Hi Jezz, it's worth getting the adaptors so you can hook up some of these HT antenna's to a analyser, you could then make a tuned counterpoise for the band's you use, I have one I can clip to the base of some of my HT'S can make a big difference to the range of the hand held your using.

Just to let you know GB3DA has a very short hang time with no pip tone. Sounds like you were getting in!
I’ll find a higher spot and try again but not to bad so far for a handheld

Good idea I’ll invest in some adaptors and give the counter poise idea a try
