Interesting to see how the tools are all grouped together. As a veteran I wanted to tell you that your channel helps a lot, not only for the injured vets but also for vets like me (with only a few deep scars that I can mostly cope with). The knowledge that you help our brothers and sisters is a great comfort and I can see why it works with your style of teaching, I think. Woodworking is a great release from those darker places we share. So please keep up the good work.
After watching your dovetail video a year ago I ended up purchasing all of these except the offset. Basically, I thought... here is a guy who has it figured out and why try to replicate this method with inferior tools and/or process? You are a great teacher and from what I can see you are a stand up guy. If anyone balks at the prices just know that you are buying lifetime tools - besides wear items. Can a guy do the same thing with less expensive tools? Yes. Will it increase the learning curve? Probably. Will you be supporting a group of people who dedicate their lives to the knowledge of others while supporting a family business? Most likely not. If I were less fortunate, I would just save up longer - it is worth it. Good list for sure.
This is only my 2nd video of yours that I have watched after discovering your channel. All I can say is, now I am even more excited about doing wood working! ...and even more so in learning about your work with vets, as my son is one of the many disabled veterans out there. Awesome job on your part. Thank you so much!
It turns out I have all of these products - I lost track of how many things I have purchased from you! However, the one product that was NOT on your list that really surprised me was the AdjuSTAR. I bought one for my WoodRiver 5-1/2 plane and was shocked at the magnitude of the improvement! SO. MUCH. BETTER! I recently purchased a WR 4-1/2 smoother and was appalled at how awful the adjustment knob was. I had forgotten what the original wheel was like. Okay, Cosman Crew (meaning, all of us who watch Rob on RUclips): the AdjuSTAR should be on the Top Ten. Buy one as a treat for yourself. I *promise* you will end up buying more of them, which should put them on the 2023 list! (I mean, how many dovetail saws do you need? Okay, maybe two… depending on the work you do.) Thank you, Rob (and extended family, including Luther, Ken, and the rest), for all your work and all the help you provide people like me, who you have never met.
Agree with the plane and Japanese saw comments but the chisel comments only apply if you use your method of scribing a single line otherwise it does not matter and on big mortices not having straight sides can be a big advantage .
If we’re going by quantity of items sold it makes sense that the cheaper items would hold the top spots. As good as the Cosman saws are, they won’t sell as many as the plane wax because of cost. It would be interesting to see the list based on how much money it made to see if it is any different.
This is exactly what I was gonna say. Rob seemed surprised on a few of these, but I agree that it's more about things the average guy can afford. Take myself for instance, as much as I'd love to have the Cosman saws, I can afford the plane wax. 😉 Those low budget items are a good entry point for the average guy to say "I own Cosman stuff".
@@RobCosmanWoodworking I think it’s the uniqueness combined with the affordability of the item. The Shawn shim and the dovetail marking saw are good examples, really great tools. Everything else I had gotten or already had through other sources ….Honerite, the same fret saw, the DT markers I made long ago, etc. I think your Moxon vise hardware kit edges out every other one out there including making one from scratch. It was well thought out and I plan on getting it. Manufacturing and sales is always a competitive world no matter how small or big. The one thing you really have in this market that only a handful do is your ability to teach and communicate a very detailed trade while keeping the pace going. Your presentation and continuous innovation on tools and techniques is quite honestly the best there is.
I would love to see several videos on how you guys produce your tools and getting to know the people that create them. Thanks for everything you and your team do Rob.
My respect for you just jumped 50 fold. I've enjoyed your woodworking videos but had no clue you were so involved with veterans. Thanks for everyone's service and thanks Rob for showing them the respect they deserve.
Your web site says "no US orders on Wood River Planes". Not sure what's up with that, but I was going to ask if I drove to your shop, could I buy a Cosmanized Wood river 5 1/2 Jack Plane and bring it back home. I live in Alaska. Then I looked at the map on your website. You're east of Maine!!! MAINE!! Have you ever considered moving closer to Alaska? It's a great place.......
So, I just happened to catch the live feed from a year or more back about the planes refurb or restore. Anyway where you took a million plane qujestions and when you showed us the 10-1/4 I though to myself "That's how your bench plane handles should work for the shooting board!" There must be a reason why that's a bad idea or it would be in the works already. But it sure looks to me like it would work.
Interesting what is most popular. I bought 6 of the 10. A couple I did not buy was because I already purchased the item from LN. Waiting for your panel saw.
Hey Rob! Idea? Make a version II, 10 through 20 2nd most popular items purchased. # 11 should be the Adjustar ! Which I was surprised was not in the top 10.
Wow. I recently purchased 6 of these top 10. I love all of them. I’m really surprised that the WoodRiver 5 ½ isn’t in the top ten but maybe that is due to cost or even availability. Very soon I will be teaching my friend how to cut dovetails on a hope chest he wants to make for his daughter for Christmas. It will be his first furniture project and first dovetails so I’m excited to teach/show him the Cosman method!
Three of four years ago, when i was trying to make my work bench, there were many unknowns (i was new to hobby woodworking), Luckily came across your videos on it first time. Those videos had all the answers i needed. That it when i believed that there are some good hearted and caring woodworking teachers out there. Thanks Rob Cosman.
Thank you and your welcome as I have each item on the list that I believe is the best out there to use for their designed purpose. Interesting video thanks for sharing. Take care.
Request/Suggestion: I've see you compare/contrast different planes and plane blades to the WoodCraft. How about compare/contrast DoveTail saws? Try not to be to bias, but why is yours better than Rockler/LeiNelson/HomeDepot/Harbor Freight etc.
Hey when you mentioned your office it kind of threw me for a second. I was having a bit of hard time picturing you in an office. That is of course unless it has a floor of ice. 😉
Numero Uno Cosman product will in MY shop? Hockey tape!!! I’ve wrapped the handles of every dang tool in my shop in hockey tape! I even hockey-taped my wife’s vacuum cleaner handle! (Just kidding, guys. For me, it’s actually almost a tie between the Cosman dovetail saw and the Cosman Sharpening system. Between the best dovetail saw on the planet and the ability to make my chisels and planes sharper than I could have ever imagined, my hand tool woodworking g has vaulted not just to “the next level” as you say, Rob, but at least TWO levels!) FWIW, I have all 10 items. Not boasting, just a fact. These tools/accessories have made my hand tool woodworking an absolute joy. There are other sites and channels that sell some good stuff and a lot of junk, but the Cosman shop products are solid gold across the board.

where is the link to kevin burrus' website?
On our website under “other stuff”

Great comments….thanks
I have everything except #1&2, along with many more of your tools. Beautifully made tools that are a pleasure to use!

As a whole, they would be near the top, but because they’re broke into 3 different product variations they fell just short.

You guys are spot on. I am not sure the profit idea would be a good measurement. Need to think on that

Greetings from the BIG SKY. It's incredibly difficult to find knowledge of woodworking around here without this venue.
Is that Montana?
I would love to see several videos on how you guys produce your tools and getting to know the people that create them. Thanks for everything you and your team do Rob.
My Cosman Bench top is actually built with two pieces of 1.5 inch MDF since my supplier didn't have 1 inch thick at the time. Works great.
That is a great solution
Would have thought the adjustar would be on that list. Turns a plane into a far better tool.
I suspect that is because it has not been out a full year yet.
The Shawn Shim is #3. So very cool. “The” Shawn 😎
You, are biased!!!!!
Maybe lol
Thank you Shawn, love my shim👍
My respect for you just jumped 50 fold. I've enjoyed your woodworking videos but had no clue you were so involved with veterans. Thanks for everyone's service and thanks Rob for showing them the respect they deserve.
Check out our Purple Heart Project. We love Vets
Trying to track down Kevin Burris. Didn’t see a link and a Google search is unsuccessful.

Rob I want to thank you for all that you do. By using the tools you suggest I have improved my hand tools skills. Thanks so much.
I am so glad we were able to help get you to the next level
Interesting what is most popular. I bought 6 of the 10. A couple I did not buy was because I already purchased the item from LN. Waiting for your panel saw.
Hey Rob your hair dye is looking ok.
haven't watched the vieo yet but I rank adjutstars #1. However they rank I did my part to put them there. They are on all of my bplanes.
Idk how I missed this but found it
best sellers are the lower cost items
No Adjust Star??
Your purple heart program is so inspiring to patriots of all free nations
Hey Rob!
Idea? Make a version II, 10 through 20 2nd most popular items purchased.
# 11 should be the Adjustar ! Which I was surprised was not in the top 10.
I might fo that
Thanks
Well that’s interesting! This year I purchased the dovetail saw and just a few days ago ordered the marking knife and offset shim. All great stuff!
Thanks for supporting us
All ten are top choices. BTW, Do you use a shoe horn to tuck the hair under that hat or what? Does the wind resistance slow you down on the ice?
My wife says it make me look younger?????
What, no Adjustar? That thing is fantastic.
I need to buy a few of those
I love mine.
I think its because it has not been out for a year yet
I love my Cosman dovetail saw!
Im still waiting for the Hockey tape band-aids.
Coming soon
that's interesting. Over the past year I've order about $1500 worth of merchandise and the only thing on the top 10 list was the wax. lol
Well I have 9 other items you should buy
@@RobCosmanWoodworking do you have something to help me plane the edge of a board square to the face?
adjustar figure would have been #1 adjustar is a game changer!
I think it will make next years list
I thought the adjustar had a place among these ten items. It's such a great invention...
It hasnt been out a full 12 months so should make next yeRs list
Rob you’re the best. Thank you so much for teaching us all
Thank you for watching our channel. It helps a lot

I suspect the 5-1.2 is not in there because we cannot sell them into the U.S.
Awesome! The audio levels are now even between segments! Kudos to the editor!
It really at the filming audio level not editing. But thanks we were trying hard to get everything fixed

I love how involved so many of the vets have become in product design and production.
So do I
Thank you and your welcome as I have each item on the list that I believe is the best out there to use for their designed purpose. Interesting video thanks for sharing. Take care.
Thanks Kent...are you still on the road?

Rob has covered these questions multiple times over the past 2 years.
We try to stay away from doing a head to head review of the tools we make. Of course I would pick my own tool
I really thought your saws would have taken the first few spots
We ranked them by quantity sold. No surprise that the lower cost items sold a lot
Hey when you mentioned your office it kind of threw me for a second. I was having a bit of hard time picturing you in an office. That is of course unless it has a floor of ice. 😉

Rob, she does like it!
Hey Rob are we going for the hippe look lol
we are trying it out
