This is the best test video ever seen. So consistent and not just accuracy testing or expansion, you have a chronagraph too. Well done lad/bloke or whatever yall britsh ppl say
Good test to get exposure to different pellets. I have found however, some of the tested pellets do not necessarily perform well in other airguns than the one you used. In fact, some quite to the contrary. One needs to perform a similar test realtime with different pellets for each rifle to determine the preferred pellet. Thanks for your test. . . .very informative.
Hard to believe 7 years ago you did this. You haven’t gotten any prettier.😂👍 Good job though and very happy to say you have gotten much much better at it. Still funny as hell and your enthusiasm hasn’t diminished at all. Hope you can keep this up for another 7+ years. Take care and stay safe in these crazy times. Thank you for all you do for.
i bought Daisy precision max 350 ct. "slug" for about a dollar a piece, 2 slugs. when i got my Red Ryder yesterday, fired almost all the ammo not one jam, or misfire, broke in the lever nicely, holds a nice shot grouping, perfect pellet plink 👌
Well done Giles and crew , your results show that not only is the S400 MPR FT a great gun (i have an S400 carbine myself) but it is not pellet fussy to a great extent . I have experimented with different pellets myself to find the best for my own guns and suprise supriseapart from the daystate li's i have matching results . The one pellet i have found to be good in my case is the H&N Barracuda power .177 , this in the S400 and S410 TDR have proved to be accurate and hard hitting . daz
Experimenting with different pellets is can be fun and frustrating! Sometimes you can find some off the wall pellets that work remarkably well (those you buy up and hoard) and others that don't even make a good paperweight. Before I buy a rifle or pistol, I read the reviews and see what pellets the tester used. Then I either use that pellet or an equivalent to kind of develop a baseline, then start playing with light and heavier pellets. For what its worth, the one pellet that works well both in my rifles and pistols in 177 is the predator polymags or Gamo's plastic tipped pellet.
I'm using H & N slug pellets in 22 30 grain down to 20 grain out of a Hatsun Torpedo 150 under lever gas piston air rifle and its amazing. Right there with CCI quiet .22 LR except less drop at 75 yards. And right now much cheaper than .22LR.
8GoatCat8 And the FLY! How could you not interupt the tezt to potshot the damn fly? Actually, that maybe why it took over a week to do the test..damn flies.
An excellent video / test It may be an oldie (comparatively speaking) but it's still very relevant to todays shooting showing how important a good pellet choice is for a particular gun. My Rapid loves H&N FTT but my HW100 is far better with JSB.
The guy made a big mistake by taking the laser pointer onto the end of the tube. The perpendicularity of the flat end is not exact enough to do this, because even 0,01 mm failure can cause like 20 cm off the target. Hey, you should have just made a shot to find the right place for the target.
Great video! I am also testing some pellets with my air rifle and i found that some kinds of pellets group differently at different speeds. I think it would be better if you try to shoot these pellets with different speed and tell what are the best speeds for them. Best regards from Bulgaria.
Very nice sir. Nice info here. Yes, I use Falcon' Accuracy Plus, and I use them in a Marauder!!! And my Falcon FN-19 loves JSB RS!!! You'd think they'd like the opposite one right? Well, in all the years of shooting airguns, these are THE most accurate, in these guns... Great Channel, great info!
Want to know something incredulous, here in Canada that rifle would require the same license that a bolt action .308 or any center fire rifle, rimfire also. Any airgun firing a pellet at more than 500f/sec requires a PAL license, the same required to purchase ANY non restricted firearm.
That's your Good Old Government just keeping you safe from yourself up there in the cold Nort. Enjoy your, snow, snakehead fish, and your Asian arowana fish
It's time that these left leaning dictator's were thrown out , Europe , USA and Canada are all turning into dictatorships where everything is illegal and highly taxed
From America here just getting into PCP... You seem like a very neat guy haha and those cows... Pretty they are.. Wonderful video well done my friend and enjoy your rifle... I'd love to go out to the Fields with you and shoot some toys
Bravo and thank you. Interesting. And now I hope to see and digest a chart to put results in the mind. It is notable that several patterns were impressive one-hole. Perhaps some day you would compare various effects on simulated (and even real?) game of HP and other head designs. Also, .22, .25, and .177 comparisons would be interesting, but I wonder if the many hours needed would be worthwhile, as it seems that high-velocity HP .177s are more effective/destructive in good gels than the other calibers. And .177 seems adequate for almost anything if shot placement is very good. (Er, perhaps not on charging buffalo/bison.) Oh--what about decibels? Here, and surely many urban/semi-urban places that is very important. So far the Benjamin Marauder is best to my knowledge, but comparisons are aging and limited with new gear coming on scene.
very good and accurate review i use some of the pellets you have shown in both of my Air arms s410 one is .177 and .22 the .177 loves the accupells and the .22 favours the Rws super fields. Thanks again.
Great video, thanks for taking the time out from Modern Family to do this. Hope Mitchell doesn't mind :-). Joking aside, it really is a great video and real scientific approach
Must Try! The "JSB diabolo exact heavy .177, 10.34gr. pellet" may be, (or may not be), a bit heavy for a sub 12fpe gun, but with my cheap Benjamin Titan .177 break barrel, (16.5fpe), and the evolution of my shooting technique and barrel lock up, from a door jam, I just shot a 3 shot group of .600", (about the same size as that coin or a bit smaller), @ 75 yards. I am not sure I could do better with a .22lr rim-fire rifle. It leaves my gun at 850fps, where a 8.4gr. pellet leaves at 950fps, (about the same fpe), but it has to be a very tough pellet to beat for long range. And that makes it a very tough pellet to beat at short range too. IMO, you can't find the right pellet at a short 27 yards. I will probably be able to hit 1" to 1.5" groups with it @ 100 yards this summer, but I already found out 160 yards is really pushing it. My pellet search is over for the .177, and I may have just saved you some time and money if you try that pellet next. I like this guy. He has a good demeanor, a good "sense of life" IMO. And I like his vids and this testing facility. I just wish those fine blokes could have guns more powerful, and after I am shooting like I am at 75 yards with a cheap break barrel gun, (which tells me just about any gun could do that or better), I just don't see the sense of testing a rifle at a short 27 yards anymore. IMO, you can only find the best pellet, (and become a better shot), at 50 yards or further. Some of the pellets that did fine here, might not even make it to 75 yards on a 6" target. Merry Christmas everybody!
+Ammo Man Yes, but I'm not used to have such a versatile air rifle, it shoots admirably well with almost all of them, just changes the point of impact. With my four springers in the three calibers, there is only a matched pellet with one rifle and they shoot rather bad with the rest of pellets on the market, even high quality brands.
Well I have to give it to you that this was well done. Of course though every airgun shoots these pellets differently so they may work well in this airgun but they may not do so well in another.
fantastic video, thanks. I am from Portugal, in here we cant hunt or even use a airgun outdoor...but we can buy legaly all .177 and .22 guns with no power limits...I have a Gamo Shadow 1000 .177 with a gamo 4x32 scope and gamo high mounts. Last week I killed a big Rat in my garden...headshot at 10 yards...
Thats just showing what pellet works in that rifle and i shoot a falon fn12 & fn19 which shoot bisley magnums the best and i can match those groups all day long. That being said i still have the get the correct side magnums as they are done in two different sizes for 177. The only way to see what works best in your rifle is to buy a mixed selection of pellets off evilbay and try all and search the air rifle forums to see what works best from other owners of your air rifle.
i enjoyed very much, your commentary was excellent and the information was great. i got a better idea what pellets i need to look at. I currently prefer rws but now I want to try the webley, jsb, and falcon pellets as well. Thanks
i totally agree , funny how the AA field , falcon and the jsb exact group the same is because they are the same , all made in the same factory just put in different tins.
deanicuss aye up , I have tried the jsb, AA field breed of pellets and I can't see any difference in them can't split them on the range either you may be correct and there is slight difference's but I don't notice them , me and a friend have the same rifle I like jsb's where he likes bisley but my gun groups like a shot gun with the bisleys and his is slightly better with the jsb but gets one hole groups with the bisleys this from exactly the same make and model of rifle so the pellet test is void he has only found what pellet THAT rifle likes.
i shoot rws co2 target pistol flat head pellets in my co2 177 blow back umarex desert eagle, some cheap 22 plelets in my plinking rifle and in my air arms s310 i shoot air arms match flat head target pellets. they all work a treat!
Great vid good information I would of done 4 five shot groups with each brand just to give barrel to get use to each change but excellent vid mate air arms or jsb exact look to be best suited to the rifle
you guys are waaaaay lucky. In CANADA we have to take numerous tests at our own expense and the paperwork takes approx. 9 months to sometimes past a year. (Even if you have a security clearance), Before you can even hold a gun in a store. We must present a PAL before we handle or buy ammo or guns. Strict gun laws but for a good reason i guess...
You keep believing that it's for good reason 🤣, Trudeau and his leftie dictator's just don't want you possessing any weapon that you could defend yourself with . The whole of Europe is becoming a dictatorship where everything is illegal and highly taxed
great vid very surprised with H+N field target which is the pellet of choice for my S410 and a clear winner when i did my tests followed closely behind with AA diabolo hmm time to re test i think
ive used accupell, field target and the jsb exacts and the only ones that work consistently well with my s200 is the jsb but the other 2 have worked really well in a previous gun
Thank You for this very informative video. I've read some of the negative comments, and just wanted to say Thanks for Posting your results!" As all of these other experts have stated their opinions, I wanted to say that I will use this GUIDE to purchase several of these tins of ammo to use in my air rifle. I am NOT an expert, but I do know quality testing and reporting when I see it. Yes, the wind did kick up a little during a few of your shots, and yes certain ammunition does shoot better from certain rifles. But because it is apparent that the ammunition used in this test were HIGH QUALITY, this WILL give me a GREAT FOUNDATION to START my own testing! I enjoy shooting single hole groups, and hopefully one or two of these ammo tins will help with that end result! I DO offer a suggestion for you as well. IF you HAVE NOT DONE SO ALREADY....please go out and purchase some lovely flowers and take your wife out for a romantic dinner! That SHOULD go a long ways to having her forgive you for forgetting your anniversary! Best of Luck, safe shooting!
Great test, saves me/us all the fuss. ;-) Cignas6, I know exactly what you say about Canadian tests as I'm about to take my PAL. Want the WEIHRAUCH 97 blackline and no way around all this paperwork and forms to obtain one.
man you rock! this was awesome ! funny and also dead accurate test! have to buy som eammo for my black bull now, this will help! how many m/s you got in that rifle? it looks awesome!
Great vidio as always Giles. I would be grateful if you could say what the external laser pointer make & model is. Been trying to find it on the web but no luck
Great review and I appreciate the time to put it together. How would you recommend finding the best pellet for a different air rifle? Is it just the relationship between the rifle and the pellet for accuracy, or is there an element of personal preference with 'Mmmmmmaaaarrrggghh!..........pellet weight or trajectory? I can ask at the local rifle shop, or watch youtubes, but I'd like to avoid just spending £100 on various pellets, though this may be the best route. cheers
They say the pellet chooses the rifle so that test only shows what's best for that rifle. Sorry, you didn't really prove anything else to me. As far as pellets go, why doesn't anyone show testing with round ball pellets? They win every penetration test and are every bit as accurate as Diabolo pellets at 14 yards. I'd like to see them run through chrony and accuracy tests at 25 and 50 yards. That would be very interesting and different from the normal things being touted on RUclips all the time. I do enjoy your videos. I do find them informative and interesting.
Thank you for such an amazing test! Just so you know, the line-up picture of the 10 pellets on the yellow-green background (on your website) is mislabeled, as H&N Field Target Trophy is listed twice (the last 2 pellets at the end; I believe the last one should be the FT/non-Trophy). & the pic with the pellet canister and target paper results, the FTT is also used twice [& so small]. Could you explain what ""drop to first pellet" means? Also, can you provide larger images of the target results?
Just bought a benjamin marauder. After muuuuuch exhaustive research I decided on the 177 as I use it mainly as a rabbit rifle and need the extra range. What I want to know is have you tried one of these new ones and what pellet would you recommend. There is noone in new zealand to give me any advice about these. Only one company actually imports pcp's here and only import 2 brands so ive had to import one myself.... really worried ive made the wrong choice
Jeff S thanks mate. Ive tried a few pellets now and ive come up with a few good ones. The field target trophy and the barracuda match and the crow magnums from h&n are grouping very well with 20mm groups at 70yrds. Still expermenting but those are the best ive tried so far
I use JSB exacts and found them to be the best for me, but very interesting to see the other pells, i saw some pretty big fliers, any particular reason for them??
I just went to order some Exact Diablo and it asked me if I wanted 4.51mm, 4.52mm or 4.53mm ... Now that is exact... Since buying my new rifle I noticed pellets are remarkably loose in the hole.. I have never preciously heard of such a thing, do you have any advide or videos on the topic of oversizing?
What lead free pellet do you recommend? I have little kids and once dropped a pellet in the house evidently and my son chewed on it. That gave us a scare and we got rid of all lead pellets. Thanks in acdvance
jea JSB is the best and aa field is jsb Schultz diabolo making for AA too :). but my gun eat 4,51..i try 4,50 or 4,52 but JSB 4,51 is absolutely perfect.or you can try jsb heavy if you shooting on wind:)
I found the results page but it wasn't all that helpful, it would've been nice to have them in grouping size order & a better conclusion. I'd like to also see results regarding trajectory, the winds effect on the pellet, penetration at range & quality of pellet. Are they soft, hard, poorly produced, & what caused the strays, those sort of things.
great I live out in the sticks it took 29 plus mins for this to load up so I could watch it to them be told ,,, you wasted your time go to our website to find out thanks a bunch nj
Been to the website to see the results of these tests. Could you make the info just a little bit smaller, so I can put it into a scope cap cover. Its too small to read, and as such is a waste of both our time.
Pellets dont ricochet like bbs because they take the path of least resistence and because they r led they squish and fall to the ground whereas steel bbs dont squish so they ricochet
My only qualm with the video is the title, it should read "Best 10 pellets for this particular rifle." as every gun likes different pellets. Even with a particular model it can vary greatly from individual gun to gun. This is a great starting point though for anyone with this Air Arms rifle to go off of.
Mark Rogers I hunt with .177 Bisley Magnum, so accurate, and clean, my Daystate loves them, I notice they were not included! I also think 25 yds is not a real hunting distance, I zero on 40 yds for a 21 ft pound, Daystate Huntsman!
Its been 8 years, time for an update with the new pellets out there. Thanks
Awesome video!!! Thank you. Just ordered some diabolo exact pellets to try

Love the tests. Priceless info. Great rifle too. Thanks
I like the way he explain every step of what he's doing
Experimenting with different pellets is can be fun and frustrating! Sometimes you can find some off the wall pellets that work remarkably well (those you buy up and hoard) and others that don't even make a good paperweight. Before I buy a rifle or pistol, I read the reviews and see what pellets the tester used. Then I either use that pellet or an equivalent to kind of develop a baseline, then start playing with light and heavier pellets. For what its worth, the one pellet that works well both in my rifles and pistols in 177 is the predator polymags or Gamo's plastic tipped pellet.
I have to say I am a massive fan of the Bisley pellets they seem to be very affordable yet are reasonable quality and spot on accurate.
I agree!
Great video and always a pleasure to watch all your videos. Happy new years everyone
If you do update the video, film it in the same place and call it Best Pellets Heifer
Wow.
Everything thing in your test on total lockdown...
EXCEPT FOR YOUR TARGET BLOWING ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE!!

Can I ask you which is the best .177 lead free pellet for accuracy and penetration? (For hunting maybe)
Happy Anniversary Airgun Widow Lady!

I would be interested in if you could do a short video on what are, in your opinion the top 5 PCPs on the market today.

I think that thing is bullshit.

Must Try!
The "JSB diabolo exact heavy .177, 10.34gr. pellet" may be, (or may not be), a bit heavy for a sub 12fpe gun, but with my cheap Benjamin Titan .177 break barrel, (16.5fpe), and the evolution of my shooting technique and barrel lock up, from a door jam, I just shot a 3 shot group of .600", (about the same size as that coin or a bit smaller), @ 75 yards. you need a Airforce Talon for an accurate pellet test mate! great vid, thanks for the hard work
My hw98 just love RWS SUPERDOME and JSB
now, i have learned the hard way.
not every pellets shoots as good with every air rifle.
its still a test for every air rifle you take in arms.

I can ask at the local rifle shop, or watch youtubes, but I'd like to avoid just spending £100 on various pellets, though this may be the best route. cheers
Great test, went to see it on the website. I couldnt read it though the text was way too small. Good video!
Grew up on a dairy farm, love cows mooing...👍💪
With all pellets hitting in the same spot, I'm led to believe the scope is off!!
Sir my .177 rifle is = 800fps so ( HN baracuda mach 10.65 grain VS HN hornet 10.03 grain) pallets (rabbit hunting ) which better please reply 🤔 ? =
Baracuda
My first video of yours and I hit the subscribe button 57 seconds into it. Very funny!
What barrel laser sighting device did you use?
Falcon plus was the nice group I liked best 👍
Is the Gamo G-Hammer a good pellet in .177? 15 grains for .177 seems quite heavy and appealing for someone with a powerful enough air rifle.
You should try gamo tomahawk
Crosman, perimer ultra magunm are fantastic pellets
Just bought a benjamin marauder. After muuuuuch exhaustive research I decided on the 177 as I use it mainly as a rabbit rifle and need the extra range. What I want to know is have you tried one of these new ones and what pellet would you recommend. There is noone in new zealand to give me any advice about these. Only one company actually imports pcp's here and only import 2 brands so ive had to import one myself.... really worried ive made the wrong choice
get Crosman and/or Daisy pellets
Thanks mate!
Crosman or JSB pellets. I have NEVER had a Daisy fly straight.
I want something for long range target shooting which caliber would be best?
Hi my friend where did you get the magnetic barrel laser from please?😊👍
I just went to order some Exact Diablo and it asked me if I wanted 4.51mm, 4.52mm or 4.53mm ...
Now that is exact... Since buying my new rifle I noticed pellets are remarkably loose in the hole..
I have never preciously heard of such a thing, do you have any advide or videos on the topic of oversizing?
What lead free pellet do you recommend? I have little kids and once dropped a pellet in the house evidently and my son chewed on it. That gave us a scare and we got rid of all lead pellets. Thanks in acdvance
Why no Theobens tested on your website?
jea JSB is the best and aa field is jsb Schultz diabolo making for AA too :). but my gun eat 4,51..i try 4,50 or 4,52 but JSB 4,51 is absolutely perfect.or you can try jsb heavy if you shooting on wind:)
Its too small to read, and as such is a waste of both our time.
what kind of laser bore sight are you using? I've never seen a magnetic one like that, only seen the ones that slide down the barrel slightly.
Are there any pellets that disintegrate on impact like the Dust Devel BB's - Just fed up of ricochet
Pellets dont ricochet like bbs because they take the path of least resistence and because they r led they squish and fall to the ground whereas steel bbs dont squish so they ricochet
not once, even shooting metal have i had a richochette with a led pellet (force is transferd into crushing the pellet into target)
tommy turner what could be flying back at me then?
@@AlanAlanAlanDave are you using lead pellets? and what material are u shooting
tommy turner lead and chipboard target
My only qualm with the video is the title, it should read "Best 10 pellets for this particular rifle." as every gun likes different pellets. Even with a particular model it can vary greatly from individual gun to gun. This is a great starting point though for anyone with this Air Arms rifle to go off of.
Pellet ranking is not available anymore on the website
Great test but results were un readable on the website…….
Bisley are officialy the best for target practice
Mark Rogers I hunt with .177 Bisley Magnum, so accurate, and clean, my Daystate loves them, I notice they were not included! I also think 25 yds is not a real hunting distance, I zero on 40 yds for a 21 ft pound, Daystate Huntsman!
"Cow" at 1:22 made me laugh
I love airguns moooo, i learnt alot from your video mooooo thanks...mooooo
I like playing with airguns now.
are you going to do this for .22 (that would be very helpfull) ????
Hi a quick question I use JSB exact .177 4.51 I am thinking about changing to 4.53 can you please advise me
