  • The UK is lucky in having many fine jazz pianists, Pianist and composer Dave Newton is one of the most gifted musician of his generation in fact he has been voted top best British Jazz pianist on nine occasions.
The late renowned jazz critic and broadcaster Benny Green wrote of Newtons solo piano playing by saying
"the solo player is obliged to play the part of rhythm section to his own ruminationsThe player must have more than a fast left hand and a strong sense of rhythm. if he is not to bore the listener very quickly he must have a grasp of harmonic felicity which colours the improvisation. And most vital of all he must have perfect sence of time.Without time the entire proceedings collapse in a heap. Newton never disappoints, and always pulls off this trick with masterly aplomb"
Recorded at a private house concert 9th May 2003

Agree, it feels like there is a rhythm section there... but isn't
