    Liked the new camera angle Tony. That first chord was as full as a nice Christmas stout-full of spice and goodness! 🍻!

    When you play Tony nothing is ilegal because you have an exquisite taste to find tasty sounds ❤️

    Love it! That's a snappy tune! Have messed with it somewhat but haven't really brought it onboard with performance yet. Thanks for the thoughts and interesting harmonies / chords / turnarounds! I haven't thought of trying it in D-flat though I really like the sound of that key. So far, my natural inclination if the key of F for this one. Interesting. Thanks for sharing!

      DB is not a friendly key, I'll be the first to admit.

    One of my favorite tunes with a swing tempo/beat! Love the dissonant turnaround chords; it's a special treat when someone says: "Anita O'Day!" b/c I'm thinking no one knows the tune.

    What are the modifications for the changes on Joe Lovano’s “At the Vanguard”?

      I believe that's what you call lime writing. It's a particular style of big band arranging. Kind of beyond my ken at the moment

      Yes, the tune is a contrafact of stompin at the savoy but with some modifications

    What are your thoughts on what Thelonious Monk said “on the piano there is no such thing as a wrong note?”

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  Год назад

      Whew! I've always been guilty of many mistakes. Ok, well it depends on context. If ur improvising you can usually turn an unintended note into something that 'fixes' the situation. If ur in a classical piano competition...well not too many wrong notes plz. And Theo!, define 'wrong'.

    the piano being angled relative to the staff angers my Gf's OCD. Love the song though!

      I'd like that too. Too many different topics that I want go into - need a focused systematic path to follow otherwise it's far too easy to get distracted with so many different subject areas in jazz. I have one from other creators but their lessons don't hit the spot for me like Tony's do

      Guys, I'm with you. Many times I drift from one thing to another when practicing without any clear path. A major project for me would be to organize my videos into some kind of curriculum. But it's not a project I'm excited about doing!

      @@TonyWinston Yeah, does sound pretty tedious lol. I'd pay good money for a curriculum from you though, and I know many others like me would.
      I know you give private local lessons - can you maybe provide the same plan you give to your students?
      Honestly your box voicings have transformed my playing, but I have so many holes in other areas I end up trying to patch each one I find in a half-assed way.
      Again, I'd pay GOOD money for a TW course. I'm tired of feeling like I'm bullshiting on the piano
