    Hello everyone, in this 2nd video we will test the Salty 747 development version like we did the B78X. We will test the VNAV and complete the arrival and approach into EHAM by doing an ILS approach to RW 27, Enjoy!

    Very nice video series my friend. Thank you for your efforts. I captured an ILS approach for the first time while following along! Perhaps I was waiting too late before to engage the APP button. Not sure, this aircraft still needs some fine tuning for sure, but it is fun to try to tame her. Cheers

    This salty mod 747 8i is so buggy, but I love 747 so much. I literally spend an hour creating a spread sheet for each SID, STAR, and APPROACH where I list every single waypoint's altitude, speed and altitude restrictions, vertical speed multipliers for the various waypoints complete with flap schedules! Then, when I actually fly all I have to do is go down the spreadsheet list of waypoints and make whatever necessary adjustments with each passing waypoint. I can literally manually fly a vertical profile as if I were the vnav computer myself using this labor intensive method. But I can only enjoy the outside views during the replay as I have to constantly update the vs and switch between excel and the sim throughout the descent.

    • @TheSimPilot
      @TheSimPilot  2 года назад +1

      You're truly dedicated, I don't have such patience and even a default aircraft shouldn't be released without at least working systems to fly. Unfortunate but hopefully we will get a payware 747 this year.

    • @fobypawz418
      @fobypawz418 2 года назад

      @@TheSimPilot yeah if they can least have vnav implemented well that will reduce a majority of the workload as there's already so many other task we need to do during the descent phase of flight. But another easier more practical way is doing the traditional step down approach using 3 degree descent and just adjust the altitude hold for each successive restriction which I assume is what real world pilots do when there is no automated system, it definitely allows for more free time to do atc communications and other procedures while the plane is still meeting speed and altitude requirements, its just there's going to be alot of descending and leveling offs throughout the descent phase of the flight.

    • @TheSimPilot
      @TheSimPilot  2 года назад +1

      Just my thoughts, it's not fun to fly an aircraft without VNAV by yourself where in real world it's a two person job.

    • @fobypawz418
      @fobypawz418 2 года назад

      @@TheSimPilot yeah that is probably one of the biggest challenges for creating a truly immersive sim, if only they could create a co-pilot that we could mitigate tasks to which would also add to the immersion as you are correct, many of these larger aircraft require two or more pilots to operate safely! Imagine trying to fly the Concorde solo! Lol

    Hi Man, Nice videos you have. I have been struggling. The fms calculates my decent to be about 20nm before destination and this is at FL200. Is there a way i can add my own decent way point?

    • @TheSimPilot
      @TheSimPilot  Год назад

      20 nm from destination is too short to descent on time. Are you using the latest development version? What I do is calculate the difference between altitude like if I need to descent down to 2000ft for approach and I am at 20.000ft that's 18.000 ft difference. Multiply it by 3 that's 54.000 divide by 1000 that's 54 and add 10. That's 64 O start my descent at 64 miles from the airport. The 10 miles I've added is usually the distance from final fix to runway. After couple tries you should be able to find tone this calculation. I use the FIX page to add a fix with a 64 NM radius this displays the point of descent on the ND
