I stopped going when they started playing joe 90 and Hawaii 5 0 in late 74.I went back in 77 but it just for me wasn't the same so I kept my good memories and basically grew up and did the usual ..here it is 38 years later and i have started to reconnect with some ( and more daily) of my old casino buddies and its good to see just how many are still here ( considering how mad we all were back in those early days.)

@chloda123 theres 1000's of us who long forthe very same thing, i was lucky as a 16 year old to go around 1980 and it still lives with me along with the Music.

the track is What by Judy Street i think. i have it on 7". soft cell did good cover in 1982.

Bugger. I was born ten years too late, i reckon. Looks like this was a really great scene, and i'd love to have been in it. When i was young, there was mods, punks, goths, new romantics, and yes, even a few teds. Now....well, you know. Walking through town, we ended up behind a group of teenage girls, and i couldn't help wondering how one of their parents could tell their own child from the rest. Same hair, same jackets, same 'jeggings', same type of shoes. I don't think we'll ever see the likes of this sort of thing again. Sad.
Nowhere as good as The Mecca OR Cleethorpes!

yes people move on, but northern soul was a way of life and once in your blood it never goes away.the dancing was our adrenaline and the atmosphere electric.will never go away to true soulies.ktf

I still see quite a few of the dancers out n about Riggers the girl who worked in the laundry is a regular and still lives in the wigan area.. Along with the group David mentioned there is also I went to Wigan Casino FB group
there's a great night at moss bank labour club on st.helens every second sat in a month from 8 till 1 . lots of old faces and great music.
Does anyone know of any allnighters or good soul nights in Birmingham or near by. Let me know if anyone does, cheers !

@iRyeProductions Like the music....... but..Get involved in a current scene...... 'cos as someone who knows. The usual chicks don't like someone who dances better than them....and the "Nortern Scene", are nearly exclusively my age, or, much older
AND THAT my friends is exactly WHY our generation now is suffering and getting knee replacements...💯
Never in the field of human dancing was so much amphetamine consumed by so many at such a reasonable price.

What is the name of this documentary?
It's so long ago I don't remember I'm afraid. Think it was a Granada nostalgia programme. Sorry - that's all I can recall!
This England if I am correct, went to the first night of filming in I think March 1977. It was filmed over two nights, kept away the next time if you were there you know what I mean lights on all night, I stayed in Mr ms allnight.
