Thank you guys so much for being here❤ I went back and forth about posting this video a million times because I feared no one would understand what I'm feeling. However, I'm glad it's up, and I hope this video helps anyone who is/has been experiencing something similar❤ I'm much better now, but it's a process that will take time. We hope you guys are enjoying 2024 so far and we can't wait to share more of this new phase of our lives this year❤

Such a wonderful video and honest insight into what so many of us experience, no matter the direction someone is taking but especially in creative fields. We definitely understand a lot of what you were saying - especially the loneliness and although we love what we’re doing and each others company, we crave the social connection.
      Thanks, Oskar! ❤

Have you ever thought of getting a 9-5 job? It sounds like you are the type who thrives on having constant tasks to do and need some type of schedule to be happy. Since you no longer wants to travel frequently, I think it would be a healthier for you to concentrate on something whether it be actually doing a 9-5 job for the moment which I think will help you mentally, or start a new project that you are passionate about. Maybe going back to school would be a good thing for you while Dan does his airline reviews. Check out Tyler and Todd. They started off travel in camper vans and then ended up getting a plot of land in Canada and started to build their channel around construction of their dream home from scratch. If you thrive better at staying put and make steady friends, then perhaps you want to get a place and do home remodeling (if you are talented that way)? People's lives constantly change and there is nothing wrong with changing the direction of Oskar and Dan channel.

We have been travelling for almost 4 years full time now. Unlike you, we are “slow travellers”, which I think makes it much easier. We usually like to stay in one place for at least a few months and do our exploring. This allows us time to relax and make multiple videos about the location we’re in. We do miss our friends and family, and we try to get back home as often as we can, but it can feel lonely at times. Hope you can find a new purpose now that you are slowing things down :)

Thank you so much, Oskar, for sharing your honest feelings in that beautiful video. I have a suggestion for you: why not write a book about your challenge of visiting 100 countries before the age of 25? You have a unique story to tell and writing a book could be a wonderful new purpose for you.

I’m with you. I was a nurse for 30 years and was fired for caring too much about the patients. In a way I was relieved because seeing the healthcare system decline I just could not be that kind of nurse. It is very easy to feel you have no purpose. I too work with my therapist to work on ways to fulfill that void. Thanks for sharing this and all your videos as they help me.

Right now I just want to reach out and give you a virtual hug. Don't sell yourself short: you ARE valued as an important person in the lives of many people. You are a great individual. We are all plagued with self-doubt (heck, I'm 70 years old now and I still have to deal with it). Take all the time you need to work through this. Focus more on your music. Be assured we'll all be here for you when you need us.

Hi Oskar! You and Dan have gained so much experience through your travels together. You can leverage that experience to create new content.
    For example:
5 minute micro learning videos on the top 5 favorite experiences in each country. You make one for each country you want to talk about and that right there are 20-30 videos of content.
Another suggestion is to have someone interview you and Dan about each country you visited. It could be a series of videos on "reflections from our 100 country travels"
There is so much value you've already created. Leverage it to build someone new, like connection videos.
I'm sending you both a big virtual hug. Thanks for teaching me so much about the world ❤

Speaking as a retired psychiatrist with an interest in psychotherapy: therapy isn't like taking a pill. You need to define with your therapist a problem that you want to work on together. But what you are describing is a feeling of general discouragement. Gratitude and meditation won't help much, if at all. It sounds as though the main problem is that you say "We don't have a choice". You always have a choice. You don't have to go on YouTubing - but do it if you really want to. You could live in a house or flat for part of the year and travel the rest of the time. You are both educated, articulate and multilingual - very employable. You have each other. The most important thing is to decide what you want to do.

Wow! What a wonderfully honest, authentic and worthwhile video! I saw the thumbnail a day or so ago, and was worried, but thenI incorrectly assumed that the title was clickbait, and you were going to say that you’d taken a wrong turn while travelling from one location to another. Now that I’ve watched it, I’m very moved by your words. I’m also mightily relieved that you and Dan are still together. Oskar, you are a terrific person, and I’m sure we viewers would be more than happy to watch whatever content you create. I will pray that you (and Dan) discover what your next ‘move’ is. Thank you both for all you’ve given us. You are loved! I’m in my 60’s, and am very grateful for all you both have taught me. Whatever you do in the future, I, and so very many others, will be.cheering you on.

Wow. You don’t know how much I am able to relate to this. The big difference is I am 53 and you’re still so young. You see, I worked for a famous mouse in Orlando for 29 years. In 2020 my position was eliminated due to the pandemic. Working at the World was all that I knew. It’s 2024 and I’m still working to find myself. I started a travel RUclips during the pandemic and it has been my “focus”. Luckily, my hubby and I are now following our dream and we are about to move to Bali permanently. I’m nervous and excited for this new chapter. Anyway, all the best to you and Dan. Here’s to the future…AND YOU! Come visit!

Oskar, I want to give you a hug for being so open and candid about what’s been going on. I am grateful that you feel comfortable with sharing what you’ve been feeling. I retired at the end of 2022 and 2023 was my time to travel. I did a lot in spite of nearly having a full blown heart attack in the summer. This year I’ve already done 3 trips but I’ve been faced with what you described, lack of purpose, I’ve been trying to enrich my mind now that I have the maturity to understand more then when I was in college. Take care of yourself and feel all of those feelings, good or bad. Regards to Dan👍🙏😎

I hear you and I see you! I’m gay, loved geography and the cultures that came with it. Also travelled into a deep dark hole around some of the issues you discuss. I questioned my self worth and, at times, felt like an imposter. Difference - I am 60. I wish I had the foresight and introspection you are sharing at your age! I didn't have the tools or insights into myself to do so at your age - it took awhile to get there! Stick with therapy, build your tool kit, make social connections where you live, dive into your music, communicate with your husband, and stick to it one day at a time. It gets better! Thaks for bringing joy into my life through your adventures. Come to Philadelphia - you’ll love it here!

And I think we all need to take a minute in our lives and regroup and look at where we are and where we're going--literally and metaphorically. I think you're doing great, Oskar. Hearing what you've had to say I can tell you're going to figure it out. And I'm so grateful that you've had the courage to post this--it's a big help to everyone else going through this. And we all are--or will be--at some point!

As a pre internet person I find the concept of bearing your soul to the world quite daunting. You’ve achieved a mountain of experiences for a young man and now it’s stops abruptly.
My advice is to fundamentally apply patience to your life at this time. The building blocks are there for your next path in life. Try meditating (you probably already are)…patience can be so challenging but so rewarding, take care…

I always come back to watching you guys because you are genuine, kind humans. Thank you for your honesty! For what it's worth, I'm a nurse and while in nursing school (and in practice) we focus a lot on the the psychosocial stages of life and development put forward by Erik Erikson. For example, I'm married with two kids so I'm in "Middle Age" where the "task" is Generativity vs Stagnation. The virtue is "care" and the main focus is contributing to society and being part of a family. So, this means raising kids who hopefully go on to be good humans and care for the next generation of life and planet! You are in Early Adulthood which ranges from about 19-29. The "task" is Intimacy vs Isolation, the virtue is love. The goal is establishing intimacy and relationships with others. I have a 16 year old son so according to Erikson he is in the "identity vs confusion" stage (adolescence). Sometimes my husband worries about things regarding our kids but I'm always able to keep perspective because of studying Erikson's stages and it grounds me. I'm like, no - they're right where they're supposed to be and this is completely normal development! There's a lot more to Erikson than I'm hitting on here. It's worth a deep dive if you're interested (he was a contemporary of Freud but more commonly embraced today). I say all this because you are in a transition and maybe you are starting to think about the next stage of life a little.

I commend you, Oskar, for sharing your internal feelings since after your travel challenge. It seems like you're at a crossroads. I think people would LOVE to watch videos about you and Dan. Maybe consider turning the channel into more of a travel/personal vlog. You have the ability since you've been doing it on your travels and I'm sure people would love to see your day-to-day activities, your journey back to the piano, what happens when you and Dan aren't traveling. Well, it's something to consider. I'm sure there would be lots of interest and it might help bring your purpose back, re-energize the channel, and still allow you to travel part time. I'm sure whatever you decide, it'll be fantastic! Stay well, know you are loved. All the very best!

Traveled 15 years for work. Life changing experiences happened every week. Your eyes, brains and emotions can't take in everything offered on each new adventure. There are sacrifices and compromises that come along the way. At first, seemingly insignificant and a low price to pay 'for all this'. Then the personal costs increase, the enthusiasm drains. The body and mind fail to rebound as quickly as they once did. The things that recharge you no longer work. Eventually spending more time being still, slowing down and finding a place to sooth the mind, soul and body becomes a stronger inner motivator. Thank you for voicing your journey so openly. You are well equipped to make the better choices for yourself. For me, home is living at 9,000' on a mountain, in the middle of a desert in a forest. Occasionally leaving by car to explore and spend time in other natural setting. The breathe of life in these places are life-giving and healing. Life simplified has been the right choice for me. You WILL find your place.

Hello Oskar this is a message from someone several decades older than you. The most ridiculous of all our emotions is worry. Life is binary. Most of the things which causes us to worry are beyond our control. Let the problems which we can not affect dissolve and let them go. Then only focus on the issues which you can affect. Next learn to understand the importance of being able to shit one's focus. If you can effect even a slight change in one's perspective you will be very pleasantly be surprised. When you do this you will discover the joy of impermanence; nothing lasts. All we have is now. When one really can only live in the now the shackles of the past and the future will disappear and one will discover genuine deep happiness. Once discovered this happiness can be sustained by being kind to those we encounter.

This is a very wise comment. I’m not sure one can learn this other than the hard way though, through internal realisation and making mistakes. Most people don’t even learn from that. But I wish this whole way of thinking and viewing the world was more intuitive so people could learn this without doing it the hard way.

Hi Oskar! Thanks for sharing - I worked in show business in Daytime TV. The most famous show I worked on was Oprah's talk show. After nine years of working there, the show ended and I felt like I lost my identity and it was a struggle. I was able to work on another show with the actress Valerie Bertinelli for Food Network for many years. When that ended, I noticed a change in Daytime TV and broadcast viewership. Once again I felt like I was losing my identity. After journaling every day with my intent and gratitude and embracing the unknown, I'm living out a new dream! I'm living in my favorite city (NYC, Manhattan to boot) and enjoying a new adventure with SERHANT. as a licensed real estate salesperson. I trusted the path of the unknown and I couldn't be happier. I wish the same for you and Dan!

Hey Oskar, It takes a brave man to admit vulnerability to himself & those close to him,to put it out there in front of all your subscribers - whom I would hope like myself - are also your supporters; supporters of you both.
My apologies for any mistakes as I'm very dyslexic, but,I watched what you had to say a couple of times & whatever you choose to do,I know you9'll be a success; I hope you enjoy going forward, putting into practice what you have learned up to now.
As a man of 60,who knew he was different from the age of 3/4, I have lived a very blessed life.Travel, was part of my father's work & my mother had already gone round the world by herself before meeting him,so we were all brought up to respect others, be it their culture, religion, diversity if we wanted respect for ourselves. Condensed down to its most basic,it means treat others the way you'd like to be treated but, also never let others mistake your kindness for weakness. Both of those statements apply to yourself, probably most importantly,to yourself; that was something that therapy helped me to remember & instigate into my own life & travels that has taken me around the world.
As someone who loves the destination far more than the journey, I've watched your travels & enjoyed your experiences, vicariously. Having had a "serious" bf from the age of 20/1 ,through to my early 30s,where we parted as friends, I can empathise more with you, than - this from personal perspective & discussion with other gay men - even the most well intentioned straight friend/ally. Having had two more 10+ yr relationships,we do in the gay world deal with things that our best straight friend, just don't understand. Sadly the world is in the main, designed & run as a hetronormative society; something I would particularly notice when photos were taken - looking back at old photos - though we could put a "manly arm" around each others shoulder,we certainly couldn't kiss or engage in many of the PDAs of those around us. Thankfully I've seen much change through my lifetime, but,the very fact that gay love can still ,by law, threat of imprisonment & in worst case death,in about 70 countries around the world, so one thing I would encourage you - with you capacity for languages as well as your obvious intelligence & erudition - to get involved in the politics of how we as an important part of any society, be it our capacity to create & at its most basic our impact we make with "pink " money & where/how we spend it - going on global figures for 2019,LGBTQ++ adults had a combined buying power of $3.7 TRILLION ! That is of course not taking into account the potential for gay youth and the people who aren't open about their identity.
I'm delighted to hear you're involved in Therapy nor surprised at your present reaction, kudos for starting the work on the one thing no one else can access or change, yourself.
Going forward I wish you - both - every happiness & joy that we can open our lives to. As a father of a son in his mid 40s,I can certainly tell you children do add reason to one's existence, but, remember there are sadly hundreds of thousands of children, who've lost their own families because they've been brave enough to define who they are & again, there are many organisations around the world, who would benefit hugely from the input of someone like yourself.
Finally I would like thank you & Dan for letting me join your journey & enjoy the content you both work so hard to create. Very best wishes to you&yours; looking forward to the next stage of your journey💥👊👋💙💙👌🏳️‍🌈⭐️'s💯👏👏❤️💯✌️

Oskar, I really resonate with your post. Early in my career, I had a job for which I traveled almost 200,000 miles a year and lived in Los Angeles, New York, and London. I too felt lost when I stopped traveling. I moved into a second career, clinical psychology, and I am grateful to say it has been very rewarding. Just want you to know that I have a deep empathic connection for you as you have completed a major goal so early in your life and are experiencing a sense of loss. You and Dan are interesting, vibrant, young men, and I know that your career will be filled with other passions in due course.

Thanks for sharing. I know I'm not alone when I say that it's refreshing in a weird way to watch someone like you Oscar, open up about this kind of thing - especially as for many of us you guys are synonymous with a couple of guys out there having a blast 24/7 and "living their best life" having amazing experiences that so many of your viewers would love to do. And many of us are also admittedly curious about what life for you guys is really like BTS (as it were) as you do what you do. Being vulnerable like this helps people like me realise that when we feel lost or low sometimes it's not necessarily because we're not out there travelling the world and seeing all there is to see... we might feel that way even if we were/had done all that. In other words it not about wishing you had a "better" or more exciting life, its about finding things in the life you DO have that bring you joy and purpose.

I thought this was touching and heartfelt and vulnerable in all the best ways and I also think it gives a fascinating insight into the pressures attendant on being a content creator. It’s very easy to see the fun and the glamour and forget about the relentless need to produce content, regardless of your inclinations at the time. Thank you for highlighting this unspoken but undeniable aspect of being on RUclips.

Oskar, you are definitely not alone. I can relate so much to what you said. I live in a transient city which makes me want to change locations, travel the world, go on weekend city breaks etc. And the point on loneliness really resonates post-Covid.

Oskar (and Dan!) thank you for being vulnerable and honest about your experience. I feel like many travel-related channels only focus on the glamorous and rewarding parts of traveling the world, but don't acknowledge the toll it can take on you physically and mentally. I am like you in that I like to have everything planned out in life, but as I get older I'm constantly reminded that so much of life is unpredictable, and sometimes that can be a good thing! I have no doubt you will find your next path or calling. You should feel proud of where you are now - much love to you both!

Love you guys !! ❤ Love all that you do !! ❤ You talked awhile back of finding a home-base somewhere in the world that would give you access to good flights everywhere (though you fell in love with New Zealand it was too far off the beaten path to fit that need). I cannot imagine how hard it would be to live out of a suitcase for most of the year. You 2 deserve a home to call your own and to be surrounded by friends and family. Make that your priority this year and find happiness. Know that you are loved. ❤❤

Brave of you to share! You guys are so young and have accomplished so much. But your worth does not come from what you've done, but from who you are. A break to recharge and reprioritize is so valuable. I'd love to hear some of your compositions as backing tracks to your (or someone else's) videos one day.
