  • Starting with a gold metallic base, I show you basic steps into doing a candy base, candy flames with a PAINTED outlined pinstripe.
    Video shows steps in getting the painted outline along with candy coated the job with House of Kolor Kandy Tangerine.
    Paint job done in a Harley motorcycle with a stretched tank
    Tape used in the paint job for the flame layout, pinstripe, and the 'insurance' tape
    3M fineline 1/16” tape (used on smaller panel jobs like motorcycle tanks and fenders)

    I’ve been through 1000’s of rolls through the years

    I just got back into custom painting after many years away. Love seeing these videos. Just watching them (If you have a understanding of painting) is almost like doing a job, just set's the layering into ones head.. obviously nothing beats spray time, but mentally these videos help a lot. Thanks!

    • @TAZattitude
      @TAZattitude  10 месяцев назад +1

      You do that last. You will need to clearcoat the tank, resand, apply your stencil. Make up a very reduced silver. Spray it to your liking, remove the stencil, reclear.
      You should clearcoat before adding this just in case something goes wrong when applying, if can be corrected fairly easy.

    Is that gold metallic base the reason why that gold pearl is popping from under that tangerine? I’m mixing tangerine with root beer but This is how I want mine to come out with that gold pearl. But everyone is saying I should use silver coarse metallic as my base🤷🏾‍♂️. What’s your thoughts?

    Awesome job as usual. I would like info on ghosting the harley emblem. Thanks

    • @TAZattitude
      @TAZattitude  2 года назад +3

      Basically you can do this with anything including lettering. Have some stencils made, use a silver metallic with some base clear. Over-reduce. Spray on to desired strength. Spray a very light coat of base clear to protect. Practice this before attempting. You can use a spray-out car and spray it black. You don't have to use stencils to practice. Just mask off some little areas.

  • @beartracksful
    @beartracksful 3 года назад

    Hey brother do you put the base down then clear over that then do the air brush work. So if you don't like the air brush work it saves the base paint so you never have to do it all over again thanks brother I'm just learning to do it right

    • @TAZattitude
      @TAZattitude  3 года назад +1

      Yes, you are exactly right. Base, clear, resand, THEN do your graphics or flames. Especially with a metallic.
      You can get away with it with a black base. If you make a mistake or have 'blow-through' you can spot in the black.
      But you have to do a knock-down tape job to eliminate spotting in the areas with black.
      If you clear the base, and have an issue, you can simply wipe it off with lacquer thinner or sand it off.
      TOO risky if you do a metallic base. So clearcoat and resand before graphics or flames. 👍
      Hope this all helps you

    Hey question for you sir. I painted my panhead chopper tangerine orange anf it turned out pretty sweet for a self taught 2 yr rookie i think. I have a problem a month after painting it. Gas fumes got under my paint. Bike sat in the sun at work for 6 hrs. I got off work and my coffin tank top three sections where like a hot air balloon!! Is there a way to salvage paint once it lifts or do i gotta accept i gotta sand down and do it all over again?

    • @TAZattitude
      @TAZattitude  3 месяца назад

      I assume that since the fuel got 'under' the paint, all the bubbles are on the edge of the paint at the fuel bung area? Or are they in other areas?

  • @billghostrider7939
    @billghostrider7939 2 года назад

    How do you get your clear to look so nice. I have watched a few of your videos and clear always looks good before sanding. I thought I had good gun control. Base color looked good. Kandy looked good. Clear was everywhere, dry and dusty to runs. Wet sanded shot clear again. No runs but very rough grainy texture. Im moving gun pretty quick because I'm afraid of runs.

    • @TAZattitude
      @TAZattitude  2 года назад +3

      Possibly it could be your gun controls. I normally just have both the fan and the fluid wide open. I control the amount coming out of the gun by the trigger.
      Also, maybe try a thinner clear to start with. Shop Line JC630 normally sprays nice and flat since it's so thin, it's hard to get orange peel versus a high solids clear.
      Once you get good with the thinner clears, you can move onto the high solids type clearcoats. Hope this helps

      Good for another $100-$200 upcharge to do this.

    • @TAZattitude
      @TAZattitude  2 года назад +1

      HI, On the aftermarket tanks and the older Harley tanks (pre-96?), I used to use POR-15. Once I ran out of that, yes, I did just start using clear coat. The main key is to be sure to tape up about 1/8"-03/16" from the inside edge of the bung. Use this edge to cover with the clear. When brushing the edge, go over the edge onto the painted.
      Sometimes I'll mix a tad bit of basecoat with the clearcoat.
