Yeah I bought the retrax cover for my f150 about 5 years ago and didn't realize they came with T slot rails for mounting options. So just upgraded the rails and I just have to make final adjustments. This is the only video on RUclips I can find where someone is upgrading rails on retrax
I've had the same cover on my Tundra for a couple of years. I have an adjustable rack on top, with a rooftop tent, some traction boards, and a shovel. This bedcover is great. Not 100% water proof though, and if it rains heavy for a few hours, everything inside is going to get wet.
With mine only the part closest to the tailgate in a super heavy downpour will get a little wet. Definitely not drenched. Might check your weather proof strips. Thanks for watching!
Super cool video! This really helped me confirm that the Retrax is the right tonneau cover for me to put on my Tremor as well. Been looking for a t-rail solution for a bed rack. Your video is about the PRO XR (aluminum), but do you have any experience with the ONE XR (polycarbonate) version?
@@TremorTrails Thanks again for your review video. Because of it, I went ahead and got Retrax ONE XR. Aside from being made of polycarbonate instead of aluminum, the slats are a lot narrower than the PRO. But the rails and box are the same (aluminum) between the two. So the only real difference in functionality is the static load that can be placed on the closed cover. I think it’s 200lbs for the ONE and 500lbs for the PRO. But that’s only for weight directly on the cover. Both can hold the same load on the rails so bed racks aren’t a problem. I did notice that the aluminum rails and box get a lot hotter to the touch when parked in the sun compared to slightly less hot polycarbonate slats. Not sure that means anything for the cargo below. Thanks again - and Retrax should send you a commission check.
Personally, I'm going with a Diamondback cover so I get vastly better security and completely dust and waterproof. Also, depending on which model you get, you can put up to 1600lbs of equipment on top! The downside is if you mount crossbars and a RTT you can't open it and can only gain access to your bed using the tailgate. When you don't have an RTT, or something else on the rack, you can flip up either side to gain access. This was my second option though, nice build.
This is my temporary bed rack. I have a custom one on the way. With a diamondback I wouldn't be able to get access to back of truck towards cab. Thanks for watching 👀

Yeah, I ordered the one without the rails and need to swap them out for the Yakima rack. You made it it look easy.
Definitely not that hard. Hardest part was removing canister and make sure I was square with tape measure. Honestly took about an hour.

how much were the rails? wondering if it's cheaper to buy the regular cover and then order the rails vs buying the retraxpro xr?

I personally have never owned the polycarbonate one. I love the aluminum. I would assume it holds up well just not sure about waterproof on it.
