Low gear, 2 locks and manual mode is overkill for any technical offroad at low and very low speeds. For more than 20-30mph offroad drive modes can be used with ESP off and standard high gear
This must drive auto manufacturers and engineers nuts. Off-road auto reviewers in general make the same mistake all the time with all types of off-road vehicles. They like to run the vehicle without the vehicle set in the proper off-road driving mode until it gets stuck, then criticize the vehicle. Then they try to reset the vehicle in proper off-road driving mode while stuck. It’s so dumb because one is trying to off-road the vehicle when it’s set in an on-road configuration, so of course it’s going to get stuck. Today’s off-road vehicles are designed to set the the proper driving mode prior to driving in the off-road conditions. Meaning if your going to go through sand, then set the mode to sand and engage your lockers before driving on sand. It doesn’t take a genus to figure this out.
I agree with your point, mostly. I will also point out that many end users simply hop in their vehicles and drive them like they've been doing for the last 30 years of their lives and don't take time to properly learn the vehicle either. So there is a value in simplicity and ease of use. I don't hold it against the GX.
These are the same dudes who got the towing capacity of the current Pathfinder entirely wrong when it's literally the main differentiating point. The also stated the towing capacity of the gx550 is over 9k pounds when it's 8,800 pounds. I absolutely would not use their content for buying advice.
A little advice put it on manual mode use you paddle shifters pick a gear I Actually tend to keep mine in second gear. The problem is that when your in automatic it’s always going to be searching for that optimal gear the problem with that is the transmission will begin to over heat so you are in control of the shifting. That’s a mistake a lot of people make on automatic transmission manual is the best for dune’s or trying to crest a really steep sand dune
Yup, but unfortunately Toyota/Lexus hasn't been finalizing their sound systems in the pre-production models, so we've got to wait a while for production units to be in the review fleet.
Probably one of the best off road review, everyone else has the literally the same content, interview with chief designer, pre determined road and off road track etc etc , this one is refreshingly different. Where is this car available to test drive or check out in Southern California @DailyMotor ?
Learn how to use manual mode save your transmission pick a gear and stay on it if your trying to climb hills crawl control is only used when your stuck in deep sand or on rock climbing

How did you get access to the GX 550?
Was this a Press event?
I would like to test, drive one as well!

You got crawl to engage then the video flipped to another segment? Did it fail the sand trap hill?
Well with it not engaging in a rut, I would say yes.
I didn't attempt it, not sure if it would have made it or not.
At least learn the ins and out of the car you are showing before making the video. Pressing all buttons at once does not make a good first impression

Overtrail is rated at 9063 lbs
@@hamsterbrigadeLexus updated it to 9k a few weeks ago.
Actually helpful to realize there are a lot of features and one will be in the same place if you don’t study first.

Good advice will store it in memory but for my Yaris doesn't have of those functions. 😂😂😂😂
Excellent! Can we expect an audio review/comparison of the Base and Mark Levinson systems on the DM Sound channel?

Read owner's manual! lol
Yea all the I don’t know. Lexus should stop sending this guy test vehicles
I almost feel sorry for Land Rover at this point.
This is a super quiet luxury seeing you drive it off-road

Glad you appreciated! They should be showing up to dealers any time now. I unfortunately don't have access to this test vehicle anymore.
which exterior color is this?
Where’s the compass ?
You can add a compass on the gauge cluster if you want.
@@SethHalstead One feature that my FJ had was a compass in the rear view mirror. Not a dail , just "SW" "NW" etc

Shouldn’t have paid more attention in the briefings
Why buy anything else.
Charlie, I am hoping the upcoming, affordable Land Cruiser FJ has 16" rims with plenty of sidewall. 😁
The answer is no based on the Toyota LC build configurator that is already available on the official Toyota website.
@@4ft3rburn3r I don't think the Land Cruiser FJ has a 'configurator' yet.
@@rightlanehog3151Its on Toyota's website I tried posting a link several times but it keeps getting deleted.
👍
This cannot tow 9000 i don't know why they told all of you that.
Because that is what Lexus said. You know better than Lexus?
