    Ford used to offer a bzillion individual options. CEO said to simplify and reduce costs they bundled options in 2024. Thus we cannot order Torsen or auto 4wd without the 11k package.
    Unfortunately consumer isn't seeing these cost savings.

      I have been a Tremor fan boy since the launch. The removal of the Torsen front end ended that. I am thinking about buying a used Lariat with a 3:73 locking rear axle and having a Torsen front axel added and putting on a lift, wheels and tires. I’d still come out $$$ ahead over buying a new Tremor. Sure, I won’t have trail turn assist, and a few other options, but I’ve off roaded 40 years without them anyway.

      Cost savings TO THEM while charging us more. I am sure the unions have something to do with the price. I have heard some crazy numbers I can't believe but there def. is a union tax we pay at the end of the day. Supposedly UAW labor cost range from $60-70 hour, again not sure how many assembly line workers really make that or what.

    To answer the question about whether a 4A transfer case being weaker.
    It depends. The Raptor transfer case is pretty bespoke in that it uses a clutch system (not truly locking) for the torque on demand mode (4Auto). It has a separate traditional gear and chain system for the 4hi and 4lo modes (truly locked).
    I'll use the ram 1500 as a different example. This could have been updated, but I believe there were 2 transfer case options. The BW44-44 (4A) and the BW44-45 (traditional part time). To my understanding the bw44-44 does not truly lock even in 4hi and 4lo in the same way that the BW44-45 does as it also uses some form of clutch system. I think what rams use now are the BW48-11 and BW48-12. The 11 is clutch based and not truly locking, the 12 is fully locking. The TRX has a BW48-13 but from what I have read is just a full time version of the 48-11
    If it has clutches then friction plates can overheat and fade compromising the system.

    • @Captain-Awesome
      @Captain-Awesome 20 дней назад

      I took my 2020 Raptor out in the snow in 4auto. After about 15 minutes of parking lot drifting the system overheated. I live in Texas so we see limited snow. I was not beating the crap out of it but long slow drifts and a couple 4wheel donuts. I tried 4 high later after it cooled down and the same thing happened, overheated the system. I was not real impressed considering it’s a Raptor but they all turn off 4auto and 4HI at 65 mph. I guess it’s not a system meant for high speed work.

    You guys hit the nail on the head when mentioned that the payload and tow capacity well exceed that of the Raptor. It doesn't have the same degree of off-road capability, but those of us who use trucks as travel trailer tow vehicles are willing to compromise. The deal breaker IMHO is that you cannot get the PowerBoost engine AND Pro Power onboard with 120V and 240V outlets to use as generators in the Tremor. I understand that the extra weight with batteries reduces tow capacity, but come on. That would have been an ideal camping tow vehicle for some of us.

    Coming from a first gen Raptor (loved that truck, had it for almost 12 years) I recently picked up a ‘24 Tremor with the 401a package….i really wanted the 5.0, but there were none to be found in my end of the country this close to year end. With that said, the 3.5 is a fantastic engine, less the V8 soundtrack…..more complexity, which I’m a little uneasy bout in the long term, but there are plenty of uber high mileage 3.5 EBs around that have been relatively trouble free so fingers crossed. Apart from that, I find that the 401a package has pretty much everything that I would want. Personally, I didn’t want the moonroof, funky tailgate or anything else that the higher spec package has….would’ve liked the modular front bumper. But even the seats in the 401a are very nice….cloth centre section with vinyl sides/back. Added the bed utility pkg with step, spray in box liner and tonneau….that’s it. And, I took full advantage of the year end incentives which meant almost $15K off up here in Canuckistan….made the price much more palatable.
    I’d go as far as saying that the Tremor (especially with the V8) is the spiritual successor of the first gen Raptor without the (as) insane prices of the current gen Raptors.

  • @yentrader
    @yentrader 6 месяцев назад +2

    I passed on the Tremor specifically because I wanted the Torsen but not the 402a package. The Torsen was a $500 stand alone option for’23 but for’24 you have to opt for an $11,000 package to get it. Way to go Ford. 🤬

    multi function tailgates are the best new feature for trucks in decades, esp if you have a topper, otherwise you need a bedslide. leveling kits are stupid, unless you want to drive around with an empty bed all the time. as soon as you put a load in the bed or tow something your rear is squatting too much and your headlites are blasting oncoming traffic. this is why trucks used for work are higher in the back. otherwise buy a maverick hybrid to commute in.

    F150's NEEEEDDDD their front sway bars disconnected to not suck offroad. Since they only have a front bar, it completely controls the dynamics of the truck. My F150 rode like complete crap offroad with the front bar connected, head bob city, and then would be smooth as butter with it disconnected.
    The other thing that hugely helped was a rear Hellwig sway bar. It helped counter the stiffness of the front bar and made the truck much smoother offroad.

    Nice truck! Nice review! Two questions. Do you know, would this fully loaded Tremor drive as smooth and comfortably on the highway as the Platinum with its dampeners or the Platinum FX4 that loses those dampeners but apparently gains better quality leafs and suspension? Just gathering info now, will make final decision later. I will say this. Depending on how close the Tremor is to the Platinum in terms of a smooth, comfortable highway drive, I would get the fully loaded Tremor in a second if it came with the Powerboost engine as an option in 2025. I read somewhere that it will. Fingers crossed. Do you know if it will?

      I bought a Model 3, but it was a terrible vehicle. I just dropped it off at the salvage yard and got a F550 instead, much better.

      @@Cloud30000sounds like what most people would do! I mean who wouldn’t swap a model 3 ( I mean drop it off at the salvage yard) for a 550! Most believable story I’ve read yet!
