I'm late in commenting. That said i am investing to start swimbait fishing. New rods, reels, line and swimbaits. I am 68 years old. Been bass fishing since i was 9. Caught a bunch of bass over 9 and PB 13 -10lbs. But for now 4 years the big bass have vanished. They are still there but the baits are so familiar to them "they" the bigger bass avoid those baits. I believe the number of good to excellent fishermen has exploded. I am changing to swimbaits. Matt in this video has created more, better, pertinent information than i have found. This video is priceless. Thank you Matt.
When you hear, Matt Allen here with Tactical Bassin and you automatically hit the like button before he even starts on the subject. Then you look over and see the video is 1:48 and your mouth starts to water and you know your going deeper down the rabbit hole than Neo after choosing the red pill. Oh what a lovely day!
Matt - 2 month ago, I bought a S Waver 168 in the Warden color after watching last year's video and caught a 6+ LM in the most heaviest pressured lake in my area. I had never caught a fish over 3 in that lake in years of fishing it. Can't thank you enough for all the information you share with us. I will watch this video a few times to try and absorb all the knowledge you have. Thank you!
I hope this gets pinned because the pond guys need to see it. Especially in the southern most states from cali to Florida, do NOT be affraid to throw thes baits in your local ponds. Even small residential ponds. Southern pond bass can be abnormally large for the body of water they live in and all this info can be applied the same. Anything 8" or smaller and ull catch the biggest fish in the pond. If your ponds have carp of any kind in them you can also get away with a 10" glide. Theres bass 8-12lbs in the local ponds in all these southern states like texas and Alabama and such so you pond guys dont be scared to throw these baits in your local ponds.
Your channel is great im 44 and been fishing all my life ive done more salt water then anything, got back into bass fishing and fresh water fishing. You have mastered your craft ....your tips and tactics have got me more hits and more fish in the boat ..........also being a tackle junkie i dont wanna spend stacks on lures ill never use i rather spend it on rods and reels and goodies for the boats ....respect to you and your team keep doing what your doing .........Amazing work even from a film point of view !!!!!! S. Gonzalez. Miami Fl. GoldBox Film Studios
Dude. What a trip. Been a fan of you guys for almost a decade now. Here you are holding one of my paint jobs (Buccas bull Gill). As always, you’re one of the VERY few that tells it like it is with integrity to boot. Cheers Matt.
You guys are hands down the best fishing yt channel out there. I can’t get enough of these seminars. Thank you so much for the time and dedication you put into these videos. I used to watch all kinds of channels and it’s hard to navigate thru the bs sales videos that half of the yters put out. When I want real information this is where I go. On behalf of all of us fatherless anglers. THANK YOU ! 😂
I have now watched stick-bait and swim bait/glide bait videos 5 -6 times each maybe more. They are so informative that one can’t completely absorb everything mentally position specific things into their style fishing, Lake they are fishing, time of year in their area they are fishing. Excellent videos
Matt/Tim you guy’s need to review the new Daiwa Tatula 300. It’s taken over the Tranx 300 as the best big swim bait reel on the market. It’s smoother, has higher drag rating, bigger handle with better knobs, an outside adjustable break system, more gear ratio options, and one that you two will appreciate, it has an upgraded Twing that allows braid to leader knots to pass through!
I got to say I really appreciate all the knowledge and info you share about rods reels and baits, this is my go-to channel for big bass this year 2023, Thanks much
just keeping it simple here haha love your content . has changed my bass game . im in northern ontario so 5 lb bass is a pretty big fish . 9.98 is my pb but it was when i was 15 im 32 now still chasing that rush , i really feel what matt and tim bring to the table as far as going down the rabbit hole has set a new president for fishing content , dont get me started on underwater footage GAME CHANGER . you guys are the best . how does someone go about pre booking guides through you guys like i said chasing the double digits . im sure your booked for the next 10 years but id like to get my name on that list. thanks again
Your through process is so clear in these videos. I would love to see more videos of you talking about your retrieves around different types of structure and cover.
Perfect timing, I'm getting rigged up to throw the big baits this week. The water is cooling, getting clearer, and the fish are hungry. It's time to put a smackdown on some GIANTS.
I had to break this up into multiple viewing sessions because of my work schedule, but glad I watched it all. The sheer amount of knowledge and experience imparted here is pure gold. Thank you!
I have made sure my air pods are fully charged every morning for the past six months just for this video. I read “ seminar” next to the video and was ready for the rabbit 🐇 hole!! Last years swim bait video is what got me in to fishing last year. I have been hooked on the channel ever since then. Thank you Matt & Tim for the wealth of knowledge y’all share every week.
New to the bigger swimbbait world, and this video (like so many you’ve done before) truly helped me understand what baits to get for where I fish and how to fish them. I fish a lot of grass and cover, so I ordered a few 6th Sense Sweeps and we’re gonna give them a go.
I’m a pretty finesse kinda guy , I fish Champlain and I’m finally venturing into the glide bait / bigger swim bait world, this video is exactly what I needed to watch to confirm all the questions I had! Thank you!
What I would give to spend a day or two fishing and learning this stuff in person from you and Tim...I've been having a tough time on the big swimbaits lately in the Lehigh Valley of PA
Great video Matt! Best swimbait one yet. It’s also the longest one of yours that I have watched from start to finish. Either I missed it or you didn’t cover lines but for all those technics I’m guessing that’s another video. Thanks again to both you and Tim for a great channel. I’m constantly learning new things from you guys.
Thank you so much for your videos! They are so informational. I live in Buffalo Minnesota on a clear water lake, and and I got my first PB large mouth this year!
Midnight Slammer fishing at Margarita ! must bang rocks !!! Got chills when you said violent strikes! Reminded me of the fishing MS slammers tell the sun came up.. so many extremely large and violent blow ups !
Matt- I've watched your videos for the past 4-5 years. Your passion got me into fishing these glide baits & swim baits. It is my favorite way to fish & I will GLADLY pass up catching a bunch of fish for those 2-5 really big bites in a day. My 4 largest fish have come on the S waver 168 from 5 to 7.3 pounds. I still fish other baits & styles, but almost every time I'm on the water I have 1 rod for glide baits ready to go. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, it's much appreciated.
First video I ever watched you were throwing huge swimbaits in Cali for Striper. I’m from Maryland the land of Striped Bass so it caught my attention. Been addicted ever since
Omg and 1hr and a half video thanks Matt this means a longer breakfast break at work. My boss gonna be pissed 😤 but at least there is a happy angler yayyyyyyyyy me 😁😁😁 eff work let's go TB Time!!!!
After a video you released about a month or 2 ago I caught my first glide bait bass on the sneaky pete just under 6lb thanks for all the tips and tricks over the years
Check out the Daiwa DX SB rods. I love mine for both soft and hard baits. Been using them the last 2 years and caught a few 5s and 6s with zero issues. They load up great especially for soft jig hook baits.
Threw a g ratt sneaky Pete and the treble bent out on a big one last trip. Now I understand why you switch out hardware, first time for everything. Thanks for all your expertise I haven't thrown anything under 5"s in the last 2 years and still catching 2 to 10lb large mouth. The big ones are very difficult to land shore fishing without a net. I may get only 10 cranks in before I loose em but it's totally worth trying.
TIM I COULD LISTEN TO YOU ALL DAY. REALLY ALL DAY. YOUR KNOWLEDGE IS JUST EXTREMELY OUT OF THIS WORLD ON FISHING. JUST BLOWS MY MIND... THANK YOU SO MUCH .. Did I hear sombody fishing 🎣 right next to you. I mean I think I heard there lure hit the water??????
I've done well with the savage gear shine glide... I tossed a brand new one into the bay last night on a bomber cast. Check your line constantly on these bigger baits guys! I'm fishing them on a 7'1" st Croix leg tournament swimbait rod. I like the fast tip to feel the glide out and it's sensitive enough to feel the weight of a small weed on the treble. The treble hooks keep them pinned, just load up on them
I think I watched from the first word until the very last for the first time on a video in about 5 years. That was some straight educational review talk....I'm definitely getting the vatalion and a couple others from the array you discussed. I appreciate the wisdom, as always tight lines brotha
Thatnks for taking the time for doing this in-depth video Matt. I'm really interested in getting a couple of these baits and I cannot wait to use them. Thanks again.
Saved my first tournament day (fishing with my boss at that 😬) thanks to the S-waver and TB videos. I smashed our only keepers on a slow day where half the boats came in empty. But the S-waver 120 and 168 saved us!
Great info for the guy making lures in their garage. Plenty of info on hardware here. I went with triple grip hooks on my glide just to be able to fight the fish a little and keep them pinned. But have such a profile that they eat it from behind with agression everytime, unless they swirl on it subsurface. In that case its tboned.
Huddleston’s have produced very well for me. And, I suspect many others. What helps for sure is the right gear. And, having a slower gear ratio in the reel. So, when you think your moving it slow enough…you make a mental note to slow down.
If I can only download your fishing knowledge 😂 great video as always! Just bought a 10’ bass raider, so this spring I’ll be getting off the banks and into the lakes Thanks for all your content, enjoy your channel
This video was awesome! Thank you, Matt. I recently got an S-Waver 168 and a 6" Scotsborough, and you going through these baits and talking about how to fish them really helps. I know it was a long video but it was much needed and really interesting. Thanks again, Matt.
The 168 is incredible. I have one tattooed on my arm and I believe it was the owner of River2sea that gave me a big grip of them because he randomly broke his trailer in front of my work one day. I tried to help him find somewhere to get it fixed and he was super thankful. He was on the phone with Matt actually when he was giving the baits to me.
Always great, love the in depth shows.had a couple issues you just solved for me.i just hand pick what applies to me and my lake that's what's so great but always keeping in mind what's out there and what other guys are doing.I know longer feel I'm wasting money on lures I shouldn't buy and I'm catching bigger and more Fish.thanks matt
I know what I’m doing for the next two hours before I go out today. Nice timing too because I’m going to give slow dragging a big soft plastic swim bait a try today. Thanks guys.
I've been fishing swimbaits going on 2 yrs now. I'm definitely no exspert!!! But I am getting pretty decent. I have a really nice Diawa swimbait set up now. So I've been getting into bigger baits little while. I just caught just under 8lbs weekend before last. These big baits get exspensive, & definitely want a good lure retriever also! U will get them hung up & loose them without one. & Throwing them in sticky areas is places to catch big ones. I think alot of guys fish these baits to conservatively because of their prices, which I think can cause guys to get discouraged because they don't catch much on them. I'm a kayak fisherman & always have a couple swimbaits tied on! Great video!!!
Loch Raven Reservoir, Maryland. True clear water lake. Can have 20 feet of visibility. Havent found a true giant here, anything over 5 is super rare, but hands down the top 5 biggest fish I've caught there were caught on under bluebird skys with the sun almost directly overhead. Never considered it as anything more than blind luck. Interesting insight on the midday biggun bite!
I think a big bass will bite a 6”-7” swim bait as often as any other. The advantages of throwing that size out weight the advantages a larger size gives you IMO. A swim jig with a 5” paddle tail also gives a decent swimming profile and works better down south where the bass are rarely over 7 lbs and feed on bluegill. I am also one who cares more about total weight caught than just catching giants. Good video!
There are a ton of "Rabbit Hole" videos that you guys have done where I have only been a beginner or intermediate but I still watch all the way down the deep dark hole because, just like the automotive and motorcycle industries that I'm also a Nut about, I know that to learn how to get better you have to look to the top. The basic comes from the trickled down perfection of those who are on top
I just spent $323, I’m 15😂, my dad and twin brother think I’m stupid and foolish. I got a taste of swimbait fishing with my little 7’3 heavy and an Arashi glide, now I lost the arashi glide, caught a few 4s, and lost two giant 8+ lb bass. I’m hooked and I can’t wait to get better at this. Thank you Matt!
I know the feeling! I went all in when I was young as well and spent a small fortune! In hindsight I'm glad that I did it... but I'm also glad I grew up and can do these videos so that you don't have to spend that same fortune I did. Definitely lean on the advice given, stick to budget options, and you'll catch a ton of fish without spending too much. Once you have a solid combo the rest can be done on a pretty simple budget. 👍
Loved checking out those baits and hearing about your experiences with them! I have a few glides, an s-waver and an I-Slide which I've tried and they get crushed dude. Tried the wedge tail styles here in Texas without much success but those big keitechs and 8" easy shiner are killer. I suppose they are much better at imitating the presence of gills and gizzard shad which are a major forage down here. That burrito and mattlures gill interest me a whole lot though, sick...
Great video I just finally now got around to finish watching the end of it but very informational and I thought I was the only one that made long videos
Hey Matt, great informative vid as always. I understand that you typically talk about baits that are for the most part readily available, but I was wondering if you've thrown any of the working class zero stuff like the citizens or battle shads and what your take is on them? I have them and love em, but was curious on your perspective. Thank you for all the knowledge you and Tim share every week👍
Caught a solid 5 pounder and countless 3 pounders this summer on one of those little powerbait perch colored paddle tail swim bait things they rock these new school huge ones suck nuts
I’ve bought almost every large swimbait Matt has talked about. And they work! But I’m still confused on when/where to throw them. Conditions, depth, structure, how to locate, where to fish, best times of day, habits of big bass. Do I throw at the bank with my trolling motor? Etc…
If you like the Savage gear Pulse tail baits you should check out the Craft range of Pulse tail trout, if available in the U.S., Savage gear changed the rubber and now they are way softer. I think they only come free bodied though i.e you need to add your own hooks, etc.
Great video again, so much information to learn and try. I was able Snagged a Huddleston finally and a dedicated rod, looking forward to getting the new PB. Have a great week guys!!
I can't believe the Deps 250 was not in this video. I get that maybe it's not one of your top baits or you don't fish it much. But I would think it deserves a honorable mention at the least. That lure has probably caught more people their PB on a swimbait more then any other. They are infamous just like hudds are.
I picked up the Dobyns Fury FR795 for swim bait fishing from my 10ft kayak. Still trying for my first swim bait fish but has been great with big fish on other lure.
Do you realize how many people you’ve made late for work today let alone the unproductive day dreaming of swimbait fishing while at work. ✌🏼
😂🤣 that’s funny 😆
I wont complain 🤣🤣🤣
My WEEK has been fucked lol
This is valid
That’s a not too cool. Do your job
I could listen to Matt talk about swimbaits for THE WHOLE DAY. Wealth of knowledge he's dropping on us and we're lucky to have him!!!
All I want for Christmas is Matt’s 500 Swimbaits Seminar. Let’s go down that rabbit hole!
Perfect timing. Been watching the old swimbait vids wondering when the next updated version would drop. Thanks
God bless 🙏

Can you imagine running into Matt at a tackle shop. That would be like rubbing the magic lamp and having the genie come out.
I’ve run into him a two different boat ramps in two different states (cali and Florida). Super nice dude and loves to talk fishing!
@@tedlincolnsfishinglife I don't doubt that for a second. They both seem like super genuine guys
I was the guy with the vatalion and your right lol
@@kwowwandryan I was hoping you would chime in somewhere in the comments. That had to be awesome!!
I grew up on Roland Martin and still watch him but you are my next generation guy I go to for fishing. Thank you

This has been a great refresher. Amazing how much the swimbait game has changed in 5 years. However, somethings remain tried and true. Thanks Matt
Matt - 2 month ago, I bought a S Waver 168 in the Warden color after watching last year's video and caught a 6+ LM in the most heaviest pressured lake in my area. You can put a hook on the tail of the ganterel too to eliminate short striking altogether
Excellent info as always! I've caught more good bass this year following your advice! Keep up the great work!
Bro Im so glad you exists...always great info from a great guy. Would love to go fishing with you someday.
Thanks for the video. Always great information. No one else is giving out near this much info.
The swimbait seminars are awesome. Great video guys.
Perfect timing dude! Just woke up, got my morning coffee, and fresh bong rip ready to toke!
😂
I’m really close to canceling all my video subscription services cause all I watch are tactical bassin videos. Thanks for another great one!
Thank you so much for the amazing videos ! Your commitment is unmatched!
The academy brand swimbaits are amazing and cheap. I’ve caught hundreds on them and only been using them a few months.
The Jackal Ganterel is my go to bait for spring thru summer.Late fall to spring I bring out the trout bait. In my area we get trout stockings.
Etc…
This is the video I’ve been waiting on thank you for the information!!! I’m just now getting into the big swim baits.
If you like the Savage gear Pulse tail baits you should check out the Craft range of Pulse tail trout, if available in the U.S., Savage gear changed the rubber and now they are way softer. I think they only come free bodied though i.e you need to add your own hooks, etc.
I watched every minute brother
Excellent
Thanks for breaking it down
Great video again, so much information to learn and try.
You should look into doing time stamps on these longer videos also maybe I missed it but what gear do you prefer for swim baits
Awesome, just got my first swimbait combo and a few baits now just need to get my first swimbait fish!
