Matt, the fact you can sit down for nearly 3 hours talking to a camera about swimbaits shows your passion for bass fishing and how much you want to share it with everyone willing to listen. Your channel is the best in bass fishing. No question whatsoever.
Yea you got that right brother but you have to also think he not only was in the beginning on big baits on the west cost but the best big bass factory in the us but he guided for all them years
The go-to bass fishing channel on RUclips, no doubts. In Southern California, every avid swimbait/glidebait angler I've ever met, no matter what lake, watches Tactical Bassin.
Tactical bassin got me back into bass fishing after a bit of a break due to a addiction issue. Once i got back into it ive made the BASS nation national championship as well as 4 regional championships. Theres a lot of fishing channels. Few are as focused on teaching as this one. And none even compare. Matt and Tim, thank you for all you do, you have helped me tremendously.
That’s amazing! So glad you are beating that addiction, although I think bass fishing is an addiction all its own (but a good one though). Keep fighting the good fight brother!
This level of detail is so amazing! I know it’s a lot to put out these longer videos but it’s much appreciated. I hope everyone takes to heart how to treat the fish if they’re fortunate enough to land one.
This was the fourth time I have watched every moment of this. I have watch parts numerous other times also. I cannot say this enough, Thank you for all you do.
It’s awesome that we have a resource like this for free! I love the in-depth videos and I know you guys work super hard to bring us this content. Matt is a bass fishing mad scientist and Tim is awesome too, especially when it comes to finesse. I appreciate you guys more than you can imagine and I’m sure there’s thousands of guys that feel the same!!!
Man thanks for making these in-depth videos and thanks for pushing for the care of fish. A lot of people forget how important that is if we want fishing to get better.
I love this "less baits but more detail" style. I love to go as deep as possible and you guys have such a great talent for doing that while keeping everything approachable and clear
Every single time when Matt or Tim uploads a new video, I get super pumped because of how much I will learn from them. Matt and Tim’s seminars are above and beyond everyone else’s seminars let alone their videos in my personal opinion because they do not keep any secrets whatsoever. I get just as excited whenever they do post a new seminar about a specific bait or technique just cause again they do not BS anyone, they spill everything they know. But whenever Matt uploads a full seminar about swimbaits, it literally takes me over. I get so freaking pumped whenever he does these kind of videos. Matt was the first guy I came across on RUclips when I was looking to amp my knowledge more on swimbait fishing. I knew the basics of it but I wanted and needed more knowledge about the topic and he plus Tim are by far the best bass anglers to learn from about swimbait fishing let alone their other full length videos about certain baits and techniques. By far the best bass fishing channel on the internet!
This video is truthfully amazing. I live in Indiana where we’re known for small bass, but I’ll tell you what. I’ve bass fished for six and a half years pond fishing as a teenager catching maybe two or three fish over 3 pounds in the past five. But this year alone, I’ve caught five bass over 5 pounds one of them being yesterday and A LOT of other fish over 4 pounds. Something I would’ve never imagined catching back when I was 13. I’m almost 20 now, and I still love watching and learning the tactic of your guys’ videos. You guys are incredible. Matt, please keep doing what you do I love getting on RUclips and watching every second of these videos🫶
Small bass in Indiana? Truer words have never been spoken. I’ve caught some good ones on Patoka though, but they seem to be few and far between. My PB spotted bass came from there though - 3lb 14oz on a DT10 in the early spring. She was fat!!! I think the addition of striper and walleye over the last 2 decades plus actively killing off the grass made a dent in the largemouth population (and crappie for that matter) as both of those were actually really good 20 years ago.
I hope everyone has a great Friday. If you're heading out to have a go at the bass today or over the weekend, I wish you the very best of luck. Thank you for this video, Matt; nearly three hours of content is no easy feat...looking forward to watching it later. Have a great day everyone!
Simply the very best Bass fishing tutorials I have ever come across.Fishing is a never ending learning process ( statrted at 8 yrs old and still learning at 63 ).Thanks very much guys for all your efforts .
Wow! I watched this and when it ended, watched it again! You gave so much information that I didn't want to miss something! My wife who was reading even started watching and commenting. You are a Professor of Bass fishing! Thank you for taking the time to pass on your knowledge. Much appreciated! Great stuff!
Truly appreciate these in depth seminars. The amount of effort you and Tim put into all your videos amazes me. I am grateful for all the knowledge I've gained over the years through your FREE videos over the years. . You guys have helped take me from being a below average angler to a confident and competent stick on the water. You guys are the cream of the crop! Thank you 👍
I’ve been subscribed to TB for a good 8, maybe even 10 year’s now. As far as I’m concerned, Matt and Tim are the premier resources for everything bass fishing! I’ve learned sooooo much from these guy’s over the years and don’t even have words for what they’ve done for me and my bass game! These guy’s are simply all time… GOAT’S if you will… When it comes to teaching the sport of bass fishing, there is simply none better! Ya, it may sound like I’m kissing ass, but I don’t give a shit! I owe these guy’s a huge THANK YOU for taking the time, spending the energy, spending the money, to bring us the highest of quality information out there! 🎣
What a graduate level class! I've watched Matt's swimbait tutorials before, so I showed up with my notebook, extra pencil, graphing calculator, & even my Dad's slide ruler. So much experience poured into a video. Thanks Tactical Bassin'
Really opens up a lot of myths that's heard over web sites that makes people not want to try this style of fishing. This opens up and sparks all of our interest to learn, thank you, this is why your channel is a hit! Wonder what would happen if you put together a "kit" of the baits you have been involved in producing 😮
The best part of this vid was educating newer fishermen about genetics. That’s how our Share A Lunker program works here in Texas which I’m sure you know. 13 lb bass are donated from fishermen to the TPWD and they raise them in tanks to collect their offspring to stock in our Texas lakes.
Great Video! My dad and I have been using big swimbaits on the Susquehanna river for smallmouth and my dad finally caught his personal best 21.50 inch 5lb5 Oz smallie on the tactical wake, thanks for the excellent swimbait videos.
Matt, been a fan since the Swimbait Mindset video. Thank you for taking the time to mention proper fish handling and quick release of these bass. Such an important topic far too many overlook or disregard.
I love you talking about taking care of a huge fish when you catch it! Those big fish extended a tremendous amount of energy in that struggle. They are also likely the oldest fish and therefore more susceptible to stress. I had a huge almost 20 inch smallmouth on my measuring board this year trying to get a picture and after the 6th try and she was flopping everywhere I thought I'm not going to kill this fish for a picture I got her in the net got a revived and got her on her way.
both of you guys do a really good job of sharing the knowledge and i have been one of your biggest fans for years... I ESPESCIALLY like that you guys are passionate about preserving the sport, and caring for the land and the fish... You guys are true out doors men...
The last several videos have been amazing. The jerkbait seminar and this swimbait video in particular were a huge benefit. Love the fact that the retrieves for the baits were in here, showing how to work the reel and rods, absolutely helped correct some of my mistakes when working swimbaits. Same with the jerkbait retrieves. Awesome stuff.
I have an absolute obscene amount of money in custom glides, swimbaits, dedicated swimbait gear and just haven’t caught a giant yet on any of it. It’s so discouraging. I have such little confidence in swimbait fishing. I sure hope I get it turned around. Great vids sir and we appreciate them.
I'm sorry Christopher, we both hate that for you. The current swimbait game full of endless custom glides can be a money trap if you let it be! The technique itself is so simple, I hope you find some details in this video that help you turn the corner. For what it's worth, I went 3 years without a fish while learning (there were no videos, posts, threads, etc... to help back then) before breaking through and catching literally dozens of double digits on big baits. You can do this if you want to!!
Wow! Absolutely the best tutorial/informational video on RUclips! Thank you so much for all the tips! Your passion really shows, absolutely an amazing video!
Love the in-depth videos. You guys answer all the right questions, and you're not biased in bait selection. That definitely makes you trustworthy and adds to the confidence I have in purchasing and throwing baits. Appreciate you guys!
Newer bass angler here (fished crappie almost exclusively for years), and decided to add large swimbaits and glide baits to my arsenal this week! Wow what a clinic! I’ve referred back to this video several times and ordered a few beginner lures. I tell ya what, I’m just about to the point of leaving the popular big box store and shopping exclusively at TW just because of you guys! Thanks for everything you do, and I’m excited to put some time on the water this winter and learn a new technique!
Got on my lunch break from work, saw the length of the video and said YES! Caught my first bigger swimbait fish 2 falls ago thanks to Matt's recommendation! Best info on RUclips for bass fishing HANDS DOWN
You definitely need to have everyone respect for doing this video. The fact you care that much to help other anglers to give this much of your time to help people with baits and techniques is amazing. Always got my support brother 🙏 💯 🙌 thank you. I absolutely love big swimbait fishing and I've been having a time loosing glide bait fish it's so frustrating.
Just got a Daiwa Lexa 400 yesterday from tackle warehouse. Was out throwing a 8in magdraft for the first time and it was beyond a blast. I felt like a Muskie fisherman I had like 5 or 6 follows and 1 bite! IT WAS EXCELLENT! LOL! So much fun. Can't wait to start slow creeping huge baits in winter.
I get so excited when they do the swimbait seminars. I will have my office locked for a couple of hours to watch this thing probably twice thank you tactical Bassin for taking the time and sharing your knowledge
Love the talk about fish harvesting. Boone lake recently just got refilled and the population is still recovering. I hope it can become a strong fishery in the upcoming years
I hope that you understand, just how helpful these demos of the actual techniques really are. Ive been fishing for 30 years, yet some of these techniques still elude me enough to keep me frustrated. Seeing exactly how you work the bait is huge! Thank you sir!
@@tacticalbassin The demo in the jerkbait video was also awesome. I learn a lot trying to visualize what you're saying, but seeing it takes it to a whole new level. Those folks that used to be able to higher you as a guide on your home lake were unbelievably lucky!
I’ve really enjoyed your show. You have a great way of getting out the information to 2:34:40 people need. We never had this when I was a kid 60 years ago. You’re very well spoken very knowledgeable both of you and it’s a great show. It is the best bass show on RUclips. Thanks for the excellent information!! I can’t wait to get back out there on the water.
I only just realized I have never *really fished swim baits.. and when I did, I did so very sub-optimally. I’m excited to take this info to the lake. I also am just now learning that you can have replica fish made! Very awesome
I just caught my first fish on an 8” Magdraft on Sunday, wasn’t huge, 3.40, but couldn’t have done it without you Matt. This deep dive upped my confidence even more, can’t wait to get out there tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks Matt!!
Matt, I'm only 1 hour in, but I had to comment. FANTASTIC details so far. But on the fighting a fish thing, I've learned something a while back. The fish want to go away from the force. When I see the line coming to the surface, I immediately pull the rod tip UP and winch harder. I don't know how many times, even on big smallmouth (and you know how they love to get air) they almost instantly stop heading for the surface and start trying to bulldog back down into cover. If they do break the surface, then it's pull hard and slap them back into the water. But their instinct is to go the opposite way of where they are pulled most of the time.
I’ve been waiting for this video for so long! Love this channel! I went out last weekend and was replaying several of your guys fall videos in my head all day while I was fishing and sure enough caught my PB on an A-Rig in 21 feet of water using my basic electronics…thank you so much for all the work you guys put into your videos!
First, thank you for taking the time to show us this. It’s very helpful and I’m glad to see that all the swim baits I own made your cut. A few things that I need some help with are these: I have the 30lb Maxima line you recommended before and it’s thick. What knots are you guys tying on such large line? How long of a leader do you typically run and what connection knot are you tying that isn’t killing your guides? The pain of hearing my connection knot run through the guides on a $300+ rod hurts my soul.
That was excellent, especially the retrieval demo. Thanks for taking the time to go into detail on each individual bait. Appreciate your effort involved in doing this one!
First off, I love your passion for fishing and I can watch you talk about swimbaits and jigs all day. It makes me want to fish. These types of videos watching you is the reason I love this channel. Being a Northern California fisherman would you recommend throwing the 6 inch boot style for the small shad/smelt eaters we have here? Or would you stick to the smaller baits to mimic those baitfish like we normally do? The 6 inch Magdraft intrigues me however the baitfish appear to be way smaller. Also, would you only throw a vortex tail for a trout/kokanee eating big swimbait? Or would you throw that boot style tail like a 8-10 inch osprey for example as well? I live in folsom lake I know you are familiar. Normally I stick with spinnerbaits and jigs and rope them however would love to venture into swimbaits for the lake. You’re awesome Matt. Thanks for all your information!
I cannot catch a single fish on almost any of the techniques you guys cover but I don’t let my lack of fishing skills stop me from enjoying your deep dive seminars, especially the swimbait vids!
Haha some days I feel that way too! My problem is always spending too much time in one spot when I know deep down I need to keep moving until I find the right group that wants to bite. Or just finding fish in general. I constantly refer back to their “where do fish go when xyz” videos for the time of year, and lately I’ve been pulling up my Garmin map on my iPad during those videos and picking out spots on my home lakes that match what they are talking about. It has helped tremendously! I just gotta set a timer to break that bad habit of sitting on a spot too long…
I applaud you on another incredible video that will be watched over and over again over the years. But man what a tease you guys are you're killing me with that Amazon footage. So here is my hammer Amazon, Amazon, Amazon. Thank you for all you do.
Interesting tidbit about protecting big fish and making that the anglers responsibility. Seems many shy away from that and with your platform, you addressed it and nailed it. I want to have a chance at giants that others have caught as well, and if they keep it or mishandle it, I won't have that opportunity. Nice work on addressing that in a kind way. Also great info on big baits. I tend to shy away from them so I love hearing this info
I watched this video last night while searching for advice on different artificial baits. Since I’ve never used them before I always used live bait. I ended up picking up some powerbait shad imitator because that’s what I could find at the bait shop near me. I tried several of the retrieval methods you demonstrated and I nailed a largemouth in my neighbors pond.
Yeah Matt, you and Tim are a class act. been following you guys since the beginning. When i started bass fishing i looked up videos on California where i lived, and you guys popped up. been slammin em ever since! 😂
An incredible video. Thank you. One thing I would like to add from my experience; when a bass is coming up ( and you can tell watching your line), as the fish reaches the surface I will wind down hard on the fish and will stab my Rod down into the water keeping pressure pulling the bass over not allowing the bass to control their head and sling it back and forth slinging the bait.. I am totally with you about controlling the fish and not allowing the flipping of the head wildly, cause if they do , I will suggest 65% of the time you will lose the fish. Learn to use your drag. At times you want your drag cranked down tight. Matching your equipment set up. Other times with liked equipment, and you hook that extra large fish unexpectedly, keep pressure on the fish allowing your drag To give when the fish make a run. These are fun times .
Absolutely LOVE this vide and have now watched it no less than 4 times! Looking to get the 13 Fishing A3 reel like you suggest and will use this for throwing baits such as the SPRO Chad Shad. The one thing that I didn't see is the gear ratio you recommend. Thank you again for all you do for these honest and indepth videos and this is by far the best fishing channel!
Matt awsome video . Thanks for putting it out there buddy . Started building up my Swimbaite collection lately . Cant wait to get going and this is going to help me and my buddy . Glad you put it out there how important it is to look after the Bass , my mentality as well 😊
Matt, if you haven't already, you gotta try the Swimbait Republic Glideway 176. Not paid to say that it's been my all time favorite so far..PB-breaker for me. Absolutely amazing bait!
Thanks Matt you and Tim are soooo helpful to a guy like me that just need those suttel differences in different situations I appreciate the in depth long winded videos you guys are an awesome team I always use you links to buy my baits to keep you guys doing what you do best thanks 💯🙏🏻
Man ive been waiting for this video. My TW wishlist and shopping cart is filled with swimbait gear i needed to narrow down. This hit at a perfect time.
I love the talk about bass's genetics because I feel like a lot of people don't really understand that and where I live in urban areas. There's these ponds/lakes that I fish that are community ponds and they're just meant for everybody but people take everything and anything that comes out of those ponds/lakes. And a lot of times, some of these people even just take more than what the limit is and. We can't do anything about it. Now I have something to tell people when they ask, "Why do you do catch and release?" Because every place that I fish now is super hard to fish and there's like no bass left because people are just harvesting everything. And I can't go anywhere else because I am too busy to go to a lake on the weekends and all that as a student.
Braid to flouro leader gets an S-Waver down a bit deeper. It’s pretty much the only time I’ll use flouro. After suspending JerkBaits up to 128 then I’ll go to glidebaits from 168 up to 200, still looking for a reaction strike with those bigger baits. I have a friend I call a Sneaky Pete so I’ll have to get one in her honor. She’ll love it!
Can't wait till next years video. Alot of new swimbaits coming to the market this fall/winter. Excited to see what they think on the mag soft body swimbait category compared to the Mag Draft. 6th sense hangover and Spro magalojohn swimbait are the most interesting ones to me personally.
Even if I don't get them to bit a glide bait seeing the drawing power that they have is amazing. You see them come up and look at it or u see 2,3 of them trailing them gets my pump up
I need to try this. I havent tried anything above the baby bull shad or a keitech. This video lays it all out there though and already gives me confidence
As a bank fisherman I mat use less than 5% of what you talked about. However I watched the whole video because I love hearing the depth of knowledge and your enthusiasm. With all of the fishing you do, design work, tinkering, and video work I do not see how you find time to sleep.
I like to use lead tape around the shank of the hooks then shrinkwrap over. Thanks for the down the 🐇 🕳 video Matt. I'm always listening and learning new things from you and Tim excellent video TB

Not enough people talk about safe harvesting and why people shouldn’t kill the largest bass. Great on you guys 💪🏽
very few do talk about it
It's such an important topic, I'm glad it resonated with you.
One of the best parts of this video. LOVE to see it ❤
Bro, 2 hours and 45 minutes of straight fire!! You're on a different level Matt!! Were not worthy
Ha! If it helps you stick a big one this year the whole thing is worth it!

Thats awesome! Comments like this are what keep us going!
@@tacticalbassin I'd love to hear your recommendations for best swimbaits for smallies! Please and thank you! 🙏
Loved your statement in the beginning. My current PB is 8.7lbs. I gave that fish a kiss and was as gentle with her as I was with my newborn.
That's awesome! Way to take care of a special fish!!
What a seminar ! You guys are absolutely amazing people!!! Me and kids have spent countless hours watching your videos for years !! Thank you 😊
Thank you for the support! We really appreciate it!
I'm getting ready to head to El Salto. It's nice to be able to come back to this video for a refresher.
Next year you guys should add chapters so people can jump to the section they need. Keep up the good work.
You guys have taught me a bunch, last year was my most productive year of fishing. Thank you!
I get so excited when they do the swimbait seminars. I will have my office locked for a couple of hours to watch this thing probably twice thank you tactical Bassin for taking the time and sharing your knowledge
Thanks Shane! We're happy to do it and look forward to the stories that came from it as people apply the knowledge.
Always look forward to your guide series, been watching you for what feels like a decade. Thanks Matt!
Thanks! I appreciate the support!
Awesome! This is the exact feedback that we need, I really appreciate it!
Matt is the preacher man of fishing lures, the way is talks about these swimbaits reminds me of how my dad talks about Jesus on Sunday morning
I only just realized I have never *really fished swim baits.. and when I did, I did so very sub-optimally. I’m excited to take this info to the lake. I also am just now learning that you can have replica fish made! Very awesome
Thank you Matt for spreading the big bass release practice!
I just caught my first fish on an 8” Magdraft on Sunday, wasn’t huge, 3.40, but couldn’t have done it without you Matt. This deep dive upped my confidence even more, can’t wait to get out there tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks Matt!!
That's awesome! The first one is the tough one, you'll knock them down now!
Man. I definitely appreciate you sharing your years of knowledge on this subject, thank you!
Watched every second of this tutorial!
Great insight on the Swimbait game!
Best!
Thank you Matt!!!!!
Thanks David!
Thanks for the lesson on harvesting… this needs to be talked about more!
Thank you so much for your comments about protecting the fish. I know you were talking about big fish, but your advice applies to all fish.
You are very welcome Jim. Thanks for taking the time to let us know it struck a chord with you.
Thanks for the informative video on swimbaits. Definitely years of knowledge all given in a 3 hour video.
Excellent. Thanks Matt. The Chad Shad and Chimera are phenomenal but don't sleep on the DRAW.
Well it took me 3 days, but I finished the masterclass in swimbaiting!!!! Now I need to go fishing… let’s see how this really works!!
We're happy to do it and really appreciate rhe support!
Two days ago i fish my PB (4LB 13OZ / 20.9 inch ) in FRANCE, with magdraft 8 AYU
Way to go!! That's awesome!!
A testament to the beauty of simple living. 🌱
Good job, I totally agree
I just gotta set a timer to break that bad habit of sitting on a spot too long…
@@nursenick06 I definitely could benefit from a “time to move” timer 🤣
Matt great detailing there. Best Bass fishing tutor!
I applaud you on another incredible video that will be watched over and over again over the years. But man what a tease you guys are you're killing me with that Amazon footage. So here is my hammer Amazon, Amazon, Amazon. Thank you for all you do.
HA! Thanks David! We want it just as bad as you do 🤦♂️
Interesting tidbit about protecting big fish and making that the anglers responsibility. Seems many shy away from that and with your platform, you addressed it and nailed it. I want to have a chance at giants that others have caught as well, and if they keep it or mishandle it, I won't have that opportunity. Nice work on addressing that in a kind way.
Also great info on big baits. I tend to shy away from them so I love hearing this info
the passion you have shines through, especially in this format! keep up the outstanding work!!
Thank you so much!
Can't wait to see the new colours for the Borito 👏😁
Cant get enough of this video.
By far the best fishing how to ive ever seen everrr 😂😮💪
I watched this video last night while searching for advice on different artificial baits. Since I’ve never used them before I always used live bait. I ended up picking up some powerbait shad imitator because that’s what I could find at the bait shop near me. I tried several of the retrieval methods you demonstrated and I nailed a largemouth in my neighbors pond.
Thank you for talking about how important it is to catch and safely release. I feel that its not spoken about enough in the yt community.
Yeah Matt, you and Tim are a class act. been following you guys since the beginning.
When i started bass fishing i looked up videos on California where i lived, and you guys popped up. been slammin em ever since! 😂
That's awesome! I'm glad we were able to have a little impact on your fishing. Thank you for the continued support!
Amazing and informative seminar! I love your guys swim bait it smashes bass of all sizes for sure!
Thanks bro im stuck at work for the next 2 hrs ❤
This is movie of the year right here.
😂😂😂
Thanks Matt you and Tim are soooo helpful to a guy like me that just need those suttel differences in different situations I appreciate the in depth long winded videos you guys are an awesome team I always use you links to buy my baits to keep you guys doing what you do best thanks 💯🙏🏻
Thanks so much! We appreciate that!!
Man ive been waiting for this video. My TW wishlist and shopping cart is filled with swimbait gear i needed to narrow down. This hit at a perfect time.
Awesome! We're happy to help!
Can't wait for the spinnerbaits seminar 😊👍
Hang in there Brandon! We have all been in your exact shoes. Education is key, we're trying!
Thanks for stressing the care of big bass!!!! super important
👍 Thanks for the support!
I’ve been loving the bass mafia dangerous swimmer. Blows the magdraft out of the water around grass.
Perfect timing, thank-you!
You're welcome, thanks for checking it out!
Amazing explanation on how to fight the giant bass!
Wow! Matt, this is so much great info thank you so much for all you do. Ive been watchin since the early days and this might be the best 1 yet!
Thank you! What a compliment!
Wake end bake watching TB priceless thankz for make my fishing skill better keep the good work guys u rock on the game like always say
Thanks 👍
As a bank fisherman I mat use less than 5% of what you talked about. However I watched the whole video because I love hearing the depth of knowledge and your enthusiasm. With all of the fishing you do, design work, tinkering, and video work I do not see how you find time to sleep.
🔥🔥OMG WOW Matt,I’m blown away once again ❤👏👏👏
Ha! Thanks Ken!!
I like to use lead tape around the shank of the hooks then shrinkwrap over. Thanks for the down the 🐇 🕳 video Matt. I'm always listening and learning new things from you and Tim excellent video TB
