For me the FJR1300 was my best ever cruiser. Travelled all over Europe, wonderful bike. Zero problems. The K1600 is simply soooooo big and heavy I think, fine for USA freeways but too much for our roads and car parks. The Wing too. Great vids thanks!
I had to live at 29 Palms (29 Stumps) back in the day, and Palm Desert / Palm Springs used to be my hang-out! Familiar with roads I watched on your video! If you were a former Marine…29 Stumps was a treat for the grunts to train in the heat! I don't miss it 3/7, 0311.
Fellow Texan here ( just West of DFW) and I have had a used 2018 K1600B Bagger for a little over 2 months now and really love it ! I have a bad back and bad arthritis and this bike makes it easy for me to burn 200-300 miles a day no problem. I can set it on "cruise" in the suspension settings and it just floats like an old Cadillac ! My buddy went from a 2019 CVO Street Glide to a 2022 Matte black Goldwing then after riding my bike bought a 2022 K1600GA Grand America. The only thing he liked about the Goldwing better was the stereo sound quality and the "notchiness" of the BMW's transmission if you try to shift using the quick shifter under 3000rpm shifts. I got him to just use the clutch at low RPM shifts when you want to just cruise and short shift this torque monster. Look forward to more vids !
Enjoyed the video. Really looking forward to your thoughts on comparing the two bikes. I was in the market for a Goldwing last year but ended up on a K1600 GTL primarily for one reason...price. I seldom buy new motorcycles but look for very lightly used ones of which there are usually plenty out there. I picked up a one owner K1600 GTL with 6000 miles for $9500. It had just been serviced and had new tires. It had a lot of aftermarket accessories and complete service history. A similar used Goldwing would have been close to twice that. So far I've put about 11,000 trouble free miles on it. I'm not sure why the used market is so soft on the K1600 but I think they're a bargain for anyone in the market for a touring bike. I know BMW service is expensive but I do most of my own maintenance. Keep the videos coming, very enjoyable!
I have heard the k1600 services can be tricky. I now the dealer charges a ridiculous amount of money. I had no idea the market was soft on the used k1600.
Thanks for the great video. I am a former owner of a 2010 Goldwing. It was a great motorcycle, but with all the advancements being made in the industry at that time, Honda was behind the curve. In 2013 I bought the BMW K1600 GTL. I owned the GTL for nine years with minimal service costs. The storage was superior to the wing and could be fully utilized. The GPS was better than the wings especially when programming for a trip. With Bluetooth, XM radio, abs standard, traction control, electric windscreen, etc. The $23.999 price tag in 2013 was awesome compared to my abs wing of nearly $29,000 in 2010. It would take Honda years to catch up while they only came out with new paint schemes instead of what customers were asking for. When the new wing finally came out, it had less storage, making it necessary to have to lock your helmet from the handlebars. It lacked the robustness of previous models. Many current and former wing riders consider the new wing a shadow of its former self. For me, it was far too little, and far too late!
Thank you for putting up with that heat for this report. I drove from So. California I-10 last Labor Day to visit my daughter in Brooklyn and well sympathize with you about the heat. I didn't really begin to enjoy the ride till I got to about St. Louis because of the heat. My 2012 K1600GS was flawless. That box in the back will hold two full size helmets I never saw you move the wing deflectors for more air.. They don't always help that much, but many times I am glad they are on the bike. If you don't know about the wing deflectors you are missing out. I usually got between 42 - 45m.p.g. Twice in Colorado I got 50+ m.p.g. while on slower secondary roads with construction so I had to go slower. In Manhatten and Brooklyn my bike was like a tank compared to the much smaller bikes they were using in that congested area. As big as that bike is I have frequently 'white lined' or split lanes in heavy So. Cal traffic. I don't go fast splitting lanes generally and each driver gets a wave of thanks for me for sharing the lane. Safe travels to you.
After a failed purchase of a denim blue 2022 Gold Wing Bagger (cancelled order by importer), I picked up a manhattan metallic 2022 K 1600 B and don't regret the lack of DCT.
The only advantage BMW has is more power and a tiny bit better handling. Goldwing has the upper hand in so many ways. Including… Reliability, 87 octane gas, no specialty tools or software, cheaper labor rates and not over engineered with plastic parts designed to fail. Heck if I had lots of expendable income I would probably add a BMW to my collection 😁
I'm a beemer guy who rides (and loves) a '19 R1250RT. I've often bounced between checking out a new 'Wing and the K1600 GTL as a next motorcycle, since I tend to lay down the highway miles. I REALLY liked test riding the GTL (BMW is very generous with their test rides, Honda, not so much). So I'm eager to hear from you as to your impressions from a die-hard Wing-rider of the GTL.
I was on the same position, purchased the BMW K1600GTL 2022, nice bike, but the seat is REALLY bad, so consider spending 900 Dollars for a replacement and make sure the K1600GTL does not have a engine know sound...many 2022 out there have this issue. I also did not get the Wing because I couldn't get one to test ride...
Sir, I love your videos! I am a BMW guy with three, and an over the road truck driver. I am enjoying the view from a screen instead from the windshield.
It took me a year to decide if I was buying a GL or a K1600. After analyzing and reviews the 2 bikes are Road kings but everybody in the end makes the GL a winner but, never buy much. To me, the K1600 as a much more sportier look than of the GL but Honda will never fail you and live for ever.
"Behemoth of a bike!" Respectfully a 2021 Goldwing is +- 800lbs, 2021 Gtl is 789 wet. You want a Behemoth, try a Harley Ultra classic! 877lbs dry! 🥴 Cheers!
Here's a tip when riding in heat, instead of draining the cold water from your cooler pour it down the back & front of your jacket. Hopefully you were wearing a "cool vest".
The transformation begins. Great looking bike, I look forward to the series. A few months ago I replaced my 19 Tour DCT with a 1250 GSA as my second bike, and I am NOT unhappy about it 👍
Great to hear Hog. A very different animal. I am considering a 22 GSA. Going to test ride one this weekend. It definitely fits the Swiss Army knife description. Does many things very well and it’s got unique looks sitting amongst all the other touring rigs. I like to be different. Ride safe and often.
@@roadglide LOL you are all over RUclips! I have a 22 GSA with factory low suspension - it is a great bike so far. Very different from my RGL, and I don't worry about it getting dirty or throwing my jacket and helmet on top of the bags (excuse me - PANNIERS lol). I now have 2 completely different bikes for different types of riding - I am a happy camper. Which BTW, I can do on the GSA with ease! Good luck with the test rides - while you are at it, ride a 1250RT too - they are sleek and sexy. And the 1250 engine is no slouch on either frame 👍
Had a 2018 K1600 Grand America. Performance, handling and features were great! I have a 2018 Goldwing Tour DCT now and miss the power and performance greatly! However, the short/expensive tire life, ridiculous maintenance costs and top heavy feel are happily left behind! The DCT Tour is a totally different bike. It's like comparing a Honda Accord and the BMW 5 series. They'll both get you there, but will give you very different driving experiences. And, very different ownership experiences. Additionally, 3-4 years down the road, the Wing will have retained a far greater % of it's value.
Thanks for this. I'm in the market for '18+ GW DCT but my dads neighbor has a 22 K1600 GTL and its made me consider it, but he does all his own maintenance and hates the dealership so much that even under warranty he does it all himself (valve check included). I think your comment is the best summarization I've seen
I recently did a 1000+ mile road trip on a rented GTL through California with my wife. We did not like it. Tall, top heavy, and hard to come at a stop. The one we had did not have reverse nor a rider backrest. Fully loaded and two up it’s just way too top heavy. My wife complained the whole time that we should have rented a goldwing. She was really up high and had bad head buffeting. Just my perspective. Glad you are doing this
I own a K1600 GT, and have been considering looking at the Goldwing DCT. This review will be very interesting for me to watch and hear you’re opinions between both bikes.
I ride a r 1250 GS and a K 1600 GTL. I ride about 18,000 a year between both bikes. Honestly I cannot tell you which is more comfortable. So I ride both. God is good!
WOW, just think of all the fun you could have making repair videos for the K16! I had put a deposit down on a '22 Wing last year and have been waiting. I was originally thinking of an Africa Twin but had owned Wings in the past so figured I'd go with that. With the lack of availability of the Wing (none have arrived here), I started looking around and thought I may like a BMW R1250GSA. In doing my research on the BMW, it appears to be technologically superior to the Wing in a lot of ways including lighting, suspension, braking and overall electronics with the Wing only having Carplay as an option that the BMW doesn't have. I just had a test ride of the GS and have to say it was very pleasurable. Nice enough that I had my Goldwing deposit refunded and put a deposit down on a GSA. I opted for the GSA as it has better wind management than the GS and I did notice a bit of wind action during my test ride. Although the GSA is a taller bike, they have a lowered GSA which I'll try. NOTE, they have one available - that's a step up on Honda. So my summary is that, for me, the GSA is technologically superior, is less expensive to purchase and is available. Oh and I've owned the predecessor to what you are riding back 20 years ago or so! :)
Congrats on the GSA! Love the character and unique look. A super do-it-all pretty good motorcycle. Sometimes called the Swiss Army knife of bikes. In any event. You didn’t mentioned if you test rode the new generation Wing. With DCT transmission and backlit handlebar switches for night riding, 4 ride modes with the “Sport” mode making the Wing an absolute Hooligan like you may never have experienced. The GSA does have great engine performance numbers, no question, and the panniers can be purchased in a variety of sizes in either hard or soft versions. So storage is excellent. Ride safe and often.
@@roadglide Nope, didn't get a chance to ride a new Wing with DCT. The one I had on order was an Airbag model so I was opting for the DCT figuring I'd like it. But, they are just not available where I am. In fact I had a deposit on a new Wing since last November but the local dealer couldn't give me any kind of idea when they may get any in. I figured I wanted to ride this year so went for the GSA.
What repairs are you speaking of, when you made that reference to the k1600 ? I would guess you are a close minded , one brand bike owner , or maybe not even a rider ?
@@jela8815 IF you were familiar with Cruiseman you'd know that he makes repair / how to videos for the Goldwing. Shows you how to do stuff. It'd be great if that were available for the K1600 and other bikes. He shows shortcuts, how not to break off plastic tabs, how to do simple things. Sure, a number of these are available but all from different sources. Again, if you were familiar with Cruisman's videos you'd know my comments have nothing to do with being close minded although it sounds like you are. I've ridden and owned pretty much all the major brands of motorcycles and I've taught beginner and advanced motorcycle courses. Can you say the same?
BMW K1600- bigger TFT screen, much more agile, top-heavy bike because of higher center of gravity, unstable in windy road, very powerful engine, higher top speed, can carry more fuel, sounds like an F1 car, better braking. Goldwing- nice tactile buttons, much more stable because of lower center of gravity, better wind protection, airbag for rider, fully automatic DCT gearbox, walking mode reverse/forward, more comfort for pillion, better build quality, more reliable.
FYI - you’ll never be able to take enough rest stops to hydrate yourself properly in that kind of weather. You need a constant flow using a hydration bladder to ensure hydration.
@@cruisemansgarage I’ve tried them all. I really don’t think you can beat the Kriega (I use a 3l). They’ve thought of everything so it’s the most durable, most comfortable, has the easiest to manage/clean/connect components and it’s built like it was designed for a 10 year use period at least. I had numerous packs and stopped using them all and standardized on Kriega after I got the first one. Worth checking out. Even the one I have that goes into my Rev’It Cayenne 2 jacket is 3.5l. For really long rides, I have a 3l hydration pack as a secondary, an in jacket system (if using the Cayenne 2 in summer, a Desert Fox 4l flexible cell for filling up, and a Mosko tank bag with 2l. Never need to stop for water. However, if I get stranded, I have a push filter.
LDComfort gear uses water to cool the body in temperatures over 95. I'm trying my first set, but have a long-time riding buddy who rides in hot desserts now and then and he swears by it.
As a previous owner of a 2016 GTL.Instead of straight boring rds.I would like to see how u liked the bike handling on good curve rds compared to the GW.
Ridden through there years ago. A cup holder is a MUST! Great video. Nice bike. Two things that I don't like, my Wing takes 87 octane! The BEEMER is high octane... The maintenance schedule on the Beemer is expensive. The Wing is average. Got a Harley too, which remains under a cover. lol.
Yep you are correct about multiple bike ownership, I own a 2015 Honda ST1300 (called a Pan European here in the UK)and a 2020 HD Street Glide Special 114ci and I love them both but for different reasons keep up the good work.
I have an r1200gs running 127000km and bought another suzuki vstrom1050xt a few months ago. The bmw is a better bike, but the 1050xt is quieter and less burdensome. I'm thinking about buying a Gold Wing in about 5 years. I like quiet engines.
Thank you for the video. I purchased my 2022 K1600GTL 2 weeks ago, and I am already without my bike at 385 miles on the clock as there is a very loud engine knock sound, that is affecting the safety of the ride as it vibrates the handlebar. After several call to the BMW dealer, finally they decided to take the bike away to check it...it has been a week now and I just heard today that they are opening the top of the engine to check on the valves as it seem that the horrible noise is from the valves being loose! NOT GOOD...kinda regretted not buying a 2022 Gold Wing which I was aiming for.
Great Video. I have a 2019 Honda GWT-DCT, and I am test-riding the BMW K1600 GTL later today. I have watched and found helpful your review of the GTL, thanks. BTW I live in PHX (retired state trooper, pilot, and motor officer) 108- 113 is what I ride in. We start our rides in 90-degree temperatures at 3-4am and ride to the high country, but at some point, we must come back down into the valley but usually in the extreme temperature for a little over an hour. Thanks again for your reviews and advice. Cheers.
I have the K1600 for on-road sports touring. I also have a BMW GS Adventure for touring mixed on-road and off-road, as well as a Ninja ZX14r for ripping the twisties. I adore the Goldwing. However, I choose the K1600 because the lean angle is much better with the BMW so it’s faster in the twisties, and also has more horsepower and feels a lot faster. I think the Goldwing is more comfortable overall, but I few; like I’m giving up very little when I arrive at the twisties compared to the Goldwing. Choosing between the two is a very nice problem to have.
I’ve got a deposit down on a 2022 DCT Tour GW but I’m getting very tired of waiting. There is very probably a shiny new GSA Rallye in my very near future. Sold my 2009 GS a couple of months back. No issues.
I'm really looking forward to the review of the BMW. Having owned two, a GS and a GSA one primary consideration for me was the cost of ownership of the BMW's. Living in rural southeastern Utah nothing is really very close, especially when it comes to a BMW dealer. 300 miles to the closest dealer, and any work you have done is quite pricey because of what it is. Honda on the other hand has a much larger dealer network, so even though the BMW, may be the ultimate riding machine, I can say that I am very happy with my 2019 DCT, and especially a Honda dealer that is only 20 miles away!
Thank you for the informative post. Looking forward to your in depth review of the GTL. My backstory involves many BMW machines that included a K1600gt. I'm also a iron butt mile eater. I no longer ride BMWs. I currently own a 2018 Honda Goldwing tour in 6 speed. Looking forward to your observations on the short ride.
Interested to get another reviewer and Goldwing owners opinion of the K1600, I own both a K1600GT & Goldwing GL1800. I’ll be doing a head to head review shortly on my channel. Would love to catch up when I’m Stateside early next year for a ride & chat. Cheers.
I currently ride a 2018 Grand America and I just want to keep on riding and not wanting to stop...such an awesome bike. I always love to hear the comparison from one cruiser to another. In this case a Honda GW vs. BMW GTL. Just subbed to your channel and looking forward to watching other vids. Great Show Cruiseman!
Great video, very informative. I'm thinking of buying a 1600, and this video helps me a lot. Just one thing, is it standard road procedure to hold the middle lane allowing traffic to undertake on US motorways?
I had the experience to own when it came out, 18 Grand America. Nothing but problems once I reached 12k on her. So …so much can go wrong, just crazy. I had enough. Dealer always far away cause not many around. Wait time for repair or warranty work is forever. My K1600 did not like too hot or too cold temps. Speed was limited and no wonder why, high speed and dirty air do not like each other between or behind large trucks. I did got tired of it and sold it. That is why I have the 20 GW Tour DCT. Compare to the K, you just can’t. I am at 10k on the Honda, never ever even one tiny issue….period, done! The ride is so insanely comfortable. I would rent the K and not own one.
This is great I own and love my 2018 GW tour , but also like the BMW you are reviewing it’s a beautiful machine just to look at , I also own a GSXR 1000 , your review will be very impactful on my next potential purchase , ride safe my friend 👍🏻
I have been looking at the K1600 B and the GW DCT. I love the look and weight of the Bimmer, plus the speed but the Maintenance cost isn’t for me. Hopefully next week I will be buying the GW but when I get more money, I still might get the K1600B
I've seen snakes in those bathrooms before. I'll be interested in how you feel about the handling of the K1600 in the crosswinds and vs. the Goldwing in the crosswinds. More heat is waiting for you in Texas!
From NZ, have two bikes - one a BMW R1200RT - the baby of the BMW Tourers, and after 33 years of no bikes I bought a Royal Enfield 650 INT - good starter bike again. Interested in comparing your views of the Honda Goldwing vs K1600 and The Missenden Flyer's views - same comparo. Ride safe, and stay hydrated!!
At 7:11 you were riding about 1 mile from our place in Coachella. In a closet at our place there were a cooling vest and a neck cooler that I would have lent you for the ride. Anything over 96°F it's important to avoid heat stroke and stay cool so I use a cooling vest and neck cooler. Did you have anything beside warm water for the heat?
Rest stop to cross off your list: I-8, winterhaven/Sand hills; filth, smells bad and drunks coming back from the dunes BTW, tested a 1600 GT when I owned my 2019 Wing. For me, I didn’t trust that motor or the electronics 😉 Road trip advice (never fails me): Go online, get a citi bank card through Costco, download a map of all their gas stations and plan accordingly. Upside is you get the lowest price for gas and cash back
Good video, very nice looking Beemer, so damn hot must have taken the edge off a good ride. I was looking for a hint of up side riding on the machine, but I can wait until you're done. I think the bottom line is, would you buy it or not, I mean money being no object with a BMW GTL and the GL1800 in the garage.
I explained that after I have had ample time in the seat, I will do a full review of the BMW and a comparison to the Goldwing. Not fair for me to do a comparison after only 200 miles.
Yawn! I just want my GA Bagger already. They are stuck in NY. Already got VIN at least so at least it exists. I got the galaxy paint 🤗🤗 Goldwing Oldwing.
One thing I have never understood is why honda goes so cheap on suspension. Even the new gen has virtually no suspension travel. I budget in a trip to Traxxion for a suspension upgrade on a goldwing. Perhaps some could comment on the quality of the bmw stock suspension.
I had Goldwing 1500gl I do all Dolomite pass include Stelvio. One day I was able to use BMW k1600 gtl My good was like you drive a truck compared to old Goldwing OK much power but out of that I like much more the Honda
I have planned a ride beginning in couple of weeks. Originally, I was going to ride my Wing, but began reconsidering my mode of transportation due to the length of my two week journey in that stifling heat. Watching this video cinched by decision. I am going to drive instead. Be careful out there.
Great video, but I would very much recommend a CamelBack (or other suitable hydration pack) when riding long distance. Clearly you have LD experience, but when you are hot and thirsty, it’s too late - you are dehydrated. Dehydration is dangerous, especially on a bike. If you drink as you go, you will be much more comfortable and safer.
I've owned a number of BMWs including among others the K1600GTL, R1200GSA, and the R1250RT (currently). I have a deposit paid on an incoming '22 GW Tour. I'd be very interested in your thoughts on handling at highway speeds, especially in windy conditions or around traffic. I traded my GTL early to go back to an RT, primarily because it never handled as well on the highway. My wife & I both loved the comfort of the GTL for riders and she misses it relative to the RT. I had the GTL checked several times and changed tires, but nothing would make it as stable at 60 mph+. Went back to an RT and it is as solid as a rock on the highway. I watched a video done in a UK winter with two riders on a K1600 and a Goldwing, and anytime the video was from the 1600 I saw that familiar buffeting in the wind vs. the stable Goldwind in the same conditions. VERY curious if you have a similar experience.
No. That is a direct competitor to the Harley Ultra. The BMW K1600 Grand America or GTL are the Goldwing competitors. And the K1600B of course for the bagger.
@@steve28849 I would say that is it primarily yes. Similar styling, similar riding position, similar handling and character. There is a nice multi-day head to head out there in the RUclips-verse with the GW and K-1600 in Scotland I think. Search up “Dirty Baggers Roadtrip”. Cruiseman should probably refrain from watching this one until he has his impressions squared away on the current trial.
One aspect that the test ride won’t show you, is BMWs are not reliable long term, in the UK they have acquired a reputation for poor long term build quality, I’ve owned many over the years and can only say the build quality of my Honda Goldwing DCT Tour is vastly superior to my BMWs. They are commonly sold as a short term PCP lease deal and it seems BMW worked out it only has to last the warranty period after that 🤷♂️

In the Netherlands in that period, we paid higher then that price

I am a BMW guy with three, and an over the road truck driver. I am enjoying the view from a screen instead from the windshield.
This is the Cruiseman that I like, out there putting down some heavy MI's (miles). I look forward to this adventure. Ride safe.
$7.00 a gallon is still cheaper, than what we're paying for gas here in Germany. We're approx. $8.00, plus depending.
I have the exact same bike, K1600GTL Option 719, white with light brown seat. Only difference, mine is a 2021 and I have a Remus exhaust. Love it.
Nice. Love the Remus exhaust.
I will be adding a Brentune sometime in the future.
"Behemoth of a bike!"
Respectfully a 2021 Goldwing is +- 800lbs, 2021 Gtl is 789 wet.
You want a Behemoth, try a Harley Ultra classic! 877lbs dry! 🥴 Cheers!
Because heavier is better lol 😆
Take two 1-liter bottles of frozen water with you when you take off in the morning. You’ll have ice water to drink the whole way.
When I rode the K1600B it was more like my Honda sport bike than my GW in cornering acceleration and handling.
Here's a tip when riding in heat, instead of draining the cold water from your cooler pour it down the back & front of your jacket. Hopefully you were wearing a "cool vest".
Good idea
Love from DeKalb Mississippi USA 🇺🇸
I'm thinking of going the other way. I own a GW and I'm considering a K1600 GTL.
I will be testing out a new Camalbak on my next highway ride.
Man that’s some hot 🥵 weather riding ! Your brave
Can't wait to see the end of this verdict for the k1600 in comparison to the Goldwing
Got a Harley too, which remains under a cover. lol.
I paid $6.99/gal for 91 octane in CA
Yep you are correct about multiple bike ownership, I own a 2015 Honda ST1300 (called a Pan European here in the UK)and a 2020 HD Street Glide Special 114ci and I love them both but for different reasons keep up the good work.
Currently paying approx £8.50 per Gallon which equates to 10$ per gallon. Uk Government take a nice heafty slice.
Lighter and more powerful than a wing
I have an r1200gs running 127000km and bought another suzuki vstrom1050xt a few months ago. The bmw is a better bike, but the 1050xt is quieter and less burdensome. I'm thinking about buying a Gold Wing in about 5 years. I like quiet engines.
I live in AZ and ride from Scottsdale to Payson on my R1200RT and it is brutal in the summer coming back from Payson as the temps reach 110F
A drink system is a must in that heat
I should have a hydration backpack.
Looks like Palm Springs. I did this rout in July about the same time of day on my R50/5
Hey, it looks like BMW took a color scheme from Indian, using a brown leather looking seat and backrest!
Interested to get another reviewer and Goldwing owners opinion of the K1600, I own both a K1600GT & Goldwing GL1800. I’ll be doing a head to head review shortly on my channel. Would love to catch up when I’m Stateside early next year for a ride & chat. Cheers.
Assume you're talking about dropping a deuce?? You've NEVER used a rest stop bathroom? Have you never done a road trip?
dude thinks he's too good for such "commoner/peasant" places
Never once used a public restroom until this video. I’m curious, having put 200k miles on Gold Wings, as to how that was accomplished?
Maybe I should have been more clear. I meant a restroom at a highway rest stop.
Buc ee’s has the cleanest restroom in the world
Great video, very informative.
Do you generally ride early mornings and just hole up somewhere cool when the temps get crazy hot down there in AZ/TX?
Where’s the final recap on the BMW ?
This is great I own and love my 2018 GW tour , but also like the BMW you are reviewing it’s a beautiful machine just to look at , I also own a GSXR 1000 , your review will be very impactful on my next potential purchase , ride safe my friend 👍🏻
I was hoping for some useful feedback and your impression of the K1600GTL… but there was practically none.
Great video! Trying other bikes is really cool for us. Love it man.
I found the heat today!
This is some good stuff here Chris. Looking forward to your video comparing the BMW and GW’s
I'm looking forward to seeing the new bmw k1600 Grand America.
108 degrees is hot. My wife and I rode last summer in southern Utah in 108 degree heat. Not fun.
I haven't watched yet but without hesitation I'd have to say awesome beginning to having even more followers to your channel sir
Petrol or gas in Ireland is €2.27 per LITRE (not gallon).
Great video! Good luck and ride safe!
Wow BMW! Not ergonomic for my 29” inseam. But there machines are pure ‘art’ of engineering marvels. Awaiting those video reviews.
Great job and I love the color awesome 😎
Rest stop to cross off your list: I-8, winterhaven/Sand hills; filth, smells bad and drunks coming back from the dunes
BTW, tested a 1600 GT when I owned my 2019 Wing. For me, I didn’t trust that motor or the electronics
😉
Road trip advice (never fails me): Go online, get a citi bank card through Costco, download a map of all their gas stations and plan accordingly.
Money and garage space.
I wish we had those gas price here in The netherlands. It’s really cheap. We pay $2,66 for a litre that is $10,66 For a gallon.
What about the heat coming from the motor? Was it annoying? Legs?
Pretty funny you called it a behemoth of a bike.😄
Sounds like your microphone is catching a LOT of wind especially compared to videos on your Goldwing. Comments?
Thank you for great video!
I wonder if the bike comes with owner’s manual or not?
You didn’t say much about the bike. You talked about the weather and hotels. I wanted to hear a report on the bmw and comparison to the Goldwing.
Great video sir. enjoyed it very much and looking forward to the rest of your trip and reviews 👍👍
You should try buying petrol (gas) in the uk, works out around 14 dollars per gallon 😬💩
Looking forward to review because I'm really interested in getting a BMW. I ride a 20l6 Indian Chieftain
Cruiseman, what gear were you wearing for the ride ? Did you stay cool or did the gear magnify the heat ?
I am going to go over all of the gear in my final moto vlog. Olympia jacket, Bohn Armor, Twisted Core shirt (compression/cooling), BILT gloves.
Looks like a nice area to ride in. Maybe not this time of year, but still a nice ride.
VERY curious if you have a similar experience.
i see a fair amount about the BMW 1600 but isn't the 1800 transcontinental the goldwing equivalent?
No. That is a direct competitor to the Harley Ultra. The BMW K1600 Grand America or GTL are the Goldwing competitors. And the K1600B of course for the bagger.
@@onsr03 is the reasoning that the 1600 and GW are "sport" touring?
@@steve28849 I would say that is it primarily yes. Similar styling, similar riding position, similar handling and character.
There is a nice multi-day head to head out there in the RUclips-verse with the GW and K-1600 in Scotland I think. Search up “Dirty Baggers Roadtrip”. Cruiseman should probably refrain from watching this one until he has his impressions squared away on the current trial.
What a bummer, I live in Buckeye, and would have joined you for a hundred miles or so :)
is there a certain model of lidlox you used for the K1600?
Yes. If you check their website, you can search by bike model,
@@cruisemansgarage which 1 specifically for the 22 K1600?
Does the bmw 1600gtl have the availability to be equipped with a trailer hitch?
I am sure someone out there makes one.
One aspect that the test ride won’t show you, is BMWs are not reliable long term, in the UK they have acquired a reputation for poor long term build quality, I’ve owned many over the years and can only say the build quality of my Honda Goldwing DCT Tour is vastly superior to my BMWs.
They are commonly sold as a short term PCP lease deal and it seems BMW worked out it only has to last the warranty period after that 🤷♂️
Nice camera!
No well known. How surprising.
My neck of the woods...how did you like not having dct?
