@@indianazones8579 That's a cool name! How cool is that! Careful that with flying they don't get too used to it and then may fly away when they see an opening! Zephyr. I have trouble taking him as I’m a student who is usually busy. I try to be around him as much as I can, do as much as I can, he always ate from my hand but still is scared of me and hisses at people in the evening. I have him for 1 month. He also sneezes a LOT, any help/tips/warning?
If your bird is scared of you, keep the food out of the cage and bring it in after 2 hours or so. Hold the food bowl in your hand and slowly take it by his mouth. If he is not eating from the bowl, increase the time you keep the bowl out of the cage. If he is eating out of the bowl while its still in your hands, slowly move your hand around in the air while he is eating. This way he will get to know youre not a threat. Slowly move the hand closer and closer until you are able to touch him. In a few days, you should be able to feed him out of your hand. This works. I did this with my own Parent raised 4 months old Cockatiel.
Yes I do love to show him off! There's definitely some helpful information in there and the comments section for those who need it :) thanks for commenting :)
Ive been trying to tame my tiel for nearly a year. she still hisses at me (usually when I change her food and water). if i let her out she won't let me near her and if i try getting close to her she starts flying around me room and screams. I was told she was under 1 year old when I bought her, but think she was a bit older.
Sarah Brodie sorry didn’t see this bit! Yer I get hissing when I’m changing food that’s just territory! Persistence and slow movements are key 🔑 it can be hard but will be rewarding once you learn how they work 😊
@@jordanalexander_311 unless I'm at work I spend all my free time with her. so I would've thought she would be used to me by now. I thought they were supposed to be intelligent. I have 3 birds (1 tiel and 2 budgies) and only one of them is somewhat tame. but ive found my untame budgie sets off my tiel
Sarah Brodie yer that could be it, she may be learning from their behaviour.... sounds like you are doing all the right things! They are stubborn animals and really are a bit arrogant - their way or nothing haha but I’m sure if maybe trying the tiel in a different room for her training? Hope it works out!
@@jordanalexander_311 i did think of using my bathroom but i know id have to grab her with a towel and to be honest I'm too scared to do that. I know when i was taming my first budgie I used a smaller cage so she couldn't get away from my hand. and if just sit it in the cage and after a week I could get her to step up. I tried that with my tiel, but it only worked for awhile.
Sarah Brodie I used to sit my little guy in a small cage next to me when I was watching tv or whatever and let him roam out if he wanted. I’d often leave sunflower seeds on my hands nearby to tempt him - could use a glove if you don’t want her biting you. Often flinching if your scared of being bitten can frighten them too. Is such a tough gig but worth it long run if it works! 😅
I have 2 tiels, a girl and a boy, I taught the guy bird how to sing, but they aren’t used to me grabbing them yet, this video was very useful! They started trusting me with grabbing them so thank you very much

This is really helpful. I'm going to start trying to get my cockatiel to be comfortable with my hands starting tomorrow hopefully. He was handraised from week 1 and is now 3 months old. He's absolutely terrified of my hands. Though he'll sit on my shoulder and let me walk around the room a little with him, which is weird. But I've been wanting to harness train him and just in general have a hand tame bird, so I need to help him feel comfortable with my hands. Thank you for sharing all these tips!
You A Clown no worries at all I appreciate you commenting and helping others out too! I find when they are on the shoulder than can be ‘territorial’ and not want to come back off again so doesn’t like the hand then.... but try using the word ‘up’ and the step up technique and be persistent! Hope it helps! 🙏😊
Hi, I may be a little late, but I have 2 female cockatiels and they are sisters. They are both around a year old and I got them in November 2019, but they still aren't very tame. Do you think I can still tame them like your little buddy or do you think I'm too late?
I have two female cockatiels, Dorian and Debbie, one of them is more comfortable with me coming near them and the other is more comfortable to new things. I hand feed them often and im trying to tame them. THx for the info man!
my cokatiel ive had since dec 1st. progress so far is good i think only problem is she really doesnt like my hand and i have been trying to teach her to step up but she really doesnt want to she has never drawn blood but does bite hard sometimes. ive been using millet to get her to step up but without millet you wont. any sugestions?
Hydreji absolutely! Keep trying it’s a long process. Try putting on a glove and gently forcing her to step up on it even though she may bite it won’t hurt you. Then when she does step up, offer her a treat and put her back on a perch (better to be one away from her normal cage). Keep repeating this 5-10 times a day every day for a week and then when she does it without biting you can try taking the glove off 😊
Hydreji yes you have to get her used to having your hand near her - stepping up onto your hand is the first step then holding and touching and scratching come later on when she trusts you more 😊
i’ve been building trust with my bird but she was born with her parents here. and she listens to me but also wants to be with her parents. i don’t know what do , i think i should give up. does anyone have tips? 🤷🏻♀️
Don't give up, I know it's hard but you have to remember it is possible! You sound like you've done well already. I would suggest maybe training her in a seperate room to the parents to get her to pay attention to you a little more? Thanks for commenting!
I had my cockatiel for a year yet he isn't tamed yet, although we've bonded, I tried hand feeding he seems fine but if I try to give a seed he would hiss and runaway. I play with him and whistle with him and he's already used to me. But if I put a finger near him he'd hiss at it. May I have some suggestions to tame him?
if I'm sitting on my bed i can get her to fly onto my arm if i have some millet. she only does this if i leave my budgies in their cage. but seems terrified if i stand next to her if she's sitting ontop of my tv. but is ok if I'm sitting and i don't try to go near her
Sarah Brodie does she fly away when you try go near or just start being aggressive? Could be territorial or sometimes the height difference. Birds like being high up if they wanna be in control.... see if you can approach her slowly or sit her out in the open while you go about your business so she’s used to you moving around without being scared 😊 let me know!
@@jordanalexander_311 if she is on my tv she moves to the opposite end if i walk over to her. if i move closer to her (I won't even look at her) then she will fly away. same if she is sitting ontop of her cage or my budgies cage. my budgies cage is taller than me, so when she is on that she is higher than me. with her cage she is about eye level with me. she doesn't show any aggression towards me (only to my budgies if they are out together). it's just hard after trying for almost a year. I mean I won't even look at her (just walk past her) and my tv and budgies cage see close together and she will fly around my room and scream. at that point I usually tell her to stop it and calm down.
@@jordanalexander_311 yep awesome, hey my cockatiel is fully hand trained and tamed now. How do I make her get use to getting taken outside cause usually she flys away from me when I do that and also how do you make cockatiels be touchable Thanks
@@rakinchowdhury194 that’s great! Just with the hand taming it takes time getting used to it! Birds instinctively feel more comfortable to get away when they are flying so it’s natural when they are overstimulated. Just keep trying, possibly move the cage outside too that helps get used to it!
I have a question.. so I have 1 cockatiel who is semi tamed and 2 budgies. my problem is that my cockatiel has bonded with them really well and so when ever I take him out he instantly tries to go back to them. When ever he’s not with them he starts singing. How can I train him if hes already bonded with them? If I separate him from them will he get sad or alone?
MiguelXI thanks for the question! this can be tough to train! Imprinting is normal for birds especially, but keen trying to spend more time around the 3 of them first and then more time with the cockatiel alone in a seperate room away from ear shot 🙏 even if they are anxious! hope it helps!
I got my cockatiel, Roxie, a week ago and I started trading her. I watched Elle’s channel and followed her steps to taming my wild cockatiel and Roxie has been eating out of my hand. 😊 she’s still hissing and backing away from me. Am I doing something wrong? How do I know if she’s trying to tell me I’m doing something wrong? Or is it just the fact that she doesn’t trust me yet?
NEVER NOT SHREK I think it would be okay for an occasional treat if they love it but high salt intake is not good for them! As it isn’t for us in huge doses but they are tiny!
My cockatiel died today, unknown reason but we have 2 left that I won’t let die no matter what so I’m doing as much research as I can. Rest in peace Hiko.
I’m learning more about birds and while you have positive reinforcement down as correct but for me personally I don’t like clipping their wings (this is a very touchy subject). I understand the reasonings but they were made to fly and it’s a fantastic way to burn off extra calories. If you spend a lot of time recall training you can have a lesser chance of them flying away and if they do you can try to track them and get them back and recall them.
have a teil right now bought it last jan 30..but im not sure yet of its gender wish i can let u see it..so it doesnt have its name yet...i temporarily call her/him "gigie/talah"
LABDAH KOH-AYAW thats awesome! Yer it’s hard to tell at first you might have to wait and see or take it to the vet for a check! They are so much fun when you build a great relationship 😊
cute bird and nice tips. Do you recommend getting 2 Tiels together in the beginning? I bought a nice big cage and I really love 2 of them but I am worried as I hear they will bond to each other more this way..
Dean Shehadeh thanks so much! It definitely can, but the more you are around and do seperate ‘bonding’ with them. You can keep a healthy relationship for all of you 😊
can I tame a cockatiel that wasn't hand raised? mine were being constantly grabbed at and scared at the store and they kinda hate me.. I can be near but not too much.. also I have two, should I separate them to tame them?
Christina Bibikova you can definitely tame them it will be harder.... separation will most likely speed up the process but it also leaves them bored.... you could try taking one out at a time and take them to another room to train them?
What should i do if my cockatiel is completely intolerant of people touching him and using the to get a treat you have to climb onto my hand method just causes him to get scared and climb away? Would it be okay to end the training and try again the next day? Because i always here never end a training session on a bad note.
I have 2 new cockatiels, one named Alli and one named Gator. They are cute but they don’t really like anyone around them. They got a bit used to me since they’re in my room.
Hey I got a 4month old tiel.....hes not afraid of any human presence...he keeps preening when my hand is in the cage but he moves away from it once my finger gets close to him...any tips to remove his fear for fingers
thanks for commenting! Have a read of some of the other comments but essentially take him out of the cage away to another space if you can and allow him to trust you more :)
Your bird is so beatiful! I just got a cockatiel the other day and he's partially trained. However, he is very scared and always goes under my desk when we let him out! With him I got two budgies and the female one seems to argue with Frankie (the cockatiel). Do you know what to do or why it's happening??
Thats so cool and thankyou! They tend to get territorial over one friend, but they will get used to each other in time.... I think hierarchy is important in birds too so once dominance is established it should come to order quite nicely :)
I've just recently got 2 cockatiels, one is 11mths and the other is 14mths, I was told one was tame and loves to be stroked and the other was naughty and bites, I talk to them all the time and sit next to their cage, I've put my hand in the cage with some food but they still seem scared, any advice would be much appreciated
I recently got a new female cockatiel who is around 4 months old. When I saw her at the pet store she was very friendly and stepped onto my hand fairly easily. But once I brought her home she does not want to be touched by anyone. She can be very talkative (I usually have conversations with her) and likes to follow me around sometimes when I walk around her cage. She is also hand raised How can I train her to trust me and step onto my finger again?
Sounds like a sweet little girl! I recommend opening the cage and allowing her to come out of if she wants and try tempt her onto your hand with treats. Very often birds can get territorial about their cages and hands coming inside it can be seen as coming into their space... At first its best to just get her used to you being there and having your hand nearby but her choice to step up. Once you've got her onto your hand its best to do training away from that cage to get her to trust you more and not want to run away to the cage for safety. Hope that helps! Let me know how you get on!

@@sofiakaden6021 I’m sorry to hear! I am not a vet sadly so I couldn’t possibly diagnose! Keep trying for specialists or rescue places too might be able to help
I would definitely recommend a male cockatiel if you can handle the noise. Males are more likely to be louder than the females. But I've noticed the females are squawk and hissers. Males are usually better tempered. Also, I've known someone who's female cockatiel died suddenly because their egg didn't pass through correctly. It showed no symptoms and by the time they found out something was wrong, it was too late. A lot of other things can happen to the females with egg laying. So I'd just rather have less chance of losing my best friend.
You A Clown yes I definitely agree with this! Nothing wrong with females but the males seem to edge out the competition slightly if you can handle the loud chats!
Hey Darren, they usually can be vocal quite early on in a few months. Especially with other cockatiels or birds to copy. The males are generally more chatty than females but I’ve heard loud and quite versions of both 🤷♂️ try repeating certain things for treats to encourage 😊
@@Loveemanit you need to let him trust you first its gonna take alot of time of course but don't force your bird to bond with you It can take to from a couple of months to years if you're not careful
Hello . Im thinking of getting a cockateil . Some sites say that if u want to train them its better to get one. Some say they need company and you should get 2.. im confused.. can u help me.. if i buy just one is it ok or is it unfair not to him a companion..
Fair question! I believe it is fine to just have one as long as you are around to spend time with it.... If you are away long hours every day it would be better with a friend :)
Thank you so much for your reply. I decided to go for a pair of cockatiels instead of one. It's been 3 weeks and now and they are comfortable sitting on my hand and feeding. These birds have not been clipped.. and frankly i don't want to clip their wings.. I thought it's better for them to settle down in their cage before I allow them to come out of the cage.. can u give me tips as to how I can train them to come out of the cage and go back in.. since their wings have not been clipped I'm worried they will fly high in the room..and I won't be able to get them to return to the cage.. my female cockatiel understand step up..in the sense that she sees food in one have then she will step on my other hand when I ask her to . My male tiel is naughty.. he will never step on my hand . Instead fly on the cage nearest to my hand and climb onto my hand.. I really want to take them out but I'm worried they will just fly around and I'm worried how I will convince them to go back in..
Jigna Lakhani very nice choice! I’m happy they are settling in nicely! Trust is everything, you may get them flying around if you’ve given them that freedom. They will come back especially if there’s food just give them time and gently encourage them to step onto your hand. You’ll find once they fly away from the safety of the cage they will be more trusting of you over the scary new place they have flown too! So see how you go letting them come out on their own and judge it from there 😊 just watch for stuff they can get hurt on!
I did it... I got my birds out.. and they stayed on the cage... Yippeeee!!! Was good fun for the birds and my 8yr old son.. it was so cool. So it's confirmed.. no need to clip wings.. u just gotta earn their trust!!! Thank u so much for the encouragement and advise. .. feeling more confident now .
Jigna Lakhani that’s amazing! Well done I’m so pleased to hear! 🙏 yes no need to clip wings if staying inside! My little guy comes outside gardening with me so he has one clipped incase he gets scared by a passing bigger bird or parrot in the sky over my house or cockatoo! Glad you found this helpful 😊
I know this is so late- but i got a cockatiel- hez about 4-5 months old and previous owners said he was hand tamed- i saw him with them- he was fine- but with me he is sooo vicious- he lunges at me to bite my hands But once i get him on he also sits on my shoulder He allowed my husband head scratch but then bit him too- i dont know how to train this half tame half vicious thing- any tips? He wont be cajoled with any treat- i ised millet an sunflower seeds- he just wants to bite hands and no treat attracts him. Pleasseeee help
Got new cockatiel yesterday was fixing a bar she got out so i tried to get her back in and she bit and wouldn't let go mostly just paces the cage comes closer and puffs up and does the closing eyes thing when talked to and little chirps
I could use some suggestions if that’s okay. I adopted my rescue cockatiel over a year ago. He still has a hard time trusting me, he does try to bite me. I do go at his pace I have for the past year. He does step up but still gets scared when I go to try to get him to step up. He’s on a good healthy diet looooves veggies, especially bell peppers. Those are his favorite. But I noticed he doesn’t like being around me. He will tolerate me in the room and when I hold him. But soon as I movie he starts freaking out. He does come on command ONLY if I have treats. I’ve noticed recently he doesn’t even like doing that any more. I’m worried he will never bond with me. It’s been over a year infact it’s been a year and 4 months now. He is out of the cage almost 24/7 I keep it open he has ALOT of toys I try using that to help bond with him. But he just doesn’t like me. He does bite every now and then when I do his food, or grabbing stuff out of his cage. Even when I’ve done step up he has bit me. I know even if he never trust me I will always love him. But that doesn’t stop the worry he may never fully trust me. No matter what I do.
Sounds challenging but you’re doing all the right things! Try avoiding things that make him want to bite… so maybe if you are cleaning the cage and it’s okay to have him somewhere else it might help as they are super protective of their safe space! I think with rescues it’s hard to ever have full human trust but it does happen so don’t lose faith! Just keep going with everything it sounds like you’re doing great. Mine still sometimes get bitey but only if they are upset, just as us humans do haha 😅 hope that helps!
So even if I get a hand tamed/socialized 8 week old from a breeder, they likely will bite and be afraid of hands when we bring him home? Breeder promised he will be friendly and learn to step up bc she gives them scratches and pets then before selling. Nervous he won’t connect with my kids. They’re so exited bc we have a male budgie who really dislikes then.
Please tell my 2 cockatiel are not tame they can eat with my hand but when I can take my hand in cage they can scared and bite me and there wings was clipped both are 7 months old
so my cockatiel doesn’t hiss at me and he’s only tired to bite me once and he ended up not he’s eaten seed from my hand once and will eat millet spray i’m holding but he still runs away from me and his head crest is always up unless he’s eating i’ve had him for almost 4 weeks and i need tricks to help idk if i’m doing this right
Mandy G this is fairly common with only 4 weeks of training! Make sure you are letting him approach you first and keep the movements slow and steady! It takes a lot of patience but keep at it and keep working on routine. Birds looooove routine! 😊
Emma's Chanel if it is in the first few weeks and months of life it can be quite quick as they learn fast but depending on how old or how stuck in their ways it can be a matter of weeks or years 🤷♂️ hope that helps!
Do you only have one cockatiel? Ps: good explanation with the tricks and rewards but I hope you do not give him too much of the sunflower seeds, they are very rich in fat.
Laiba Amber that shouldn’t be too difficult. With any bird it is simply repetition and reward that will work. You will have to move slowly and get it to trust you. A timeline is hard to tell but I’d say if you are spending time a few short minutes each day trying to gain its trust you should start to see changes each week. Let the bird trust you and make the first moves and you can get there I promise! 🙏😊
I have a 12 year old little lady, she is terrified of everyone and everything. I rescued her from people who never showed her affection and never did any training with her. I’ve had a lot of struggle tying to make her trust me and use to my hands but I’m starting to give up. Does anyone have any tips on how to get started or at least to gain trust from her? Thank you in advanced.
Gabriela Pires that’s really difficult for you I’m sure! Past trauma is a hard one to get past especially if it was from humans! I would say literally you would have to move very slowly and always let her come to you. Give her as much control as you can and safety as possible and it can slowly be rebuilt. Although at 12 years old I’d say the poor girl isn’t going to get all that much better than she is at the moment. Just give her the best life you can and give her what she enjoys and it may turn around a little for you! I sincerely hope it works
Haha yes I see the confusion! But yes he was hand raised meaning for the first few weeks of life he was being handled and trained. I just continued this on until the video you see here 😊 hopefully me sharing my experience and the behaviours it can and gratefully has helped a lot of people 🙏 appreciate you watching
My tiel is 8 weeks old, or about that...I like to do finger step ups with him, but then I introduced him to my shoulder. Now, all he wants to do is crawl up my foot, arm, or attempt to fly from my hand to my shoulder. And he likes to stay there...almost feels like bad behavior
thats really great that he's sweet and has trusted you that much! Just move slowly and keep up the patient practice! If he is willing to come out of the cage it might help too rather than put your hand in all the time but see how you go! Practice and Patience Patience Patience!! :-D
I got a couple of cockatiels about a month ago. Unfortunately, a week later, the female accidentally flew away and left behind the male. He panicked and hurt himself ( bleed a little bit) :(. He refused to eat or speak. So, last week, I decided to get 2 more baby cockatiels. And now the male is literally staring at the kids all day through their cage. He even leans his head against their cage and sleeps. Just like a mother scaring losing her children. It's truly a heartbreaking scene :(
Tuyết Nhi Nguyễn thats so sad! What a heartbreaking story! I know the male will be very sad but the babies will help once they can hang out together :) I really hope it goes well! You’ve got to be so careful with flighting birds for that reason! Good luck let me know how you go!
Amber Reed haha oh really? Yer sometimes they can be strong! You’ll have to try get her to stop going so hard! Maybe try rewards system for good behaviour!

Stun Angel I totally agree that with patience it isn’t needed at all, but I live in an area with so many flying lorikeets and other birds that often will spook my little guy and cause him to fly. It’s really for his own safety and it allows him to fly gently to the ground without disappearing and risking being hurt or injured. It does not hurt the bird if it’s done correctly. So just like you and I (probably more so you) get haircuts, it’s the same deal 😊🙏 thanks for commenting. Love the names!

That’s classic behaviour! They are still very very new! You shouldn’t expect them to trust you for a few weeks at least.... every day spend 10-20 mins with them doing the same routine and be slow and patient - you’ll get there 😊

You’re a beautiful human being 😍.. great vid too lol

Why
Cute!!! Birdy
thankyou so much!
Hi, I may be a little late, but I have 2 female cockatiels and they are sisters. They are both around a year old and I got them in November 2019, but they still aren't very tame. Do you think I can still tame them like your little buddy or do you think I'm too late?
James Versteege never too late! I’m sure you can make some great progress if you persist! Would love to know how you go 🙏
I have two female cockatiels, Dorian and Debbie, one of them is more comfortable with me coming near them and the other is more comfortable to new things.

Keep repeating this 5-10 times a day every day for a week and then when she does it without biting you can try taking the glove off 😊
@@jordanalexander_311 Thx for the reply :) would this also help with touching her? since whenever i do she gets really angry
Hydreji yes you have to get her used to having your hand near her - stepping up onto your hand is the first step then holding and touching and scratching come later on when she trusts you more 😊
@@jordanalexander_311 ok thx for the advice :)
@@jordanalexander_311 is there any other things i should do to gain her trust?
i’ve been building trust with my bird but she was born with her parents here. and she listens to me but also wants to be with her parents. i don’t know what do , i think i should give up. does anyone have tips?
I mean I won't even look at her (just walk past her) and my tv and budgies cage see close together and she will fly around my room and scream.
at that point I usually tell her to stop it and calm down.
maybe build some more trust with her
Cannot wait to get a cockatiel

@@jordanalexander_311 yep awesome, hey my cockatiel is fully hand trained and tamed now. How do I make her get use to getting taken outside cause usually she flys away from me when I do that and also how do you make cockatiels be touchable

@@rakinchowdhury194 that’s great! Just with the hand taming it takes time getting used to it! Birds instinctively feel more comfortable to get away when they are flying so it’s natural when they are overstimulated. Just keep trying, possibly move the cage outside too that helps get used to it!
Your cockatiel is cute
Hey, my cockatiel is fully tamed and finger trained but she freaks out and fly around the house when I take her out. What should I do to make her calm

I’m learning more about birds and while you have positive reinforcement down as correct but for me personally I don’t like clipping their wings (this is a very touchy subject). I understand the reasonings but they were made to fly and it’s a fantastic way to burn off extra calories. If you spend a lot of time recall training you can have a lesser chance of them flying away and if they do you can try to track them and get them back and recall them.

cute bird and nice tips.
@@jordanalexander_311 thank you so much!! I'll try that ❤️🥰
What should i do if my cockatiel is completely intolerant of people touching him and using the to get a treat you have to climb onto my hand method just causes him to get scared and climb away? Absolutely right! Always try reason with your bird and see what the mood is like. Good mood = good training!

She is also hand raised
How can I train her to trust me and step onto my finger again?
Sounds like a sweet little girl! I recommend opening the cage and allowing her to come out of if she wants and try tempt her onto your hand with treats. Very often birds can get territorial about their cages and hands coming inside it can be seen as coming into their space... At first its best to just get her used to you being there and having your hand nearby but her choice to step up. Once you've got her onto your hand its best to do training away from that cage to get her to trust you more and not want to run away to the cage for safety. Hope that helps! Let me know how you get on!
Thank you so much for the tips! She just got onto my shoulder and let me pick her up with my finger :)

Do you recommend getting a Male or female ?
Do you use a cage?
My cockatiel very quiet odd chirp every now and again. What age do they get vocal
Hey Darren, they usually can be vocal quite early on in a few months. Especially with other cockatiels or birds to copy. The males are generally more chatty than females but I’ve heard loud and quite versions of both 🤷♂️ try repeating certain things for treats to encourage 😊

Mine still sometimes get bitey but only if they are upset, just as us humans do haha 😅 hope that helps!
can you make the wing clipping video please!
Yes I should! I’ve been growing his wings to should everyone!

My cockatiel is named Sam and doesn't like sunflower seeds 😂
If the bird is around ten months old, and hasn't really been tamed, how long would it take for me to gain his trust?

Hello_ Yoto have a check of some of the comments before! It takes a long time to get to a good relationship with your bird especially if it’s older and set in its ways...
All I can say is put in the time to get to know and build the trust with your bird and over time you’ll see results - patience needs to be number 1!
Idyllic _ If your bird is scared of you, keep the food out of the cage and bring it in after 2 hours or so. This works. I did this with my own Parent raised 4 months old Cockatiel.
indiana zones every time I go near it, she freaks out and stars flapping. I bought her at a farmers market, and I think the people I bought her from abused her because she has several scratches on her
@@indianazones8579 thats awesome advice! Thanks for sharing Im sure it will help everyone!
@@blurryface63-40 Thats probably right she may have had a troubled upbringing. It may mean she is harder to teach but she may still end up trusting you more than you think :)
My female cockatiel is not as hyper as yours so it is more difficult I found to train her
Press X to doubt every cockatiel is different! You have to learn your little friend as best you can 😊
My two dudes are Pepper ( as of Pepper Keenan) and Cash (as of Johnny Cash). They're brothers and both of em are quite social aldough Cash is quite the boss , and doesn't obey as much as Pepper. Still I would NEVER cut a bird's wings. That's just f*cked up.
With patience no clipping is needed.
Thanks for the vid !
Art Supplies That explains everything ! I take my bad words back if there are any ! Love the content tho , keep on up and up ! 🤘🏻😁
@@Inkzilla_ thats totally okay! thanks for commenting and appreciate the love :)
thanks, my cockatiel kept running away and biting me when i tried to hold her
I got mine yesterday well two to be more specific they don’t flinch away when I sit next to their cage but if I try to get them to eat from my hand both of them step back idk I am kinda losing my patience with those two I asked my father to pick them up and he almost got bitten but they were both hissing 😳
That’s classic behaviour! They are still very very new! You shouldn’t expect them to trust you for a few weeks at least.... every day spend 10-20 mins with them doing the same routine and be slow and patient - you’ll get there 😊
My cockatieks name is hunter he is really scared i cant even get near the cage because he starts going crazy and hurts himself
How to trame your bird: clip his wings so he has no choice!
Anita Angya hey! I appreciate the comment :) as I’ve stated in my other comments you don’t have to clip wings. My guy can actually fly pretty well most of the time, he just knows he likes to stay close to me. We have a great bond and he trusts me a lot :) I really hope you can have a great relationship with your pet too! 😊🙏
It sounds like my cockatiel says "really"⊙u⊙
in my opinion, clipping a birds wings is cruel. i have a cockatiel and i would never clip his wings. hes really sweet and im trying to see if i can free flight him.
Alex_cipher 124 that’s great! It definitely doesn’t hurt my little fella and he’s used to it and doesn’t mind too much :) I spose it depends how you want to raise them but they can be happy either way!
My cocktail is still scared of me. I dont really know what to do :( i talk to him and whisle songs but as soon i put My hand out he gets scared 😔
He will be scared but be patient and leave your hand close by for a while so he can get used to it! Persistence is key 🔑
@@jordanalexander_311 he has now Come over to eat while holding those long stiks with seeds on. Startet with the tip only and now he has Come over while My budgie was eating and ate by My finger 😊 he was watching while My budgie was eating and then he came over 😊
