Stream Reveal of this LOTAD from Banjorace: ___
This TAS Demonstration aims to beat Banjo-Kazooie in the fastest time possible without the use of cheats. It uses the Furnace Fun Moves glitch (FFM). This glitch requires having an existing file on the cartridge up to furnace fun. This means that the TAS is not on a clean cartridge, but this is generally the standard for real time speedruns, which is why FFM was used. Note that the inputs for FFM setup were done mainly by Hyperresonance.
This is a Low Optimised Tool Assisted Demonstration (LOTAD), meaning that it is not as fully optimised as a usual TAS. The reason for this choice is because a normal TAS of this would take several years to make, but look fairly similar to this run.
There is a type of glitch called a bitclip which allows banjo to fall through floors. Usually TASing a bitclip will take several days of full work and trial and error, which is not realistic. To avoid this, I've used a hack to put banjo into the correct position. This has been the standard for previous Banjo LOTADs. Doing the bitclips without hacked positions would look similar to what is in this video. It is very important to note that everything in this TAS is possible to do without the position hacks and would look quite similar.
Final TAS Time from power on to final input: 19:28
Final RTA Time from starting the new file to last egg in jinjonator: 16:44
Note: These times would be a bit lower on console because loading times take longer on emulator.

Thinking about how there are hundreds of children out there who were fascinated by Banjo-Kazooie when it first came out. And those same hundreds of children decided that it would be fun to fuck the game up as much as possible.
I know I'm late to the party , and I don't know how it took me so long to find this. But this was my favorite game as a kid when it came out and you have a lot of talent. The commentary is also really appreciated!! Excellent vid
YO I'M SO HYPE RN, I'VE WATCHED YOUR CRASH 3 TAS VIDEOS LIKE ACTUALLY 20 TIMES I AM POPPING OFF RN SO HARD AT 8AM.
that was very enjoyable, thanks for the TAS and commentary!
A lot of awesome tricks and appreciate the commentary so i can understand what's going on. Love the channel and the vids!
Nice! Also very interesting commentary. Thank you!
Great run and excellent commentary. I don't know much about this run but this looks quite optimized to me.
Categorizing this as a LOTAD when most LOTADs I've seen are very sloppy with clearly RTA segments is quite unfair to the work you've done.
You clearly put in work for this. Losing a frame here and there is understandable when you want to produce a product within a reasonable time frame.
Anyways excellent TAS. Keep it up!
literally been waiting for this since 2020
Loved the commentary, thanks!
the fact that the vast majority of characters in the credits never appear in the playthrough is pretty funny
Dang, that was super cool ! It kinda baffles me that with all those crazy clips, there's no way to just clip into the room with the water switch...
Yeah it would work in theory but the loading zone to the room only works if youre the pumpkin
@@The8bitbeast Oooh, that explains it then.
I still get surprised every time I hear an Aussie or New Zealander accent on the Internet. I shouldn't be, but I am, cos I grew up in a time when the Oceanians had really bad Internet.
Also, cool video
Awesome video, loved it.
Absolutely brilliant, well played.
sick video, love your work
Mad monster mansion used to scare me as a kid
The PAL version runs at 25fps. The PAL version is optimized. Same with Donkey Kong 64.
Nice TAS
Awesome vid man.
Good video bud.
Very impressive 😁
LET'S GO
Very good :)
Damn, bit clips are OP. You're sure it's possible to control your position that precisely?
Yeah its tricky but possible. We've been able to get many of the useful ones RTA with precise movement setups
This game sure is broken when you consider how many gamebreaking glitches there are.
Most games from this era are ridiculously broken, probably because everyone just started using polygons and the Z-axis
especially when you consider how you can manipulate the game breaking bugs to break the game. it really is broken by that metric
Most games are broken. End of story.
there is no way to clip into that house where you can raise the water level as banjo to skip the pumpkin?
Nah unfortunately not. Even if you clip in, the loading zone only works if youre the pumpkin
CAN you get to click clock wood before you enter any other levels? i know you can clip through a lot of tapestry but i wonder if you can clip all the way to click clock wood with all the moves and then you can do the whole game in reverse!
you could then unlock every previous level from the clip entries!
it would be an AWESOME run if you could demonstrate for us
You can clip into CCW but you need to enter Mad Monster Mansion first to access it since you need to raise the water level in the lair
@@The8bitbeast but is there a way to possibly ledgeclip into that loading zone on that house outside MMM?
@@dante224real1 You could probably clip in there but the loading zone only works if you're the pumpkin, even if you touch it with Banjo.
@@The8bitbeast well then is there a way to instead bypass that whole segment? i mean can you somehow clip into the loadzone for the click clock wood lobby area (with the whipping branches entrance) without filling the water reserve?
i think there could be some kind of way to do that if so
@@dante224real1 If we could skip into that it would shorten the any% TAS by a lot of time. It's something that I really want to find.
If you use cheats and finish furnace fun, it deletes your game file but puts you at the end of Furnace fun, If oyu could find a slip into click clock wood with no moves and somehow collect 25 tokens, then you coudl get in with fresh file
Can the 810 door be skipped in RTA or is it currently TAS only?
Have there been any live runs where someone accidentally bit clipped randomly and had the run really messed up by it?
Nah since you have to be basically still its pretty unlikely. The closest thing is this, which is how it was discovered: ruclips.net/video/FgG0tpaMDdA/видео.html
Why is a TAS using FFM? I thought TASes had to be on a blank cartridge? The DK64 TAS doesn't use new game plus.
So, do you think that if you did go and turn this into a real TAS without any hacking, you'd be able to get to the precise locations as quickly as the imprecise ones you've then hacked to be correct, or will each one take substantially more game time?
They would take slightly longer but if done well it shouldnt be any more than 1-2 more seconds
@@The8bitbeast per, or total?
@@romajimamulo per. But most would be quicker than that
9/10 you’re not rhyming like Grunty
wow
Why do you play on Deutsch? Is the text faster?
How do you get the flags?
What flags?
@@The8bitbeast 0:34
@@nathanraykhman1950 I think that's a feature of the PAL version, don't think it's in the NTSC version tho
ANAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAA AMMMONGGG USSSS????!?!?!!!????

FFM is NG+. Nothing wrong with NG+ runs.
There’s no way that you can possibly do this run on N64. You’re using a ton of hacks not just a couple.
