Nate Gillette You wouldnt be one of those here in South Florida people call "los esclavos felices" ( "happy slaves" in English) of all races, at the services of their communist masters from La Habana, Cuba trying to tarnish, with lies ( by saying that you had a teacher ...who said...) the image of a good family man with great talent, like Arturo Sandoval , just because he told the whole workd the real truth about the cruel, corrupt and murderous socialist dictator Fidel Castro , in the movie about his life as portrayed by Andy Garcia , would you Nate...? . By the way, is it Nate as is Natalie or Nativity? I pretty much know already....
I cry listening to this song because it means so much to me. This song is the reason I picked up a trumpet in 6th grade. This song was in my head when I was lying on the ground in Iraq facing death. This song saved me in a sense, that's why I'm still here. SRA MICHAEL FLETCHER. USAF

My high school Jazz band had thr privilege to meet sit with him and perform a couple of songs for him to give us feedback, went thr bell rang in thr school he just picked up his trumpet and pkayed thr exact note immediately and did a little run to the next octive, and when we were playing our song he started pkaying alinf note for note, he's an amazing takent and person
I'm a trumpet player and I'm in tenth grade and my music teacher gave us this song to play in jazz band and I love it so much and he showed us this and I had to watch it again... Such a great inspiration, wish I could learn how to solo lol
This Man is an inspiration to me as an immigrant from Mexico. We Latinos are the backbone and the living heart beat of this country. Viva la Raza and God bless the United States
I thank God for allowing me to live in a time when I could hear and meet Dizzy Gillespie, Arturo Sandoval, Phil Smith, Tim Clarke, Jim Bohm, John Maguda, Mark Filesinger, Hansel Hererra DeChapelles, and some other of the worlds greatest trumpeter's.
I just love how Sandoval used the same intro for his solo from 20 years ago. If you watch a video of him playing with Dizzy, he uses the same intro for that solo
AmericanPatriot76 It's a triple G, so lower than a triple C, but above a double. However, the real kicker is that he often plays this as the finisher for a 90 minute concert. Also, to play it in tune and have it even be recognized is astounding
Arturo, I'm ashamed to admit that I have been a fan of trumpet for more than 30 years, but did not even know you existed until this past year! I have been watching several videos of you on youtube, and am truly amazed! My father played trumpet (he died while playing a gig, so it was a good way to go for him) and I am now learning at the age of 62. I played saxophone decades ago and conclude that trumpet HAS to be the most difficult instrument to learn! Thank you for being a great inspiration to many!
as a student trumpet player. (;( ) I think brass is decently hard sense all it is is a metal hole, but then trumpet gets this tiny hole they have to shoot a fast small stream of air down. so personally it feels pretty hard
Words are hard to explain how phenomenal Arturo plays the great trumpet. So many beautiful notes in that expressive Arturo way of making all his fans happy and fortunate to have him playing so great all the time. you know guys like Doc Severson Clark Terry Miles Wynton Charlie Shavers Chet Baker all the legends salute Arturo for his beautiful heavenly tone. We love him dearly and to hear him play trumpet is like God sending down angels so if you ever want to get closer to heaven listen to the God Given Talent of Arturo. thank you and god bless you Arturo BOOM
His solos are just so amazing. They aren't based around just stuff in the upper register which he could do. It's just shows why scales are just as important as range
That is just mental ! At the end, where he goes from the lowest note possible, up to something octaves above what us lesser mortals could dream of ..... unbelievable !
Arturo Sandoval My respects to you, for all your performance which represent the Latin Jazz music from our Cuban roots, to our world. Thanks for being with us, God Bless you Always Arturo.
As a jazz musician the last time I was in my favorite local venue the band performing was the Kaiko Matsui band at the end of the night the gracious owner sat in for couple of songs & had every right to blow the roof off Arturo!
Got to cut an album with Arturo this past week. The power behind his sound is absolutely ridiculous. Talk about instantaneous dynamic change, and a mastery of both technical insanity and gorgeous tone. Great guy to boot, super fun to work with. High standards, yes, but really laid back and relaxed too.
The Great cuban Arturo Sandoval.in this performance he was 62 years old.amazing that he can still have that technique.sound, control and power for high notes.one of the all time great!
That was beautiful. Air force bands do not disappoint. When I was young, the bands from McCord would come to our grade school. They were incredible. This brought back some great memories. Thanks
When he hit that extremely high 'A'. That made me cry. The countless hours of hard work Mr Sandoval has put in. The emotion and energy hit me right in the heart. You have shown me the power of music. Thank you @ArturoSandovalTrumpet

A class act and humble man. One of the best ever.

G above double C. Absolutely ridiculous

Gotta love the military, man.
"Son, you're gonna play your solo AFTER Arturo Sandoval's solo"
"Yes sir!"
*crushes it*

I thought the same thing. Pretty rough act for any trumpet player to follow.
Man casually blasts through six octaves on a trumpet while backed by the air force.
Crazy right?!
It was 9 even harder lol! 😂🎉
When I was in high school 40 years ago this was one of our favorite jazz band songs

Met him before after a concert. such a humble and talented man. I wonder if future generations will learn to appreciate such beauty.
from what my middle and high school band has shown me at least my generation has especially honored and looked up to Arturo and many other artists
+Panda Waffles Agreed. Hopefully you can see him live like I did a couple months ago in Long Beach . It was an amazing experience.
Very thankful I also met him, extraordinary talent and also humble, delightful person.
I had a teacher who had played with him and said he was always stoned and acting like a jackass, but still an extremely talented player.

He covers 6 1/2 octaves in about 20 seconds at the end. Ridiculous.
+sivad parks 4.5 octaves.
+juanito506 6 and a half if you count the thing that he does before the repeated phrases
u rite
It's actually 5 octaves and a half (5 octaves and 7 half-tones precisely)
benemles ok, thanks. My ear isn't too great. I tried matching it with my piano to count but I may have been just wrong.
Wtf I didn't even think those notes were possible that was amazing
TE AMAMOS SIEMPRE ORGULLO DE NUESTRA TIERRA!!
mrmathman202 Translation: “We love you always, proud of our ground”
That conductor just vibing is the greatest thing ever.
I like how every time he plays another octave at 4:40 the camera cuts to a new angle
and higher he go, closer is the angle there is some genuis is the realisation too
My embouchure muscles hurt just watching this
Arturo Sandoval, All the love you project returns to you!
Arturo is the man 👍😎🎺 that military trumpeter was also great.
We agree!
saw him live in Miami at his club with my father years ago. I am always surprised at how much Jazz knowledge my father has. No one still really knows about his club in Miami.
My Dad, a lifelong trumpet player, passed away recently. This reminded me of him. Wonderful,
As a 29 yr old black man from Detroit who grew up off hip hop. I can truly say I love jazz it's my favorite genre as I grew up in age
Who is the homie casually swaying in the background ?
I love that he applauds the other soloist. ¡El mejor, Arturo!
Wow wow that ultra controlled solo played from 4:00 on top of an amazing performance ! Bravo!
Super cool right?!

You can learn how to improv it's simple once you understand the scales and cords it's a lot of fun even if you don't get it perfect at first
At its core, if you just ignore e chord progressions and just play what sounds right, you’ll do fine. That’s what I did when first starting
Two comments and they're both wrong lol
@@marciamakesmusic there is no right way to improvise
Did you guys play the 4 octaves? 🤔

That intro solo is the famous "alto break" from Charlie Parkers' Night in Tunisia.

Didn't even know that last octave could be reached on the trumpet. Incredible.
SALT1NE It's incredibly hard, it's just as hard as it is to hit a double or triple C
AmericanPatriot76 It's a triple G, so lower than a triple C, but above a double. However, the real kicker is that he often plays this as the finisher for a 90 minute concert. Also, to play it in tune and have it even be recognized is astounding
I think he is the only one that can do that
Miguel Aravena nah, lots of people can play that high. He's one of the only ones who are crazy enough to use those notes in an actual piece of music
Arturo, I'm ashamed to admit that I have been a fan of trumpet for more than 30 years, but did not even know you existed until this past year! USAF Vet and proud that I served. Let's hear it Air Force !
The MSgt at 2:20, now that's playing that would've gotten Glenn Miller over the English Channel the night he died.
Arturo Sandoval. Redefining the range of the trumpet. (Those low notes. What on Earth...!).
Man, I would be nervous if I played in front of Arturo.
Rollin Shultz Yeah I would go up to my highest note (a double G) and he'd be like "Psh, that's nothing"
Rollin Shultz He did a clinic with my jazz band and he played fourth with me. I was playing less than a foot away from Arturo Sandoval
I was nervous every time. He was/is humble and gracious.
That is just mental ! At the end, where he goes from the lowest note possible, up to something octaves above what us lesser mortals could dream of ..... unbelievable !
That trill at 4:35 almost sounded like it was in the Tuba range, holy crap
He does amazing things with pedal tones
How is that embouchure even possible and still sound amazing??
It is in the tuba range, how he got that good is cause he's had like 60-70 years of trumpet practice in his life span.
