Not the biggest fan of the desert storm color, but I'm loving these new boxy toyota designs. I've driven the tundra and sequoia at work but just putting around. I'd love taking something like that offroading one day. Looks like you had a blast Jeff
My 2014 GX460will be paid off next month. I want to enjoy the lack of a car payment but these are making it tough! However, I am sad about the loss of rear air suspension because it's awesome when I tow and haul. I also regret that I can't get the overtrail with a 3rd row as we do use ours every now and then.
Don't see a reason why some of the comments say they like it because it does not have a 3rd row. Have a 3rd row and make it fold flat just like in premium / luxury trims. It is not like overtrail has additional trunk space because it does not a 3rd row. For that matter, there is no additional second row leg room as well. Logically it does not make any sense in deleting the 3rd row. Jeff / others can explain if they saw any reason(s) for 3rd row deletion.
If I owned one, I would start figuring out a rack and storage system so I can add a place to keep recovery gear, a fridge, and other camping stuff. I'm going to be adding weight to the vehicle. So if I can remove the bit of weight of the seats, I appreciate that savings even if it's not a crazy amount of weight. Still, modern seats are fairly heavy, so it's not insignificant. And when you're going to be bumping up close to the GVWR, every bit helps. I totally get your point of view, though.
@@TheHooniverse still your argument does not help from second row leg room perspective. No additional weight comes with a bit more second row legroom. Particularly when 3rd row is deleted, the least thing automobile makers can do is, add a bit of leg space for second row and make it a comfortable vehicle. No point in pushing all of that space for trunk. I do understand your logical explanation about 3rd seats weight and I do get your explanation as a real issue.
Jeff, I ain't gonna lie....it's gotta be fun to beat the crap out of a vehicle that costs as much as a small house. Your daughter looks less then impressed :-)
Not a difficult one, just the road leading to Holy Jim in Orange County CA. I would’ve gone up Maple Springs Truck Trail but it’s been closed with all the rain
@@sunchaser999 Thats incredibly subjective. Again, it should be an option. If you want it deleted great. If someone wants it, great. It doesnt have to be a total omission. That, or make E-KDSS an option on the other trims like they used to. I have 4 kids and daily a GX470. My wifes last car was a GX460. My mom also has a GX460 and helps us with childcare and carpooling with the kids. They work really well for us. I do not want a Sequoia after considering it. Our gear will be going into a MDC XT17 camper. The GX550 Overtrail would be perfect for us if it had a 3rd row.
I hate to say $70,000 seems like a good deal but this thing compared to a G wagon? I don’t think this will just take away defender sales, this sick looking truck might take away G550 sales. This thing is rad, looks like something a mercenary would drive around.
@@TheHooniverse You see people driving around in their blinged-out Gwagens with their roller skate 22s (and probably 23s, 24s now - I think I even saw an ad for 26s) and it's an embarassing joke!

I love every iteration of the GX. If I was ever in the market for an SUV, the GX Overtrail would be it! Thanks for posting!

Jeff, the vicious side eye on that Sentra on the trail is fire. Great review!
Thank you for the review without cliches. Precise and informative

Got an OT+ allocation this week
It’s better than a Range Rover everyday..❤😂..
Does anyone know which trail this is?
Not a difficult one, just the road leading to Holy Jim in Orange County CA. I would’ve gone up Maple Springs Truck Trail but it’s been closed with all the rain
We really would have the option to get a 3rd row with the OverTrail models. People with larger families go camping too.
Yeah they want to sell you a Sequoia TRD Pro for that
Too small for a larger family IMO. I appreciate the decision to delete the third row. There’s much better options for bigger families.

I’m looking at this for our family of 4 because it does not have a 3rd row and has great cargo space for all our camping gear.

Defender buyers buy that for the look at me part of it.
G Wagen is a very different class of vehicle price and lux wise
A Land Rover and G wagon customer won't go buy a Lexus. They drive them because those brands give them the status.
