  • In this video, 454ss makes suggestions and guesses as to what the hinted Search & Rescue update may look like! Super excited the developers gave us that hint, and can't want to see what it brings! These ideas are only presented to start a discussion and see what players would like to see - so let me know in the comments!

    I originally bought this game for the SAR aspect of it as a former combat medic so any additional complexity they offer in that regard would be most welcomed thank you for covering that!

      Agreed. I love seeing the game expand and grow into so many different things, but seeing some love for the SAR aspect is always appreciated.

    The number 1 thing this game needs is much wider variety of search and rescue missions, play carreer and you will realize the game will present two types of missions: locate and rescue survivors and tow boat. Usually these missions spawn up to 12 to 15km away, meaning the only reasonable choice for that distance is a vtol, unless you want to wait 20mins for your 10m/s boat to reach. More variety of missions requiring a large boat, missions closer to an unlocked island, multiple missions spawning at once so you can choose what activity you want to do.

    What Id really love for the DEVS to add is a sound deadening block. With how loud some components are it would nice to be able to tuck them into a equipment room that you can sound isolate. Maybe not completely but like 80% reduction.

    Life bouy idea: IF it could remember where its storage rack was then once the NPC is in it they self swim toward the rack, possibly even climbing up onto your ship.

    Being an EMT I would be quite interested in deeper medical gameplay. In addition to the tourniquet and splint ideas:
    >Bandages which help heal wounds and reduce the possibility of infection
    >Hemostatic Gauze which works similar to tourniquets but doesn't fully cut off circulation, and allows bleeding control at limb-torso junctions
    >Cervical collar which helps stabilize neck fractures
    >IV Fluids which can be used to replenish fluid volume but don't replace blood level (I think this was mentioned on the discord)
    >Whole Blood which has special storage requirements, is expensive, and will not refill in storage, but both replenishes blood level and can provide direct healing
    >Antibiotics which also help prevent disease
    >The handheld oxygen can now be applied to other people
    >A portable vital signs monitor (And the medical bed now also monitors vital signs)
    >A 1x3 basic medicine box filled with common emergency medications (albuterol/salbutamol, aspirin, glucagon, epi-pen, oral glucose, maybe a few others)
    >A 1x3 advanced medicine box which has supplies to provide advanced life support (norepinephrine, anesthesia medicines, controlled pain medicines, TXA, heparin, dextrose, sedatives, IV epinephrine, other cardiac medicines to name a couple of the many possibilities)
    >A 1x1 box of patient-specific medicines given to you by a hospital for transport
    >Several of the supplies could be rolled into a 1x3 medic bag
    For map and missions...
    >Larger trauma center type hospitals, one each on Sawyer and the Desert Islands
    >Land rescue missions, both search and rescue type and standard emergency response into the towns
    >Missions to transfer patients from a small hospital to a trauma center or hospital ship (these patients would almost definitely require advanced life support enroute)

    More random islands (some of them out in the middle of nowhere). Also, survivor huts on some islands. This means small cabins with heaters, medpacks & cold weather outfits in Stormworks (anything else could be added as well). More new "old" shipwrecks (created as stationary objects) not only underwater, but also on shores of islands or in shallow water where they are half-sunken. Yet another idea would be something like a ship graveyard (something like the Staten Island Ship Graveyard) which would be awesome.

    After playing a ton lately, I think new stuff for SAR is much needed, but the gameplay needs a little somthing as well.
    The game is much too easy to "game over". Either bug or operator error forces you to save scum or restart.
    More dynamic AI behavior would help the world feel like a world.
    The NJ rescue service for the player (currently broken I think) would be nice to have implemented.
    More plug and play items for those that dont understand logic.
    Two slots for equipment
    More things to buy. Supply shops to restock your gear instead of just respawning the blueprint.
    Finance and more depth to managing your business/operation.
    Better damage system or part wear that persists until you scrap or repair the vehicle. Also salvage missions with related tools would be cool.
    These are some main ticket items that would make this game more approachable and deep with more cohesion with existing assets. I dont expect too much, but a man can dream.

    side scan sonnar is pretty much like the 3d sonar you shown in one of your videos, the big difference is that it looks like a torpedo being towed instead of the lase canon self-moving. That way, you would need to keep a constant low speed and direction, also having the possibility to do zig-zag routes to cover a square area.
    btw, things like a stoping signal to the hospital ship or help assist from other ships would work great if there was a communication system between player and npc. Something like a frequency and some sort of a message that could be sent through. The only issue is that the AI is pretty much limited, so we would probably ending up into some new problems anyway. A local chat system could also work, like chat baloons so you would know when a tug approaches your capsized ship and say "Hey! Try to use my winch to recover your vessel!". Oh! And the flare pistol shot to the sky could be a universal help call for the player aswell.

    that immersion survival suit mechanics should be generally applied, because as far as i know at the moment you cant put anything on NPCs at all

      Yup! You can interact with the first aid things, but not "put on" them. I'd even be happy if the immersion suits/body bags are one time "use", and you can't take them off them after putting on (like the first aid)

    Swamps would be so awesome
    PS: I find the idea awesome of having kinda like a mangrove swamp with slightly deeper murky green water (range from 5 to 25 meters or so) were you'd have to rely on your RADAR or LIDAR (sensors) and stuff and couldn't use cameras underwater and have underwater trees and obstacles all around you that would be so awesome even if it's a DLC I would buy it immediately.
    PS PS: and underwater caves With air pockets.

    I wonder if a city of some form so that you can diversify into inner city SAR alongside your more standard sar. Youd need to build more standard fire/medical equipment, high reach ladder units, high rise fires. loads of options!

    Navy guy here: it's not realistic if a ship would stop for a helo to land. You need wind from the right direction and the platform needs to move so it won't pitch and rolls too much for the landing, which it would do when stationary. But it makes it easier in game if it would stop, yes. But to make it more realistic, there should be a way to connect to the ship, like a hook/harpoon in a mash frame, of just a magnet like we already have in game.
    I'd love to see underwater rescue missions, like a sunken sub. There are loads of underwater creations which are basically useless for missions.

    Idea for the hospital ship, maybe like a certain channel on the radio system, so like 6 or 7 where it stops for you, also with the AI saving you, I saw a creation off someone where you could call it in, I think it was the NG Rescue service or something, doesn't work now but what you used to do was in the chat do "?rescue_h" to spawn a helicopter which drops a winch and "?rescue_b" for a boat

    An idea for scuba or diving equipment might be having a spare respirator so if your diving with someone and they run out of air they can use the spare respirator (I suppose air would drain 2x faster). I don’t really see this scenario happening though.

    I'd be happy if you could just give AI survivors orders like "all sit", "all stand", "all follow", "all stop"

    If you get rescued by an ai ship, there should be a keypad for you to type in the coordinates of where you want to go. This would cost you a decent amount of money so people can't abuse the easy transport.

    I also work on RADAR. Perhaps something more advance. But in my system you can turn on a terrain inhibit, so if you are working on something on the water you do not get a ton of clutter from the shoreline.

    Medical gear idea: Medication, possibly more than one type. One could be for allergy though there could be things like delivering meds. Wouldnt need them to be on the medical bed. The would take on going damage separate from bleeding if any.

    I want to see it like that: radar outputs a grid of for ex 32 by 32 pixels, and they are all showing the distance to radar contact, and you can focus and change fov dynamically. This way you actually have to do something to lock a target and at the same time you can use it to scan weather (really wish realistic and dynamic clouds were in the game) or ground

    Side-scan sonar is for scanning the sea bottom not finding people on the surface.
    But i would love to have it in game. like locate this sunken ship mission or locate and retrieve the sunken container mission

      Correct, it would scan of people/vehicles submerged in a line shape vs. in a circular shape! But it would be fun! Yup, those mission types would be great!

      @@454ss_gaming something like ksp with science experiments and surface nodes that could be scanned. it would also add science lab parts.

      ​@@454ss_gaming I'm thinking something similar to ksp where you have different experiments and you can take sample data. this would also include science labs to observe and use the samples. if adding science that could also add room for more planets such as mars and maybe some asteroids that you would have to establish communication satellites and having to drill for ice to make oxygen and water to survive .I also think more survival equipment would be great, food water having to desalinate water and cook food. this would also add function decoration blocks. maybe deployable block like camp stove tops and tents so you could go out and camp somewhere fish for food and then leave. the food could also create a new industry and potentially dlc where you farm and plant, create tractors. along with food processing and factories that you could sell for money in survival mode.

    Month old vid, but would love to see a slider setup for so,e disasters… for example the Tidal Wave is too frequently happening and would be a variable scale thing as well as a time. One game I started tidal wave occurred Avery 5-15 minutes or close to that.

    Hi i vary much agree with you one thing i ask for stormworks to update AI Ships so i can't tell you how many times i went to rescue and i would be shot down or sunk because of AI ships battle ship if they could adjust them to where they don't fire unless fired apon now that be great. My dad was a signal men on a ship now he had a double lung transplant 11 years now so yeah it would be neat if they could do it in stormworks.

    I'm opposed to any new radar/sonar block that requires lua to implement in-game until they revamp the system to where you just connect it directly to a video screen for basic functionality. Needing lua to even use the blocks forces people to get workshop creations and I'm a firm believer every part in the game needs to be accessible by itself, then advanced features would come from lua/ workshop. Logic is complicated enough for a lot of people.

However, I would recommend for the tourniquets that they be applicable anywhere, because if you're applying a tourniquet you only have a couple minutes to live, and you might not have time to get them to a medical bed. Other than that, the medical suggestion is quite good.

      Comment deleted for some reason. That's a fair point. I also like your medical suggestion, however I have one comment. If you have to use a tourniquet, you only have minutes to act, so I think it would be better to be able to use the tourniquet like a first aid kit, rather having to take characters to a medical bed to use it.​

    Its really clickbaity to have the title as "Upcoming Search & Rescue Update" when what you actually mean in "proposed ideas for an update" or "there is no update, this is just from my imagination". I don't think clickbait videos are going to win you any subscribers any time soon.

      Hi there! There IS an upcoming SAR update, and I am giving my guesses! I have made many videos like this in the past, and there are a good amount of people that enjoy them :) If you would watch the first 30 seconds I explain

      @@454ss_gaming I watched the first 5 minutes. But I think you're missing the point. The content of the video is good and there's a lot of fun to be had in speculating. What isn't fun is to click on a video thinking it will be a reveal of the update (because that's how you've titled it) and to then find its actually speculative and ideas. When the title is deliberately misleading in order to get people to click on it, it becomes Clickbait.

      @@brewerfr9515 I avoid clickbait titles and images, that is not my style, but also I am practical and understand marketing. You assumed I would have details about the update, whereas I just stated we will get getting a SAR update, which is factual. I suppose I can call it "My guesses for the upcoming SAR Update" sure, but I didn't call it "Full details on the upcoming update". Anyway, thank you for your comment, I will consider that in future videos - this one has been live for a while not and this is the first complaint :(
