I concur. It was Karen "Ma Ingalls" Grassle who proclaimed Katherine MacGregor as her No.1 friend on the show, and their friendship went on until MacGregor's death. Karen herself described Katherine as a big sister and many times a second mother. She really helped her through some really dark times in her life on set and off. Katherine MacGregor was marvelous in this role and a versatile, brilliant actress. And I don’t use that term lightly. Watch her in the early episodes where Harriet is sinister. Completely convincing. I will always remember her speech to Nancy when she tried to convince her to be adopted. She talked about Nelly showing she knew what was really good and evil in her daughter, so in life too.
I remember this episode when it originally aired because the costume at 11:50 was interpreted with a fabric that was used in the Los Angeles clothing manufacturing industry because at the time swap meet sellers would buy the blocks of cuttings of the yardage so people could make quilts. What we found were white background with various single colors in the raised bumps in lines. The cutters would layer the fabric and cut it with industrial cutters and keep the leftovers together which the ladies would buy since you did not need a complete large piece of fabric to cut out your quilt pieces.
Not if you read Alison Arngrim's memoir "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch." She said that 'she was not actually Mrs. Oleson incarnate, but my God, she was close.' However did DID say that Katherine, unlike Mrs. Oleson, was not prejudice.

Michael Landon struck gold when he hired Katherine McGreagor as Mrs. Oelson. He gave her a starting point and she just took off with it. She ended up being a regular villain. That's hard to do but she was perfect for it. She was a huge part of the show's success.
She was such a fantastic character actress. One of the very best.
One of my favorite show when I was growing up. Mrs Olson and Nellie annoyed me so much. These clips brought back memories. 😂 Mr. Olson was a saint to deal with them.
The Ingalls were my favorite family. ❤
Love Mrs oleson outrage! Thank you for the video.
I will always remember her speech to Nancy when she tried to convince her to be adopted. She talked about Nelly showing she knew what was really good and evil in her daughter, so in life too.
I felt Nancy was worse then Nellie.
It's fantastic that Thu know that! Thanks for sharing.
The toilet one had me rolling!
I hear Mrs Oleson come out of my mouth every time I say “Oh for heavens sake!”
She truly was a classic character who played the part of mrs Olson very well.she will be missed.
The character played itself?
Died at age 93.... a long life....
Absolutely luv them both really help put the show together
The one & only - Loved her !
I don’t know why this was in my feed but I pounced this is awesome
She has her own 'theme song'. That 'waddling' tune!
The fact that this video even exists is amazing!
It is so ironic that Katherine was most generous and was not pretentious at all.
Not if you read Alison Arngrim's memoir "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch." She said that 'she was not actually Mrs. Oleson incarnate, but my God, she was close.' However did DID say that Katherine, unlike Mrs. Oleson, was not prejudice.
@@retroguy9494 I was going off of an interview that Melissa Gilbert gave.
She was a fantastic actress. I really liked seeing her on the show.
I loved the one where Nellie was faking like she was crippled and in a wheelchair, until Laura peeped her through the window doing the Macarena, so to get even, sbe pushed Nellie down this big ass hill and she rolled into tbe creek splashass right in front of Mrs. Olson.
One of the main scenes that i and many others remember from the show. lol
Um.....you KNOW the Macarena didn't exist in the 1870's, right?
The macarena? What?! 😂😂
@@retroguy9494I'm laughing so hard just picturing her or any other LHOTP character doing the macarena though 🤣
@@hannahroberts673 LOL 😂
Here is an image you can picture in your mind Hannah. Pa in the little house playing his fiddle and Ma and the girls dancing the Macarena to his song! 😜
She had such comedic talent. Made the show
Despite of her snobby, I love her. She was funny.
Love this show & always will! Great childhood memories watching with my brother & mom. ☺️
Same!
She was so funny. I loved her character!
Ms. MacGregor played Mrs. Olsen so well that she became a T.V. Classic. Nicely done.
My favorite episodes are the ones where Mrs. Olsen gets her bloomers in a knot
You must have a whole bunch of favorite eps then. She had a real knack for doing that.
Im stillwatching re runs!!
Classic! Same mentality still exists today🤔
The best! Awesome acting skills
I loved the music when Mrs Oleson appeared in later seasons 😂
