11 Important Details Pilots Notice While Flying As Passengers
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 ноя 2024
- Hey, why’s the plane shaking?! Relax, it’s just an air pocket! You’re lucky - there’s a pilot next to you, flying as a passenger. They know much more about flights than you do, so a bit of turbulence won’t make them move a muscle. But if they start worrying about ice on the windows or sniffing the air for some reason, well, that’s when you should pay attention!
The thing is that no doors can prevent odors from traveling around. Some smells, such as superheated bleed air, fuel, or hydraulic fluid, are easily recognizable for a professional. And pilots know all too well that such scents can hint that there are some problems with the fuel-storage systems or the engine.

SUMMARY:
If the flight is during the day, an experienced pilot always pays attention to the angle between the plane window and the light coming through. They know that any difference in this angle means that the aircraft has suddenly changed direction.
When a pilot is flying a plane, they can understand that everything's going as it should just by listening to the sounds the plane's making. A bizarre, unfamiliar sound is an obvious sign that something's gone wrong.
When a plane is about to descend below 10,000 ft, the cockpit crew levels the plane. The pilot in a passenger seat can't but imagine this procedure and go through the checklist as well.
Most frequent flyers don't pay attention to the safety information presented by flight attendants, including the location of emergency exits. Pilots fly way more than any regular traveler, but they always check where those exits are.
Some passengers get paralyzed with fear at the first signs of turbulence, but pilots don't care about some bumpy road: turbulence is unlikely to cause an accident.
When a pilot hears the cockpit crew announcing, "We're now flying through an air pocket," they immediately realize that the plane is about to be jostled up and down due to some turbulence.
Pilots are well aware of how important the passengers' combined weight and their distribution are for the plane's balance.
The sounds you hear in the cabin during the flight have their own meaning. Flight attendants know each "ding's" interpretation by heart.
Flight attendants know that you should be particularly careful with headrests, seat pockets, tray tables, and seat belts! Experiments showed that one-third of all seat belts had yeast and mold on them.
Unlike the average passenger, flight attendants always know where the nearest bathroom is.

Hey guys! Where did you have your best traveling experience?
I still haven't travelled out of my state.
Almaty to astana... Kazakhstan
Maybe port blair in india
I am also an Indian
When i was going to the Pakistan 🇵🇰
3/4 percent of the plane was empty 😅
The way he smacks the guy for freaking out during turbulence 😆
Thought that too. Too me turbulence is fun - like a roller coaster. I know not many people think it is because of what's happening but once you know about what it is you wont fear it!
Down Under Customs yeah I love it, sadly they tend to avoid it if they can
Lmeo
Lol ikr super funny
Oml I would smack him to
I love the pilot’s “subtle” eye movements 😂
TheSunnyEdge nobody’s panicking here!
You mean like 3:51?

In india 35 - 45 years men are look like this man

Off-duty pilots don't like to let people know that they're pilots.

He won't let you know that
@@812rachit 😂😂😂
@@812rachit Actually, I am. However, I am not a commercial pilot.
Why?
4:40 Right, passengers who are not relaxed should get slapped by the pilot
The dude literally slaps the other dude
WHAT?!!
What
That’s not true
Haha very funny
Like in "Aeroplane "!
Should be called "Reasons to freak out on your next flight"
I agree with you
Lol totally agree with you🤣🤣🤣🤣
Exactly that’s what I thought
I rather be blissfully in the dark except for the part about exactly where to walk to get to the exits.
Agree, in a few weeks i am going for my first time in a plane so it’s pretty scary but also pretty exciting.
I’m a pilot who flys as a passenger frequently. This video is spot on for the most part. I would have to point out that the deice fluid only tacks care of ice that has already formed on the ground. The plane has its own deice equipment while airborne but there are limitations on what it can do. Pilots will do what they can to not loiter in icing conditions.
How to know you’re sitting next to a pilot: tell them the story of a plane dropping 100 feet, if they slap you for over exaggerating, they’re a pilot.... or they’re your dad.
easiest way to tell they brought there own headphones and the mystery adapter fro the flight and there probably wearing bose noise canceling headphones at that
😂😂😂
Christopher Moore I like this😂😂🤣🤣🤣
But my dad is getting the milk
you dont have to know they will tell u yourself "i am a pilot"
Passenger: *scared
Pilot passenger: *slaps*
I laugh so hard😂
This is so funny
😂 😂 😂
Hahahahah
Lol😆😆😆

That man: have lights
Also that man: casually walk far from the exit
I was on a plane when I was a tiny kid with my family. Our takeoff had been delayed because of some problem with the plane. The delay kept being pushed back farther and farther until people started to get sketched out and were getting off. Since then my dad has told me that my mother asked him if we should get off too. Apparently he had noticed a pilot sitting near us somehow. He told her "if he gets off, we get off." Haha
“Sketched out??”🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤔
@@westaussie965 get sketched out is when people realise something is suspicious or suspect something is suspicious.
8:10 “Yup, that’s a three-dinger” 😂
I’d say pilots and experienced aviation enthusiasts understand most things. I’m no pilot but I understand all the noises a plane makes, the different dings, bank angles etc. - I’m often the one calming other passengers by explaining that this noise is the APU, gear retraction, or the powering down and up of engines during flight is normal, that circling is normal, that turbulence isn’t a concern if you’re buckled in and so on.
Heck, I’m a general aviation pilot and I know all of these. I’ve worked for the airlines out on the ramp too.
Hopefully your knowledge might calm an anxious passenger down someday!
Admirable. 👌🏽
Hopefully you know some of this is wrong then.
Thanks guys! I want to work for the airlines again someday! Most of this stuff is correct! I’m a college student right now!
Daniel Baum How’s college during Coronvirus? And I hope you become a commercial pilot soon!
I laughed when the pilot passenger slapped the other passenger when talking about turbulence.
You mean 4:39
Not funny. Kind of mean I'd you ask me
So.,are you saying a pilot always travel among the passengers on a regular basis...
They do in fact. Just like doctors!
Not always, but quite frequently. We travel as passengers for multiple reasons. Most often it is for commuting purposes, to travel from home to our base (often called "jump seating"). But often we have to travel as part of work to meet another airplane at another location, or travel to our company training center for our required training events (called "deadheading").
@@jsmith1746 oh, I see, thank you for the valuable info...
We don’t level the plane when about to pass through 10,000ft. We slow to 250kts but only level if told by ATC.
We dont look at the ice on the windows.
So many dubious facts in this video
Totally agree...
Odd, whenever I've been on a plane, there was no code for turbulence. The pilot outright said, "Sorry, folks, we're going to be experiencing a little turbulence in a little bit, so please put your seatbelts on," or something like that. I don't remember what they've said word for word, but I do remember that they informed us about the turbulence without saying air pockets in place of it.
Yeah, I was on the plane this week and all they told us is it would get a little bumpy
@@kaylin_mendez0320 I guess it depends on the airlines.
awesome video
You realize these facts are not true do you?
@@Monoplayz they all make sense. Jupiter approves.
@@jupiter9049 bruhhh, I thought I posted this reply last week. It's already been a month... Time fly's by. Anyways, you do have a point.
That explains why the flight attendants were adamant on us spreading out and using the back seats and not just the front and middle.
The latest away flight I was on was about 15 minutes early upon landing.
That's typical. Most companies give each flight a "block" of time to work within. They have extra time in case they have to refuel last minute to avoid storms and whatnot. If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late.

Why am I watching this while I’m at the airport waiting for my flight to depart??.
A change in direction is NOTHING to worry about. We have planned routes on IFR flight plans (All airline flights are legally required to be on one) that aren't always straight because we are simply not the only plane in the sky and known weather. Those over the ocean also have planned flight paths to follow for the exact same reason. Very few flights are direct.
Why do you never show your face?🤔🤔
We NEED a face reveal!!!👍👍😆
Irene Huang yep

Yes😁😁😁
Correlating with your voice your face must be square with big eyes deep set in it. Right hopefully

Im going to sit next to a pilot that way when the plane crashes i die next to a pilot.
😁
...... *my mind has left the room*
Aand now there's even more reasons to be scared of flying...
I really appreciate the people behind so many informative and interesting things that they tell in videos... I'm sure the people would have got a lot of knowledge!! 😍
A new intro since 2019
So the pilots aren't relaxed even in vacation. We should thank them! 🙏
That’s an interesting map of the world. Where’s Britain??😂 0:43
Guy who drew up the map was an American😂
Also, the Panama canal got a bit wider...
@@154Kilroy its a video of planes not a geography video or a map of the world video
Right, but there is actually no reason to do this. It's unbelievably easy to find an accurate map. Besides, who in the business of making maps leaves out something like the U.K. anyways? Just seems a bit odd.

When you’re 4 months late
French Ferret This video posted 5 months ago for now.
my husband flew for the Air Force for over 20 years. No matter what happened when we were passengers I never worried if he was calm. He was always calm.
If he couldn't stay calm with bullets flying around or if his plane was shot he never would have been a fighter pilot. So just because he's calm doesn't mean everything's ok.
The nearest exit may be behind you. I always count the rows in front and behind me.
Seeing this on a flight ...wait what is this smell??
Lesson to be learnt:
Instead of getting a private pilot to come with you, just take your phone and downlaod bright sides videos
Is nobody gonna talk about the way that the pilot smacked the guys for freaking out in a turbulence 😂😂😂 I can't stop laughing
I’m not a pilot but have flown enough to know everything on here by observation.

What the fc
There is no DING after takeoff for the landing gear. The first ding is a double ding at 10,000 feet to indicate we are no longer sterile. A single ding is a passenger call button. Double after 10,000 feet is call front the pilot to flight attendants. Three can be flight attendant to flight attendant. 3 or 4 with red light is a backup line from pilot to flight attendant. Descending plane and double ding is going below 10,000 feet. Thats it.
Wow I'm the first one who like the video! Because I love this channel! :D
The background sound in a flight announcement is scary
Bright Side: naming things passenger pilots are "looking for".

I really liked this video and it surprisingly explained a lot about my last flight.
yeah ill remember this for my flight that starts in 10 minutes
I’m a captain for the airbus a380 and I fly as a passenger all the time, I don’t go around telling people I’m a pilot to start with and also I never pay attention to any of these things, but to be honest I much prefer flying in the cockpit

Thanks for the information 😊☺️!!
There's no such thing as an "air pocket", the correct term (or phrase) is "region or area in the flight path where is air is rough or turbulent"
Pilots don't tend to worry on aircraft, they are aware, not usually as on edge as this however. The most true one about this is the landing one, You end up judging landings and going through the checklist. You do notice off the bat if something is off.
who was follower of BRIGHT SIDE
before 2020?? 👍
I'm positive that a pilot isn't concerned the entire flight over the state of the route and aircraft. If they're off-duty, they're well aware that the pilots flying are just as capable as themselves.
You’re exactly correct. When I’m riding in the back I don’t worry much about how the flight crew is operating their aircraft. Especially if it’s a different company or airframe from the ones I operate.
The only thing I judge is their landing, lol.
I do however consider my escape route, can anticipate things such as turbulence, the “dings” and what they mean, and pay close attention to instructions and announcements from crew members.
So the video might be a little exaggerated but it’s fairly accurate.
4:03 lol, looks like they are talking in a not so kind language.
Yeah, they need to hut their yap.

Thank you so much for this video. It really helped us
Nobody is going to mention that the storm was literally above the sahara desert
Funny, interesting and useful! I wish your channel covered all topics in life in such wonderful way!
I feel like the Flight attendants are gonna disinfectant every seat from now on lol
Yep
They do that anyways...
Frequent flyer here. I sit by pilots all the time. They don't do any of this because they're usually asleep throughout the entire flight, turbulence and all.
Weird things I found in this vid:
“Ding”
A Boeing- BOING
Keep on doing the good work as I said I love your videos keep it up🤔🤔🤔🤔👀👀
4:39 that’s literally my mom 😂
Thanks for the information. I’m not an expert at flights anyway, but you helped me a lot!
I’m not a pilot I will choose what job I want to do with a few options.
My husband is a mechanic and has been for over 20 yrs. He was my comfort as frequent flyers and would always know what was going on. He would even go into the "flight deck" and assist the pilots with any technical issues. It came in handy having a Jet doctor on flight. They know the verbal codes as well
“boing” say it right man Boeing.
This is why I travel with my dad
What is ur dad going to do if a airplane crashes
This is full of wrong information. As an airline pilot for 21 years, i found this just wrong. They should have consulted some one before making this video.
Biggest thing I worry about as a passenger is over banking, but I've only got my Recreational Pilots License in Australia, I'm way off the experience and flight hours of a real pilot.
@@Mrsquiggley Every pilot have felt the same way as you when they start their flight training. You will get used to it in no time. So don’t worry 😊
