Lester I just turned 73 on April 21. I have had 20 surgeries in my life. I have 2 total knee replacement. I keep going! No reason to stop. Just do what you have too. ❤️
I just turned 65 2 weeks ago and at age 27 with 3 kids under 4 I got Lyme disease from a tick and fibromyalgia. I have not had a pain free day since but I do my best. I retired at 63. That’s as long as I could hold out as a RN. ❤️❤️❤️
As they say, old age never comes alone Lester, it brings along its relatives, the creaks and groans and aches and pains - but you’re not old yet Lester. It’s just your body has seen many years of hard, physical labor and that takes a toll. On a positive note, sometimes when you get more to some of our ages, you'll find we talk about and sometimes yep, we compare our aches and pains and we talk the weather, that’s can be a hot topic for us too, lol, so you are slowly being edged into future conversations that you may have with Jami, Dan & Lou, sister Kim, Tina & Rob, Jason at CogHill, etc, etc, because God willing, you will all reach that golden age of reaching ‘old’ one day, lol and when you reach it, you’ll have some experience in how to chit-chat over a nice cup of coffee...😊
Lester your people & her people pain & injuries are part of life. Went to my doctor today . I am 73 and have spondylosis, diabetes, osteoarthritis, acid reflux, back pain, HBP and abdominal aorta arteriosclerosis. It comes with the territory. You deal with & try to control it. But the good news is that I am here and try not to complain about the aches & pains. ❤❤
You are not alone Lester. All the work you do around the properties takes a toll. You won’t enjoy the PT after you’re surgery but you WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID IT!!

Oh Lester! This is life! A few years ago I had a freak accident. I was up on a little step stool hanging a picture. All of a sudden that little step stool broke and I fell straight down. My left arm hit the door and my right arm hit the side of the TV. Huge bruises! Little later I tripped and fell and hit the back of a chair with my left shoulder-now there's damage from the 2 falls. 90% tear of my rotator cuff. Surgery fixed it and I'm good now!!
My husband was 20 years older than me. While he was very ill, long term, the only time taking care of him got on my nerves or felt like a "burden", was the times he got into a "poor Me" spell, and whined & refused to do "anything". Good you're moving around & continuing to do things, it keeps your body moving. Now, accept help when it is offered, ask for help when you could use it. 😊
I like Golden Corral too. I haven’t been there in a long time either! I like their breakfast especially! Don’t be embarrassed! I love the vegetables as well!😊

I always say that I so wish I could tell my parents now "I understand." When I was in my 30's and they were in their 80's, I truly had no clue of their suffering that they spoke about on a regular basis. 😢
Lester I understand (I'm 70) as we get older we have pain popping up all over. Then when we drive or ride that pain hits harder. Then it takes a few days to recover from the road trip. Or overnight visits with family. Enjoy each day! One Day at a Time! Don't overdue it makes the pain worse. One has to know how much work to do at a time. And take a break😊❤❤

I'm glad the Golden Corral came through! The closest one to me is halfway to Atlanta! So it's been a great while for me, too. When I worked for the Mental Health agency here in Ga., I used to take the team for lunch there, birthdays, Fridays, etc. So affordable and delicious.

Shared road trips are one of my favourite things, Lester. Don't think of it as a disaster. Think of it as an adventure, and laugh when things don't go as planned. Life is far too short to let those things get you down. Enjoy the company of that amazing woman who loves you to the moon and back. Lester you getting older but that doesn't mean you LOOK old. It just means with all your aches and pains and your "extra gear" that you are one hell of a hard worker. I’m turning 55 this coming July. I’ve been through losing the love of my life in 2020 so terrible grief. Then I had a cancer spot on my pancreas and had half of my pancreas removed. No cancer now! BUT the last 4.5 years have taken their toll on my body. I literally feel myself slowing down and becoming “old”. I too have a bad shoulder, all kinds of aches and pains everywhere. So you are not alone. And Jami will love you forever Lester! Even when you are feeling your age kick your ass.
Idk if Atwoods puts Tractor Supply to shame.... I have shopped both, still shop both, just depends on what I need. 😅 Thanks for taking us along on the road trip. Don't worry about the brace. Those of us that are old enough get it... those that are not will soon enough! I'm Jamie's age and you aren't old.
Don't worry, lester! I always try telling my elderly neighbor - who's 86, and in so much better health than I am at barely 40, that it's got nothing to do with age anymore. ROFL! And that's why I always check online and make sure that stores are indeed open whenever I plan a trip outside. Glad the Golden Corral was at least open. Lunch looked really yummy!
Lester, don't be embarrassed, ashamed, or fearful. Your body has endured a lot in the past few years, including rebuilding your home at ISS, hauling 50# bags of feed & bales of hay (not light), building MANY fences (after digging MANY, MANY post holes with a heavy auger & manual post hole digger), etc.etc.etc. So, our bodies wear out over time, with that kind of constant "abuse". Even though it's sad, to feel like a "worn out pair of shoes", you should be PROUD of what you've accomplished. I'm sure Jami is proud of you, and isn't embarrassed/ashamed of your "slightly used" body! I tore my rotator cuff a few years ago, and even after surgery, 12 years later I have to sleep with a pillow & a rolled up towel, in my armpit, to keep my shoulder from "sagging"/hurting. It's hard for me to turn the steering wheel when going around a corner, when driving. So, I know how you feel. Good luck with your surgery, and, be aware that your shoulder still may not feel like it did when you were 30, but, God willing and a great surgeon, it should feel better & you should get many more "active" years with it. Can you imagine how much worse you shoulder might be, if you hadn't gotten that UFO when you did? Great purchase, Lester. Your shoulder thanks you!
Oh, Lester, getting older is definitely not for the faint of heart! I am 61 going on 62, and I swear each year it gets harder to get things done! I do wish I had the energy I had at 50! 🤔💖😉 Hopefully, the next time you folks head out, you can give us a proper tour. I don't think we have an Attwoods here in east Idaho. There is a small Tractor Supply in Pocatello, but mostly folks just head to Cal-Ranch for their farm supplies. 💖💖💖

My parents used to winter in Texas and they LOVED Golden Corral. They have both passed away now but this video brought back some wonderful memories for me, including physical limitations because they had some, too. I am 62 and am blessed to have none.
We used to have several Golden Corral restaurants in Minnesota. Now there are 2 in the metro area. We are getting a Tractor Supply store. I m looking forward to that. Lester ..it's your lucky day.😂

She's a beautiful gal! We used to have Golden Corral here in Iowa City, Iowa. But they closed it down in the late 80' or early 90's. So, we don't have that anymore, but it was a good place to eat! Lufkin is where our Church Organization has our camp grounds there. Golden Corral is good but cost more $ than I can eat. I went on a road trip up I-59/69 from Houston to Livingston to the Antique Emporium. It was fun.

Let me reassure you, Lester, the longer you wait to have your shoulder and knees fixed. My husband is 11 years older than me. But I am the one who had both knee replcements . I have had 2 neck surgeries they have replaced 5 verdabraes in my neck . And im only 59. Im very happy i got them fixed. It helped me work and be active, not in severe pain. it's great.
I so understand dealing with pain. I have chronic pain from a failed back surgery, amongst other issues. I'm the person that drives around in the summer with the air running & my heated seats on 😂. You do what you gotta do to remain comfortable!
Lester it's nothing to be ashamed of I need total knee replacement in both knees. And my left shoulder rotator cuff does the same as you it is so painful. The work you do is not easy work. It eventually takes its toll on you. Nothing to be ashamed of your hard-working man

Lester, where your arm brace we don’t care you need to have that to make your arm feel better. We all have our achy spots. Mine is my knee like your dad my knee just jams up when I sit down and then I have to start walking to get it going again And Ginger and Boswella are great help. I take it morning and night. It reduces inflammation. It really helps during the day so I can function. I’ve tried knee braces, but they just stiffen my leg but you have a nice arm brace. You should wear it to relieve the pressure. We love you just the way you are.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lester, Jami loves you and will be by your side no matter what. She has been through a lot already herself. You are there for each other. Have no fear, she is going to have her aches and pains too, and will need your support as well. Golden Corral is a good place to eat. I have only eaten at one when I visited friends in Oklahoma. That was my go to place to eat every evening.

I understand your situation with your rotator. I not only put a pillow under my arm as you do but slept with one to elevate shoulder. Once I had surgery it eventually was OK.

My middle daughter is turning 60 in 1 month, and she has had both her hips replaced in the last 9 months. She can out do any of us in the family. My son is 58 this year and 2 yrs ago he had to have his rotator cuff replaced as well as his bicep muscle reattached. But he’s doing fine. Your just a baby to me. You’ve got lots of years ahead. You work hard so you body shows it.
Our Golden Correll closed before 2020 and oh how I miss it. That is the place that i loved to take my mom to, to celebrate her birthday, she will be 99 in June.
Atwoods home office is in my hometown. My son In law was a buyer there before moving to Ft Worth with a job offer he couldnt refuse. So now my grand babies are Texans. I gotta say the lobster salad is my fav at the GC.
I will be 70 in July. My shoulder is so bad. It kills me to get in and out of clothes, the last time I went to the dr. he had to help me get my coat back on. Oh my, I will pray for you that yours doesn't get this bad.
I love you Lester for revealing the truth when we get older. She is 10 years younger that's a big deal when it comes to pain. That's why I had to stop everything I used to do, it even hurts driving in a car. I'm sure she appreciates it because I don't know any men that would do all this when they're dealing with pain and the frustration of getting older. Lester, everyone has aches and pains & you’re no exception. You injured your shoulder so you more than likely will always have issues with it. Wearing a brace doesn’t make you look old, it just shows that you’re a hard working man. You are still a very young looking 50 year old., you’re damn good looking and a true gentleman. You and Jami are very blessed to have each other. And I feel blessed to know you both (maybe not in person, but through the internet). I’ve been watching you from the beginning and to me you feel like family. Don’t downgrade yourself like that. I’ve had a hip replaced, several surgeries for different things, I have to wear a knee brace (torn meniscus) and a back brace (scoliosis & osteoarthritis), so seeing someone else wear a brace no matter their age seems perfectly normal to me. It just don’t matter. So keep on keeping on.
I'm your age, Lester. My poor husband has had to put up with me through 3 babies and having both my hips replaced. I'm staring down the barrel of dealing with arthritis in both thumbs and my knees. I'll bet my shoulders are next. My cartilage hates me, but my husband loves me. That's all I could ask for. ❤

Please please please consider doing to surgery. I’ve had three separate surgeries on both my shoulder and believe me…. If it were as painful a recovery as we would imagine I never would have had three of the surgeries. It really isn’t as bad as you imagine. If you can suffer with the no surgery pain you can handle the recovery pain. You can do it! I have faith and confidence in you. Pull out that man card. I get the shoulder thing- I had one shoulder replacement, 5 yrs ago and now my other one needs done, but I can’t get it done because I am taking care of my Mom. It’s hard doing manual labor when you are in pain. That antique store that was closed, looked really cool! Hope you had a good time regardless of everything being closed! Our Golden Corral’s food has gone downhill, I know you have lots of animals to care for ,but Lester you’ve got to get those shoulders taken care and your knees,don’t neglect let your health ,it get away from you faster than you realize. The older you get the slower and harder the recovery is . I’ve worked in healthcare for over 30 years and have to many surgeries myself, including rotator cuff surgery. Stay safe.
If you ever come to Pennsylvania, go to East Earl, which is near Lancaster & go to Shady Maple Smorgasbord!! If it’s your birthday, you get a free meal with a paying adult. My husband takes me there every year on my birthday for supper. It’s the largest smorgasbord in America & it is sooooo good!!

Shared road trips are one of my favourite things, Lester. Don't think of it as a disaster. Think of it as an adventure, and laugh when things don't go as planned. Lester you getting older but that doesn't mean you LOOK old. It just means with all your aches and pains and your "extra gear" that you are one hell of a hard worker. That you are NOT scared of working. Jami is PROUD of you just the way you are and you can see that.. I love golden corral we don’t have any of them around here anymore. They’ve all closed down in this area since Covid.

I’m turning 55 this coming July. I’ve been through losing the love of my life in 2020 so terrible grief. Then I had a cancer spot on my pancreas and had half of my pancreas removed. No cancer now! BUT the last 4.5 years have taken their toll on my body. I literally feel myself slowing down and becoming “old”. I too have a bad shoulder, all kinds of aches and pains everywhere. So you are not alone. And Jami will love you forever Lester! Even when you are feeling your age kick your ass.
Idk if Atwoods puts Tractor Supply to shame.... I have shopped both, still shop both, just depends on what I need. 😅 Thanks for taking us along on the road trip. Don't worry about the brace. Those of us that are old enough get it... those that are not will soon enough! I'm Jamie's age and you aren't old.

Get your shoulder repaired Lester…my husband has had both repaired. It takes a bit of time, but you have help for the animals.
Don't worry, lester! I always try telling my elderly neighbor - who's 86, and in so much better health than I am at barely 40, that it's got nothing to do with age anymore.

Lester, don't be embarrassed, ashamed, or fearful. Your body has endured a lot in the past few years, including rebuilding your home at ISS, hauling 50# bags of feed & bales of hay (not light), building MANY fences (after digging MANY, MANY post holes with a heavy auger & manual post hole digger), etc.etc.etc. So, our bodies wear out over time, with that kind of constant "abuse". Even though it's sad, to feel like a "worn out pair of shoes", you should be PROUD of what you've accomplished. I'm sure Jami is proud of you, and isn't embarrassed/ashamed of your "slightly used" body! I tore my rotator cuff a few years ago, and even after surgery, 12 years later I have to sleep with a pillow & a rolled up towel, in my armpit, to keep my shoulder from "sagging"/hurting. It's hard for me to turn the steering wheel when going around a corner, when driving. So, I know how you feel. Good luck with your surgery, and, be aware that your shoulder still may not feel like it did when you were 30, but, God willing and a great surgeon, it should feel better & you should get many more "active" years with it. Can you imagine how much worse you shoulder might be, if you hadn't gotten that UFO when you did? Great purchase, Lester. Your shoulder thanks you!

Oh, Lester, getting older is definitely not for the faint of heart! I am 61 going on 62, and I swear each year it gets harder to get things done! I do wish I had the energy I had at 50! 🤔💖😉
Hopefully, the next time you folks head out, you can give us a proper tour. I don't think we have an Attwoods here in east Idaho. There is a small Tractor Supply in Pocatello, but mostly folks just head to Cal-Ranch for their farm supplies. 💖💖💖

Oh, gosh, I've learned that I need to do what I am comfortable with and can't worry about what people think. It's kinda sad that I thought that I would get to travel more once my kids were grown ... never anticipating that I wouldnt want to anymore by that time!

When I performed with Storybook Theatre of Texas, we loved going to Lufkin. There are so many neat places in Texas to visit.
My parents used to winter in Texas and they LOVED Golden Corral. They have both passed away now but this video brought back some wonderful memories for me, including physical limitations because they had some, too. I am 62 and am blessed to have none.

We used to have Golden Corral here in Iowa City, Iowa. But they closed it down in the late 80' or early 90's. So, we don't have that anymore, but it was a good place to eat! Have a blessed evening! ❤
Lufkin is where our Church Organization has our camp grounds there. Golden Corral is good but cost more $ than I can eat. I went on a road trip up I-59/69 from Houston to Livingston to the Antique Emporium. It was fun.

Don't worry about having aches and pains, I've been strapping up parts of my body since I was 30 years old, and now at 60+ I have many more parts strapped up and often all at the same time these days 😂😂

Let me reassure you, Lester, the longer you wait to have your shoulder and knees fixed. My husband is 11 years older than me. But I am the one who had both knee replcements . I have had 2 neck surgeries they have replaced 5 verdabraes in my neck . And im only 59. Im very happy i got them fixed. It helped me work and be active, not in severe pain. it's great.
I so understand dealing with pain. I have chronic pain from a failed back surgery, amongst other issues. I'm the person that drives around in the summer with the air running & my heated seats on 😂. You do what you gotta do to remain comfortable!
Lester it's nothing to be ashamed of I need total knee replacement in both knees. And my left shoulder rotator cuff does the same as you it is so painful. The work you do is not easy work. It eventually takes its toll on you. Nothing to be ashamed of your hard-working man

Lester, where your arm brace we don’t care you need to have that to make your arm feel better. We all have our achy spots. Mine is my knee like your dad my knee just jams up when I sit down and then I have to start walking to get it going again And Ginger and Boswella are great help. I take it morning and night. It reduces inflammation. It really helps during the day so I can function. I’ve tried knee braces, but they just stiffen my leg but you have a nice arm brace. You should wear it to relieve the pressure. We love you just the way you are.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lester, Jami loves you and will be by your side no matter what. She has been through a lot already herself. You are there for each other. Have no fear, she is going to have her aches and pains too, and will need your support as well. Golden Corral is a good place to eat. I have only eaten at one when I visited friends in Oklahoma. That was my go to place to eat every evening.

Shoulder injuries are the worst! I broke a bone in mine a few years ago so I feel your pain.
Don't feel so bad Lester, I had both knees replaced in 2013 and both shoulders replaced in 2022.
Lester I love and miss the Golden Corral! While living in Round Rock we loved eating there. Boy I miss it.

I understand your situation with your rotator. I not only put a pillow under my arm as you do but slept with one to elevate shoulder. Once I had surgery it eventually was OK.
Lester, you do what you have to do to get through day by day. Please think about getting one of your shoulders done - it ain't gonna go away sweetie. Glad you got your fix for Golden Corral - I love that place too. Love you guys.

The Atwood’s in Lufkin is a new store they haven’t opened for business yet. The Atwood’s in Nacogdoches has been opened for several years.

My middle daughter is turning 60 in 1 month, and she has had both her hips replaced in the last 9 months. She can out do any of us in the family. My son is 58 this year and 2 yrs ago he had to have his rotator cuff replaced as well as his bicep muscle reattached. But he’s doing fine. Your just a baby to me. You’ve got lots of years ahead. You work hard so you body shows it.
Our Golden Correll closed before 2020 and oh how I miss it. That is the place that i loved to take my mom to, to celebrate her birthday, she will be 99 in June.

Atwoods home office is in my hometown. My son In law was a buyer there before moving to Ft Worth with a job offer he couldnt refuse. So now my grand babies are Texans. I gotta say the lobster salad is my fav at the GC.

I will be 70 in July. My shoulder is so bad. It kills me to get in and out of clothes, the last time I went to the dr. he had to help me get my coat back on. Oh my, I will pray for you that yours doesn't get this bad.
I love you Lester for revealing the truth when we get older. She is 10 years younger that's a big deal when it comes to pain. That's why I had to stop everything I used to do, it even hurts driving in a car. I'm sure she appreciates it because I don't know any men that would do all this when they're dealing with pain and the frustration of getting older. Lester, everyone has aches and pains & you’re no exception. You injured your shoulder so you more than likely will always have issues with it. Wearing a brace doesn’t make you look old, it just shows that you’re a hard working man. You are still a very young looking 50 year old., you’re damn good looking and a true gentleman. You and Jami are very blessed to have each other. And I feel blessed to know you both (maybe not in person, but through the internet). I’ve been watching you from the beginning and to me you feel like family. Don’t downgrade yourself like that.
I’ve had a hip replaced, several surgeries for different things, I have to wear a knee brace (torn meniscus) and a back brace (scoliosis & osteoarthritis), so seeing someone else wear a brace no matter their age seems perfectly normal to me. It just don’t matter. So keep on keeping on.
I'm your age, Lester. My poor husband has had to put up with me through 3 babies and having both my hips replaced. I'm staring down the barrel of dealing with arthritis in both thumbs and my knees. I'll bet my shoulders are next. My cartilage hates me, but my husband loves me. That's all I could ask for. ❤
My son is a truck driver and you wouldn't believe the traffic jams.

I know you suffer with your shoulder. It is a very painful thing. Please please please consider doing to surgery. I’ve had three separate surgeries on both my shoulder and believe me…. If it were as painful a recovery as we would imagine I never would have had three of the surgeries. It really isn’t as bad as you imagine. If you can suffer with the no surgery pain you can handle the recovery pain. You can do it! I have faith and confidence in you. Pull out that man card. I get the shoulder thing- I had one shoulder replacement, 5 yrs ago and now my other one needs done, but I can’t get it done because I am taking care of my Mom. It’s hard doing manual labor when you are in pain. That antique store that was closed, looked really cool! Hope you had a good time regardless of everything being closed! At least you got to eat at Golden Corral!

Our Golden Corral’s food has gone downhill, I know you have lots of animals to care for ,but Lester you’ve got to get those shoulders taken care and your knees,don’t neglect let your health ,it get away from you faster than you realize. The older you get the slower and harder the recovery is . I’ve worked in healthcare for over 30 years and have to many surgeries myself, including rotator cuff surgery. Stay safe.
If you ever come to Pennsylvania, go to East Earl, which is near Lancaster & go to Shady Maple Smorgasbord!! If it’s your birthday, you get a free meal with a paying adult. My husband takes me there every year on my birthday for supper. It’s the largest smorgasbord in America & it is sooooo good!!
