I think when the parents left started a new life, somewhere else were the beginning of the end of the little house it started to go downhill. also changing opening credits didn't help.. But I think by the ninth season when it focused on the Laura didn't really work either. She become to middle class and at times spoke like one. If the show focused on the new family as the main characters with simpler theme as little house were at the beginning. It may survived. But I think by the ninth season it were on the cards that it end if they made season ten. But the ending were brilliant blowing the town up so that greedy ground owner had no town and being warned by other towns they do the same were brilliant too. It ended at the right time also as most originally cast left it werw not the same.❤
l grown up it didn't really was the same as other seasons. But if they focused on the new family that bought the house and made them the main characters as a new beginning and the daughter took a back Sir still appeared in it it may still last longer. But I think the sgmhow were moving away from working class town people to more like middle class Laura was for sure werw more middle vlass as she originally started out to be. It Ash Mary were not in the last episode. I think it ended. Come at the right time & blowing up the town were best way to end the show

South Park is also iconic just like Little House On The Prairie but with South Park is more aimed at adults, and they parody nearly everyone and everything in the world, every topic ETC and if South Park does reach one last and final season of the show. That is how I'd want South Park to go just Trey Parker and Matt Stone parodying "Little House On The Prairie: The Last Fairwell." Would be a extremely very sad but great ending to a show everyone loves.

The ending, I believe, was the best way to conclude a show that could never be recreated, & it returned the land to its original state. It must have been sad for everyone involved, but it was prophetic too. Times were changing, not just at the show’s end, but in the world. Rest in peace, Michael Landon. You were taken too soon. Thank you for the gifts you left behind, you and the entire cast. 💞 “Little House on the Prairie” was, and always will be, my favourite show. Sadly, it would never last a season in today’s world. I was fortunate to grow up with it in my childhood. “The Waltons” was an equally worthwhile show. How the world has changed, for the worse. May the lessons of love, family and God, never be lost. 🏡🙏🏼💖😇🌠

But, it was a great way to end even though it was sad. If he could’ve bought that property somehow, it could’ve been a tourist attraction. Easily like $50 to walk through that “ town”. It would’ve been worth it. One of my fave shows. But I could easily envision it ending up in later series such as dr Quinn.

I believe that Michael had this awesome idea of blowing up the town of Walnut Grove for 2 reasons. 1. Blowing it up saved having to tear down the buildings on set. All they had to do was bulldoze the debris up along with other clean up jobs. He promised he would leave the set the way it looked before filming Little House and he kept his promise. 2. He kept his promise as I said, but what better way to end the show then to go out with a bang, and I mean a real bang.

the greatest family program of all time..I watched as a child
Michael Landon was an icon as a man as an actor but most of all as a Christian
These shows represented how a family should be perfectly.. and it showed every person who watched that no family is ever perfect and that as humans we are not perfect..we all have flaws and weaknesses that require us to go through some pain or anguish in order to overcome..
But most importantly this show taught every fan of it that God is the one true creator and that all things are dealt with by God in God's time not man's..
It's no wonder why the luciferians hated this show and constantly attack it...
It put God and family and faith above all else
    God bless Michael Landon..
This world needs more men with his genuine values..
It's sad that Mr. Landon passed away so young..
But I'm sure he is with God now
He did his part in getting millions to open their hearts and minds to the fact that we must build our faith and trust in God

The truth was Michael Landon did not want anyone else to film movies or tv shows using the Walnut Grove sets, thus being the reason they blew them up. For example, he couldn't imagine a horror movie being filmed inside Oleson's mercantile - can't say that I blame him. . . The actual little house that the Ingalls family, and later on in the series the Carter family, lived in was NOT blown up. It was actually given to one of the actors and this actor decided to store the house on his ranch. In my personal opinion, the little house belongs in the Smithsonian or somewhere fans can visit and enjoy it - not on someone's ranch acquiring dust and termites!

They Hollywoodized the stories so much, they're more fictional than the books. You cant really write the hard times the Ingalls and Wilders went through I suppose it wouldnt have drawn people to watch. but I just think Pa and Ma and their families would hardly of recognized themelves in Michael Landons re-creation of them.

Landon knew the show had run past its course as the girls had grown up, both in the story and in real life. It was impossible to keep that same level of engagement that the show originally had. Fans simply had zero interest in watching a new family or set of core characters, in fact it was downright insulting to many. Times were also changing in the real world to what folks on tv wanted to see and so a remnant show from the Gerald Ford era was no longer relevant. People wanted something fresh and current to the new 80s society. Hence he was already working on pitching Highway to Heaven to start a new journey.
