Yours are some of the better videos out there. It’s just fact after fact, tip after tip and advice on how to do things correctly to achieve nice and clean results. No ego or attitude or “I’m better than you” sentiment in anything. True professional, beautiful work!
I appreciate that. Yea at 60, I'm not going to be doing this much longer. I've had a successful career and business. Why not share my knowledge that I've learned through the years with others
Great video, I learned a lot. Thanks for clearing up (for me) what Color Blender is, it’s a clear base; I now fully understand. 👍 I was really surprised how much thinner (reducer) you use, wow! I guess you have to spray very light coats so it doesn’t run. I loved your tips on masking, especially the quarter inch insurance tape, such a good technique. This is the best channel I’ve found in ages, thanks for making these videos. The paint job you did on these bike parts came out so nice, that clear went down so well. 😂 I’m kidding, it’s you that did the stellar work, not the paint. It’s not all down to the products used, it’s the guy doing the work that makes the job great. 👍 Very nice work indeed sir, at this stage I am following your lead and aspire to do work as good as you one day. Thanks from the 🌍UK 🇬🇧 to the USA 🇺🇸 🌎🤘😜🤘
Great to hear you like it. I do put the coats on 'fairly' like as the flake tends to hold it together better than base or clear. You still have to watch it though. Glad you're enjoying the channel. Appreciate it
Learned some things from this video. Thank you. You wet sanded and buffed the top clear coat but wouldn’t a person wanna wait a week or so to let that clear cure and harden. I wonder if the top clear coat is a little too soft if you wet sand and buff too soon......or maybe you know it doesn’t matter as far as the final result is concerned? Thanks again
Hi Dan, You 'could' wait a week if you wanted to. Or, just wetsand and buff the next day, the if there are issues you can just rebuff. Most of the time there is not if like on the metalflake jobs you let the flake coats sit for a bit so you don't 'sandwich' soft material under the catalyzed topcoat clear. Most of the time customers do not want to hear that the set is painted but we'll need to let them sit a week. Especially locals that stop by to see how their job is coming. They want them yesterday lol
@@TAZattitude Yeah customers want it now. This is the first video of yours Ive seen.....Good job. I know paint cause I paint busses for an OEM here in saint cloud, mn ...believe it or not we shoot a lot of Metallics....I always believe there is always more to learn. Thanks so much for responding!
When your color sanding your clear which orbit are you using on the DA sander. Seems larger orbit cuts faster but if trash gets on your paper squiggles are hell. Your videos are awesome very precise. Learning a lot from them. Your layout on flames are some of the best looking flames out there. Grateful for you sharing your taping skills since my pinstriping is not good and my freehand airbrushing isn't much better.
I'm using the shorter orbit. You can still use the longer orbit, but just have to be a little more careful on corners, edges, going through flat areas..... About every minute or so, I slap the pad with my hand and it cleans up the pad and paper. Glad you're enjoying the videos. I'm sure the 'outline first' on the flames video comes in handy for you
Knowing your mostly a motorcycle guy but mention auto painting as well I'm going to ask you. Looking to do a candy job on my 95 Mustang GT. Going with an aqua/teal candy preferably HOK but want a more green than teal. Using a multi size silver flake with a pearl in it in a midcoat before spraying the candy. My question is what would you recommend as a basecoat to get the achievable final candy color I'm looking for? I see in the description you know HOK and obviously know your flake/candy paint. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 👍🍻
This would be a very involved paint job even for a person with a lot of experience. This is basically a 4 stage paint so there is no midcoat. base, flake, candy, then clear. Sooooo to make it someone easier, I would suggest starting with a color close to what you want. Choose an automotive color. Then spray some MF02 over the base. Then make up some candy that will make it richer and deeper, plus it will turn the silver flakes into a teal flake. Mix some green and blue candy to your liking. This way you can control how green the overall color gets. Be sure and do lot's of test panels first I would not recommend using a flake bigger than the MF02
@@TAZattitude Thank you very much Sir. Do have some experience with all this from doing motorcycle parts on and off for about six years. Never done anything in depth full scale like this or anything full scale automotive wise. Hopefully my skills and your recommendations will translate well come spring when I plan on spraying my Mustang. Thanks again for the reply Sir. Look forward to more of your videos. 👍🍻
Im confused, you sanded the 1st clear, never polished. then continued with rest of job. Then shot final clear and polished that final coat of clear. Does sanding the inter coat clear help with overall shine or is to aid/allow graphics to adhere.
Would you be willing to teach me how to paint? I'd pay you whatever you want, maybe like a 2 day speed course? Just teach me the basics like how to mix, what pressure to spray different paints and clears. ...etc. I'm dead serious let me know if your interested. Thanks
Sure, are you local to the bay area? Do you have something that you'd like to prep and paint? Contact me directly through the website if you'd like Sorry for the delay. Just got back in town from a short vacation.

Thanks for making such detailed videos and for all the informative commentary. Great knowledge for those learning
Glad you're enjoying them! Thanks for the comment!
Learning a lot from this video and others you have made. I am in the process of practicing with flake. Oh and Tampa, home sweet home.
Appreciate that. Hope the flake tips and tricks help you out!
Across the bridge from you 👍
Very nice way to elevate a simple paint job.
Thanks 👍

I like the side stripes of the tank .
Appreciate that. I figured that'd make the flake stand out a little more from the sides of the tank
Great work...
Thank you Kevin
Nice video.Thanks
Thanks Dyna
Beautiful.
Appreciate that!
Are you guessing at the reducer amount or have you don’t this do much you know right where to pour. Great video. Thanks 👍
Definitely guessing as it depends really on the size of the flake, the amount of base clear you put in there...
Glad you like the video.

Beautiful ! Appreciate the instruction your tips are helpfull , the clear do you use house of kolor ? And witch one ?
I use HOK UC35 on 'some' jobs. Most of the time, I'll use ShopLine JC630 and the Medallion clear

What brand is that orange tape?
Im confused, you sanded the 1st clear, never polished. then continued with rest of job. Then shot final clear and polished that final coat of clear. Does sanding the inter coat clear help with overall shine or is to aid/allow graphics to adhere.
The first clearing was topcoat clear. The only time I used the interclear was when I mixed it with the flake
