He really dislikes steve that much
I like the transformation in Kazuya's status, as he went from facing a potential ban to now being largely overlooked by people.
It's gone back and forth depending on how good his representation does. IMO the character has just enough of a skill floor that he'll never get banned, even though the stuff he does is completely unfair and feels like playing against a heavy sm4sh bayo except he kills off the side or with spikes rather than off the top. His bad jumpsquat is even sort of a foil to Bayo's mechanic where the endlag from her specials accumulates when she lands... it's a unique downside but not nearly enough to make up for all the BS.
I agree. Kazuya used to be GROSS, even in Amiibo tournaments(F**K ARMOR KNIGHT AMIIBO KAZUYA), but the balances were honestly more than appreciated. But, his pseudo wavedash..............no.

Yeah I’m like 90% sure I’ve seen this before. Even with Diddy in smash 4 being immune from grabs. I said it once and I’ll say it again. PUT SMASH 4 MIIS ON THIS LIST.

As a kid, I didn’t even realize how broken Meta Knight was. I was just a huge fan of his design and character and thought “cool spinny moves”

5:45 Just because the current "best" player is playing it doesnt mean it isnt in need of a ban. Let Japanese players slowly transform their meta into Steve and a couple other characters that have a less losing MU than others against Steve.
Acola is a great player. He was top 200 with Luigi. He didnt suddenly become the top player through skill alone. You can actively see in game when hes getting out played. It happens a lot during the short periods of time between 0-deaths. Steve is just a Kazuya with a trillion times the versatility.

Their combo routes are completely different but the result is the same, you get zero to deathed if they touch you half the time. But Steve can actually camp and has unique counterplay against zoners that Kazuya lacks.

IMO, partial bans aren't real bans. Regional bans in just one small region also don't count. I think only Meta Knight, where there was a period where a large number of events in many regions that banned him, counts... unless you want to also count Giga Bowser or Master Hand lmao
edit: forgot about the diddy glitch, boy that was a funny week. lots of people who hated the character jumped on that as an opportunity to get rid of a character they didn't like, but the fix getting patched so fast dashed their hopes 😆
I'm sorry larry I'd love it if that were the case but marss put it best as steve should either be banned everywhere or nowhere as this werid inbetween just makings rankings more confusing and is unnessessary. I think the best think to do is just ban steve at local events, and allow him everywhere else that way you can still play competitive while avoiding the events where he's legal. The best case scenerio would just be for him to be nerfed but that is never gonna happen. Also I'm seeing some people in the comments say brawl metaknight is cool what he's lame as shit and literally can just time people out what do you mean lmao.
brawl mk is cool for the person playing him :))) that's what a lot of these commenters are thinking. rose-tinted glasses from maining the character. it's also how sm4sh bayo mains think.

Ima be honest, idk why anyone would care if acola doesn’t show up to events because steve is banned. That hurts him more than it hurts the smash tournament.
I’m not even agreeing steve should be banned. But not banning steve because x player would not show up is dumb AF. Mkleo is the goat of ultimate but you could tell me joker is banned and so mkleo wont show up and it would hardly matter to me.
I believe it has to do with the ranking of the tournament.
