Ian makes this job look like it's a walk in the park. He knows so much about everything. His designs are absolutely gems. He also seems to be so nice like always!
I would like to complement Jamie on her filming. In particular the muting of the sound during heavy grinding, the asking of questions and your interaction with Ian is really outstanding. The production of each new episode is getting better and better. I especially like how the both of you are opening up with a little more humor and banter. It is nice to see artists at work. Happy New Year and 100,000 subscribers is just around the corner!
Jamie asks the questions that someone who doesn't know needs to ask. Between the both of you, this video becomes a learning experience for ANYONE. Ian and Jamie you guys are fantastic together!!!! Jamie you are doing a fantastic job with your hubby!!!! Aloha from Hawai'i, Mama Leigh
Great fabrication, Ian. Jamie, you’re doing a fantastic job at directing and making sure you get a good, clean, and direct shot of what Ian is looking at.
Something I have found helpful when laying out curved lines, is the magnetic strip from inside a refrigerator door seal. Lay it out, adjust as necessary, trace with sharpie, remove strip then cut/grind/ whatever. Your work always inspires me to try something out of my norm.
Bello in Chula Vista did that with a similar car. The split window hung on the wall for years. One day he turned around at the wall and said "I got an idea". It looked sweet on the car. Broke up the width of the back.
Good Fixing Sir ,, I'm doing the same on a 48 Chevy coupe ,, digging Frank on the wall ,, and that table , dang 12 ft roller ,, a dandy for sure ,, You da Man 👍
Looking good. We are learning as you explain your method. Jamie indicated that you would need to widen the old roof section to make it work. She is learning what you are doing and anticipating your next move. Well done.
Hi Ian and Jamie. Love your show, The body work you do is pure art, that is sitting back to visualize an end result and make it work and I take my hat off to you. It is a fortunate person who can earn a living from what they love doing and are good at it. I am an Aussie product of the 50's and grew up around cars of this ilk and people who modified them. You are setting out to emulate rodding of the 50's - 60's and I am in awe of your creations but I do have to go back the that original era and what the boys had to work with then. No MIG for starters, Panel welding was done with Oxy so distortion was the big issue to combat then lead filled and filed as 2 pack filler was years away as were 4" grinders, air and battery tools, cutting was by way of tinsnips and hacksaw. Everything was done by hand and late nights. You are what we call the real deal and an inspiration to up and coming body workers to follow a dream to create something unique. I'll keep watching as long as you keep posting.
Looking good 👍 nice job on the expansion of the roof 🤔 it always amazed me that most builders don’t lap weld an under strip followed by the spacer strip because as you have said it is mega strong and the chance of rust is zero if prepped correctly. Keep up the good work guys 😎
I listen to you two in your shop while im working in mine. I have plenty of mc projects to keep me busy. Hahaha damn…a sawzall as a scraper. Hilarious, thanks
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
I love the questions Jamie contribute to the commentary. She ALWAYS makes exactly the same query I would want to if I was there in the shop, watching the process! Big love to you both. pm
I have been watching you for years! and I love to see another person that works the way I do! my friends think I am crazy most of the time! because I see what can be ! and don't do things the proper ways! I build custom mini choppers and trikes! you are an inspiration! and I never make it through a full video, because watching you makes me want to get out in the shop and build! thanks for being weird and showing that you don't have to be a rocket scientist to build some great stuff!!
Ian, I still have a mark on my right thigh where the prop came out from under the 48 Chev coupe hood as I was rough shaping the fiberglass nose job back in 57. This after the body man down the street torch welded the two halves. It was a friends we were working on it in his dad's gas station. As teens we all put a lot of work in that 48. Thus my interest in this project. I really appreciate your approach and eye for aesthetics. Again, happy I rediscovered you and am so looking forward to the ongoing progress. Appreciate the camera work and repartee...🤔⚘ Remembering the cameraman always lives...😂 Thanks so much for sharing. Trust y'all have a blessed, safe and prosperous New Year.
Greetings from South Carolina.. want to wish both a happy new year! Must say one thing... the motor trend show, great work as usual. BUT...not crazy about coming back from the commercial & the project is done. I understand your under different rules! It takes US away from seeing all your fabrication skills. Makes me appreciate the U tube " OUT OF THIS WORLD"...even more. I enjoy watching everything!😉👍✌️🥳
Thank you guys for all the hard work you put into making the videos and thank you for sharing them with us. Wishing You guys A Happy and Prosperous New Year..
Looking great Ian. Love the way you work. Do it your way. You are the one doing the project don't worry about the people telling you that they know better. Great projects. Thanks Marc from Australia

Glad I found this channel. Good to watch an artist creating and sharing techniques. My Dad was a fine artist and sculptor and I miss his magic, Thanks to both you folks for sharing yours.
This is awesome . Its nice to see a different method to the madness of a chop. I learned about how to chop my 41 from a guy who travels the country😅 doing classes and it just so happened the donor car was a 41.His name is Joel Davis. I did the suicide door conversion as well. Great tutorial ,thanks
Great job not big fan of chopping old rides man but I'll tell ya I've see other guys on you tube e just tear up kool old metal but Ian your jamming love out come its gonna be badass
It's looking choice. I used that same method on my 61 Apache truck when I widened my wheel wells 3 inches to build them into tubs.they came out really nice and straight. The roof line is coming along nicely.I guess Jamie called it on the roof huh.Take Care.
Happy New Year Jamie and Ian. Love your videos, and you both do so well in the videos and love the interaction between you both. Ian’s mastery of fabrication is so good to watch and enjoy his art work. Thank you, Kevin
We appreciate all the comments! Happy New Year!
I just saw the alien eyed rear windows for the VW. Super! Does this mean it will be 'Alien Green' painted when done??
Happy new year to you two as well have a great year.

😂😂😂😂😂
Ian, I like the way you change it up with your videos. You're doing a little work to each vehicle. It gives the show excitement.
Thank you!
You are a great metal worker, you see lines that aren’t even there your 5 steps ahead of the game. Keep up the great work.
I always enjoy watching your metal fabricating artistry....Your studies with the old Masters show. You Da Man.
Unbelievable! Love how Ian just knows how that steel is going to work. Such great vision.
Fantastic work as usual. It looks easy to fabricate but you’re the professional and expert. You are the man Ian!
Thank you very much!
Consider the split rear window style from early bugs.
And the front too
Bello in Chula Vista did that with a similar car. The split window hung on the wall for years. One day he turned around at the wall and said "I got an idea". It looked sweet on the car. Broke up the width of the back.

At the risk of repeating myself, "freakin' genius" - and I loved the Eddie Murphy/ Ralph Kramden reference: "...staaart tackin'..." 😛 👍👏
