My uncle has HIV and has lived with it since the late eighties. I loved this chat ❤. Its mindblowing hearing how things were.. I was born in the 90s and due to section 28 being in place while I was at school I had no proper information on the LGBTQ+ community or HIV/AIDS til I was an adult! So awful that they put that in place to silence people. I only learnt about it watching interviews with the writers of Its A Sin a couple of years ago on youtube!! So conversations like this are really important to educate people of my era.

great advise for anyone living with a chronic illness: make friends with it. Otherwise, you have to spend your whole life unavoidably attached to an enemy.
Luckily, your country doesn’t require very expensive insurance every month in order to get the medication. In the US you either have a job and pay for insurance out of every paycheck to get the medication or you have to be homeless and the government will provide the medication. If you are in between jobs and have no insurance you can’t even get the medication. The drugs cost upwards of $3000 to $4000 a month. Something has to be done about this!

It’s heartbreaking to see how traumatised he is over the profound loss of life he witnessed. I know entire friendship groups and families were decimated. And he was there, and part of those groups, left with survivors guilt. My grandparents all survived WWII (we are Jewish). They saw and suffered the same way. It never left them.

So you don’t think lgbt exist outside of the US? In Africa you can get killed for openly expressing it which I believe is what’s going on there as well. Same sex practices and sleeping with the women as well so babies being born with it, also add “vaccines”

The meds we have today, reverse the virus, I was on meds for 8 months before I became "undetectable" meaning if I have a blood test today to test for HIV they wouldn't even be able to tell I have it, I also cannot pass it on to anyone via sexual activity.

Can anyone explain to me how the older gentleman is still alive as when he was diagnosed they said it was a death sentence as no meds like today ?
Im not an expert but There are drugs now which can minimise the amount of HIV in your system which means you can't pass it others either
