You may be right, but some tests have shown that might not help, as airflow is different. Down or up doesn't seem to affect MPG much, either way. But a tailgate down might help with trap speed. Anyway, an interesting hypothesis.

C8 is ugly. Too foreign-looking. Can't question it's superb performance, though. The C6 was a better looking Corvette; much cleaner lines and uncluttered rear-end. I acknowledge that beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder.
