store or my local airsoft store.
@dragnridr05 , the last real army/navy store in my area was I Goldbergs, and they closed years ago. I used to be able to get B rations there ( in the early 80's). I used them when I went camping. Don't know of any other army/navy stores in the area now. (NJ)
They still have military surplus stores? Haven't seen one in ages. @@dragnridr05

The fact that this meal didn't include tortillas and jalapeno cheese spread is a real shame. Would have been a perfect pairing
You actually manage to make these things look like real food 😂. Good job man
This explains sooo much! My 1st husband made breakfast for the 2 of us back in the 70s. It included eggs made with paprika, oregano, every other spice in tha cabinet, cheese, and peanut butter toast. Oh! Instant coffee. Didn't realize he was a professional chef by this standard!

His content still makes me feel so at ease or relaxed to this day. Feels like I'm just chilling with an old mate while he eats some questionable things.
His iron will and stomach can turn what seems to be a heinous meal to a 4-5 star dish worthy of your time.
Steve, thank you for putting out such great content!
Always great seeing these videos
Great to have you again sir! Imho the predecesor (fettuccine) wasn’t too bad. But it is good to see routines are changed once in a while. Btw. I think the energy bar is bendable because it is darn fresh - not because they changed the composition…😉💯👍
I just realized that, components-wise, there's no significant alteration between Menu #14 when it was the Fettucine compared to Menu #14 Rice and Bean Bowl (aside from the salt being reduced and the pepper flakes in the Fettucine being replaced by the powdered hot sauce but considering we saw powdered Tapatio in the CCAR prototype, the swap does make sense as the MREs are being improved upon), but here, combining the components like the crackers and pretzel nuggets enhances the Rice and Bean Bowl from an already good entree to a really solid meal, while combining the same components with the Fettucine just barely made it palatable, it really goes to show how the quality and flavor of an entree can either ruin or enhance the meal experience.
I'm a big fan of your content. It's simple, it's wholesome and it gives a brief look into the daily lives of troops from around the world. I don't need a story. I don't need complexity. You're showcasing a hobby that you really enjoy and I get to enjoy it through you.
