I was at a thrift store where someone had donated a bunch of jazz CDs. This one was on the shelf. I took it home. I started reading the insert while listening to it and there on the inside page...Dizzie's autograph!
Are you serious? That's amazing!
:o
Bruh I would’ve kept that shit🤣
Cool bro ❤❤❤ 0:50 0:52 0:52
And here we see the majestic Dizzy Gillespie, storing jazz in his cheeks for the coming winter.
05:45 Claudio Roditi's solo is in my lifetime top10 of improvised solos.
Drummer carried him
Came for the trumpets, but dang... That bass solo really caught me!
the part you’re looking for is 18:30 :)
This is the first version of this song I ever heard. When Sandoval came out and then I heard what sounded like "Flight of the Bumblebee" @ 7:29 , I instantly became a fan. 🤣🤣 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Holy smokes. I was trying to tell someone how amazing the studio version of this song was on the "Night in Tunisia" album, with the string arrangements on top. But this 20-minute live extravaganza is just so wonderful. Music is really a force to be reckoned with, in the right hands. Aside from the obvious trumpet power, the whole segment of bass and piano was top notch. Wow. Not to be silly, but jazz can really rock. ;-)
Holy crap I couldn’t agree more, this is an amazing display of prowess and musical synchronicity.
It’s the international language!
Легендарная запись! Всем привет из Беларуси!!!!
This really changed my life Arturo was off the charts on this set, James Moody also and rest of the trumpets Truly Amazing!!!
ARTURO HAS SUCH AMAZING RANGE
Had* remember that he uses not more those mouthpieces.
Cláudio roditi best solo
Nn
Agreed 100%
OMG... I was there (0:45sec, somewhere up on the left)! Every note burned into my head. Arturo blew everybody away and I always wondered why they didn't make a double album out of it - so much great music. Well, they did, later on! I remember when they did Dizzy did Oo-pop-a-da with Moody, the long tambourine solo by Airto and also the number with the big shells. Thanks so much for uploading this - got to get the DVD somehow!!! This is as good as it gets!
Damn... I can't work out whether to keep watching or go practice...
remember workin' for a CD company in France which distributed the CD at the Time...circa 1990...remember opening all the boxes, count them (around 10000 copies and was so please that the factory made a wrong count and serves us 25 copies more than previous...one is still mine) Performances for ages...thanks
Jazz is like fine wine, it only gets better every year.
Yes, jazz is forever!
That fckn bass solo

It’s an amazing solo bro… I heard it 15 years ago and today I got it different, it was a blast
Dizzy was the peak.

R.i.p. Claudio Roditi
The dude at 6:15 killed it, so much style in his playing (no disrespect by calling him dude, just don’t know who he is)
Flavio Rotitti, he was a world top level trumpet from Brasil
@@moisesmangones2507Claudio Roditi

Yo solía tocar la trompeta cuando tenía 13 años y escuchar este concierto era para mí algo maravilloso y lo sigue siendo
absolutly superb. this would have been a killer concert to go to!

My favorite rendition of night in Tunisia
I spent a weekend in Northern Indiana at my college with Dizzy. Total gentleman! Great stories....really really good smoke..
Amazing!!
This is fantastic! They REALLY changed things up on this performance.
Absolutely loved the comedy involved in the performance! Must have been a close crew.
Esse cara tornou-se um "eterno Gênio Musical"! Mto bom mesmo
The comp under dizzy's solo is great
Is that a Bach Brandenburg Concerto reference at 17 minutes? Glorious.
Scratch that, 5 people did not go into the realm of the meta-physical!
Lo mejor del jazz
Great Dizzy 💛👏
Grat Claudio Roditi !!!! Miss you !!!
Nadie puede morir sin antes haber escuchado esta maravilla musical.
This is PURE GENIUS. THANK YOU so Very MUCH for posting!!! @drumcorpfanatic3 During the early days of Dizzy's career, one night he was at a gig and someone accidently sat on his horn, causing it to be bent. Dizzy played it anyway, and the sound stuck with him. Sometime later he he commisioned a horn to be made for him with a bent bell. The rest, is history, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mr. DIZZY GILLESPIE!!!
DAMN! Arturo Sandoval is the man.

Arturo Sandoval is the man! I wish I was there enjoying it live. Thanks for posting.
Roditti plays an incredible solo on this. Although I dislike Sandoval's solo, I get it that he tries to play something different from Roditti to add variety to the perfomance.
arturo began his solo and I just started laughing😂😂😂😂
Whoah
Ron jeremy en la trompeta
MÁXIMOOO!!!
JOHN LEE...
emocionante final
Puros generales del jazz latino y a hora es que faltan
Just know about this from video when the student becomes to master
No probs! My old man is a trumpet player. The cornet is very similar in size but there are a few small differences to the piccolo trumpet. :)
Arturo buys his fruit-of-the-loom's direct from the factory.
Don't blow an O-ring, uncle.
❤
Arturo is the new Boss...

SANDOVAL’S ENTRANCE TFFFFF
Arturo in his prime. Quite beasty
ААААА Блин КРуто!!!!!!!!!
What Sandoval does to the trumpet at the 7 minute mark is unfathomable.
I can't believe you would say that; it was a medical condition that developed due to him teaching himself trumpet and it affecting his facial muscles. He is certainly my favourite jazz trumpeter.
In regards to embouchure, the only reason trumpet teachers teach to not puff out the cheeks is because fore most people it results in range and endurance problems. that is for most people, not all people. Dizzy is an example of an exception to that theory.
7:00 you're welcome
In a saner World, my fellow Cats.
Does Anyone Have the Songs and the Times for This Concert???... i'v Been Looking for the How Concert. How Cool...
dat guitar
Drummer @7:31 - how I feel : )
the bell being up like that projects the sound differently cuz he plays with his head tilted down the bell is up so his sound wont be going to the ground
except he is miked
Original story has it that his horn was on s stand and got knocked over and bent the bell. He liked it so much that he had that done to all his horns. Also note that Slide Hampton plays trombone left handed. That was the way someone handed it to him when he was a young boy and that's the way he learned.
16:15 o cara lançou um samba ali kkkkk
🇧🇷 Brasil ziu ziu! 🇧🇷
Arturo Era O Melhor
