Oshi no Ko Got a New Ending and Its Even Worse

- Oshi no Ko got a new extended ending today and it is something that systematically outlines the bigger issues with the final arc of the story. Its like Aka-sensei knew of the issues with the ending and tried to patch them up, but just gave a Wiki summary. Like this legit makes me not want to read his next work.

Aka heard everyone clowning saying "don't go for the incest route" so he was like "aight, bet, imma do worse"
Incest would unironically be a better alternative than the crap we're gettin rn
I mean he should’ve ended with the incest route but with ai reincarnation as their child 😂
I mean, I don't understand why the first route. Is that bad, for one.. It's not real, and 2. Their bodies may be related, but their spirits are not.
@@lazyman2451 Keep the bloodline goin
Taking a 25% chance offspring has a defect at birth. We'll i guess they believe in the middle age idea of keeping the bloodline pure......
A lot of people also gave Kubo crap for the Thousand Year Blood War arc and ending in the manga back in the day, but when you see stuff like this, he deserves an apology as well.
I never blamed him for that ending, it seemed like he was rushed. The anime ending will be better because Kubo actually has the chance to cook
I don't even think that ending was bad. Just rushed, but the most important things were there
He has health issues.
People did give him a lot of shit before they realized that he had health issues and was rushed to no end. I am just glad that he is healthy enough to make the changes that he wants. Not only that, but we get the hell verse chapters + the london district.
Bleach's ending is good comparing to Oshi no Ko, BnHA, SnK.....😂

@@RocSandy the ending wasn’t bad. A tragic ending of Ruby alone and repeating AI’s mistake. It was the lead up to it the last 20 or so chapters.
This Manga should've just been a revenge story.
Aqua avenges his mother, the end. How fucking hard is that?
Aqua got confused and stabbed himself. This was pokemon all along!
revenge stories in manga, anime and light novels struggle with maintaining that central theme and quickly stray.
From a non reader so it is stupid.
Oshi no Ko's plot should have been Aqua's pursuit of revenge while trying to protect Ruby from the darker side of the industry.
Ruby on the other hand should have been contrast of Aqua where she is not connected to the dark side and any attempts by said side are intercepted by Aqua.
Towards the end Ruby finds out about what Aqua is doing and becomes conflicted or guilty about everything Aqua has done straining the relationship for a time.
Akane the realist that understands that both sides exists, accepts them and deals with them.
Kana the same as Ruby however in her case she doesn't have an Aqua protecting her.
Ending would be post revenge either I route or multi way relationship with Ai reborn. It doesn't really matter about a realistic ending we have reincarnation in the story.

Akasaka is a hack that can't write
I think Aka loses interest after the fifth Volume, gets an idea for a new series, immediately focuses on new series, Publisher reminds him to finish previous work, he finishes it in a half assed way,
returns to new work, finishes fifth Volume, gets bored, gets new series idea. Rinse and repeat.
Yeah, Aka has the ability to write but it seems like once he starts to lose investment in the story in one way or another he falls off. 😅
Tezuka Osamu did kinda same thing too. He writes a lot of stories and a lot of them are unfinished because he got bored and dropped it. Example like Dororo he didn't finish it and when Mappa remake it they have to write like half of the story till the end.

I won’t ever read the authors work again, if this is how they end a story there is no worth in looking at their next work.
Honestly, fair.
should have let him do the incest route.
I understand the passion project that Aka wanted to work on got canned, but the way Aka is handling this is unreal. Depending on how the anime goes, I will make sure my friends never have to deal with this series.
That's basically a "how to ruin your reputation and career as an author 101."
Idk if Aka even realizes this.
Same! Oshi no Ko showed that you can not trust this dude to give his fans a proper payoff for their time and money. Who the heck wants to be done dirty like that? Not me.
I thought the original ending was fine till I thought about it more. After all of that Ruby just becomes her mom is pretty sad and makes her development not even worth it. This ending is def worse however, like how does akane even figure out gods exist let alone tsukuyomi? She never questioned the little girl’s existence during the last arc and now it’s just “oh I’m the main character now and she’s a goddess” like what? It’s in character but it doesn’t make sense.
She discovered tsukuyomi? Should we tell Madara or is she now Madara, or his reincarnate? Has Madara transcends reality now? The power of Sharigan is so unreal, lol
I love it is amzing l fell şad for Ruby❤
I really don't think I've seen a series just... give up on itself like this. Literal "nah, I'm done" moment.
I really liked Love is War but after seeing oshi no ko took off with all the problems it had over the years, I think Aka got arrogant and the love for his own work is gone

Aka just damaged his career as an author.
Now if he starts his passion project, it'll probably not do well due to Oshi No Ko.
-starts a passion project
-get bored of it
-end it abruptly
Rinse and repeat
@@noobymooby-ty8gh And that right there is why his career is damaged goods in the first place. Why invest the time getting invested in his works at all if he's just going to do this shit again to his next reader base. This is how an author gets hated by his own audience, who would want to pick up his next work now.
What this seems like to me is that Aka had a specific ending in mind when he came up with the concept of Oshi No Ko, but then the story and characters evolved beyond that initial concept. In spite of that, it seems he was dead-set on keeping his original ending, leading to him crowbarring the story and characters to come to that ending.
This is why when writing you write backwards in this case. It's a writing technique where you think of hte ending first and then write backwards.
This is why you don't write on the fly. This is why you follow the plan you have come up with. I dislike pantsers for acting like geniuses that don't have to think to write a great story. Even they have to reference the prior chapters to plan the next chapter, even if they are writing on the fly. That's basically what planners do, but in a neat, organised setting to avoid major edits later down the line.
But those who don't plan well or forget what came previously often end up writing terrible stories.
I had expected Oshi no ko's story to have a disastrous ending, but not of _this_ kind. This is a disaster of the author not respecting his audience. And I sure as hell will not give this author any future chances.
Bro could have drove the story back to his planned ending but nah he'll just teleport cause bored

Kingdom Hearts syndrome much?
The biggest sin with Oshi no Ko's ending is that it's just not following what had been set up -- it read like they'd skipped a whole minor arc, and I'd actually argue that the worst part is if Aka-sensei had just followed what had been set up instead? It'd have been possible to set up the exact same epilogue novel AND people would be overall happier. You'd not even have to change much AND it'd likely take fewer pages since you'd not have to waste time with explaining Aqua's absurdly-complex plan, just go with Hikaru's mental health taking the truth really badly (instead of WTF Aka-sensei went with, no srsly WTF), and then the only thing you'd have to do is remember that the sequel novel's announcement should come no later than the final manga chapter's initial drop.
It’s funny how many mangas keep getting ending dlc’s.
As someone who was interested in Oshi no Ko, interested in its dark twist, its commentary on the entertainment industry, watched the first season of the anime, read through the manga, and was interested in the characters, seeing the series have a fall from grace like this depresses me. It makes me feel betrayed and played for a fool. Like I’m now made to feel stupid for ever showing genuine interest in the series. A story/series shouldn’t make you feel stupid for ever being genuinely interested and immersed into it.
This manga should have multiple endings and let fans or whoever to decide which ending is canon or leave it up to interpretation tbh, that's what i think tbh

Akane is no longer a ride or die girlfriend. Now she is not even allowing you to die
I'm even questioning if the Oshi no Ko anime is even worth continuing at this point, knowing that THIS is what we have to look forward to. As an Oshi no Ko fan, I'm very sad this series ended up ending this badly...and that the characters basically get no closure, Ruby is barely mentioned/kinda shown to be Ai 2.0 and continuing the toxic trait of holding/masking your feelings and lying to your audience. Gods that is pure unadulterated trash! Especially in terms of character development and stuff. Maybe the novel will give more context...at this point...I'm not holding my breath. Feels like one of those modern hookup anime, but maybe the manga has more emotion.
At least its not as bad as Kuzu No Honkai. But perhaps these two genres don't appeal to me since I'm not a girl.
Hookup culture stuff seems to appeal more to them.
As a romance fan these two feel anti-romance. Like they both have that thing where they just give up their bodies like whatever unlike in usual anime.

After reading an interview with Aka-sensei, I must say I have very mixed feelings. Because his intentions for the story together with how things ended up give off vibes that he actually wants everyone to be pissed off just to send a message. He stated in a recent interview, that "Oshi no Ko" as a whole is a story about miscommunication and how the characters are all dealing with it or trying to overcome it. This ending would indeed be a pay-off in that regard, because the characters somewhat reaped what they sowed. Aqua for example probably wouldn't have thrown his life away if Kana simply told him that she loves him or if he himself allowed anyone to get involved in his problems, because then he could have remembered that he shouldn't only care about Ruby's fate when he's gone. You are probably supposed to be angry, since all of this is something downright idiotic they could have avoided by simply communicating better, or at least that's what you're supposed to think. I get similiar vibes from these crudely drawn extra pages now that might be intentionally kinda soulless to portray how Mem-cho's stream there is being perceived by the internet. The comments there seem pretty passive-agressive and salty about this whole situation and how she's trying to put everything into a positive light without going into more detail about everyone's whereabouts. One of the comments even is "but people aren't just made of lies", it's implying the people are getting sick of that fabricated world that allows no negativity or transparency, so her stream did more harm than good and now these extra pages have a similiar effect irl. My interpretation is that the ending is supposedly a statement about how important it is to hear someone out first instead of only assuming what someone needs and then lying to them or worse, but it does a bad job in conveying it better (ironically enough). So what you get is something that just feels like purposely bad writing with weird excuses, especially because I don't even know if it is also an example of miscommunication when the characters just forget about their own development and lessons they went through. The ending's execution really is the problem here.
It should have been easy to make up good ending for Oshi no ko The sea is not that complicated. It’s a simple story telling that revenge is bad type of story. It shouldn’t have been that difficult to write an ending for it my hero and JJK are far more complicated series than Oshi no ko not everything in my hero and JJK would’ve been resolved because their series is far more complicated but the same problem should not have happened to oshi no ko this series is very simple to follow. How does this manga has far worst ending than those series it’s crazy to see that this series got a worst ending then MHA and JJK all they had to do was let Aqua live, and let him live happily for the rest of his life with his loved ones that was the whole point of the series. Revenge was never the point of the series. It was all about aqua getting over his mothers, death, and letting go of revenge and living happily with his family and loved ones that would’ve been a better ending a tragic ending does not work for a series like this

Chibi Reviews, imagine if what this special chapter, despite being soulless and trash, is true about the new plot points with Akane in this, and even if Mengo becomes the new author of Oshi no Ko after Aka, maybe somewhere in the future, there will be a sequel of Oshi no ko with Mengo as the author since she put much love in it, or she will made that spin-off manga, which she talks about it in the interview. this would’ve been a much better ending than the one we got
I would like to make one change to this. Gorou always viewed Sarina like his sister. Her death was something akin to the death of his family member. In this life, Aqua actually felt fortunate that Sarina became his sister for real as Ruby. But he also rejects her proposal because he never viewed her that way, plus he likes Kana. Knowing that Gorou never had her in his heart as a romantic interest, Ruby gets depressed but gets over it like the champ she is, knowing that Aqua still loved her. Later she meets someone different, someone who is a fan of Aqua or Ai or something and while fangirling with him about the stuff they love, they both fall in love with each other or something.
Oh wait, Melt looks up to Aqua. Nah, his and Ruby's dynamic was whack. Someone else please.
man thx for writing this ending, im just gonna think of this one instead, to keep my love for the series from diminuishing.
Feels like The last of us 2 all over again where the fans make better stories in accordence with charakter development and respekt to a series.
imagine if this is anime orignal ending....
This has to be the stupidest story I’ve ever read
It's crazy how Mangas are getting new endings. But not only new endings, but endings that's worse than the orignal. Like Who's these editors letting this slide
Yikes, I'm getting flashbacks of 'His and Her Circumstances'. For anyone who hasn't seen the anime... the ending just crumbled.
strange... i always thought the ending was bizarre yet memorable but then again, Anno and the mangaka were having a dispute during the middle of the production and thus the outcome of the anime ending. But I don't know why but i still find the remaining epsiode interesting for me.
Yup, Aka's definitely tired of Oshi no Ko.
cant belive he wrote Love is War. Didnt finish it tho so idk how the end is but the show was nice
still wondering how he went from Love is War to _this_
Love is War's ending left me a bit wanting, but overall I can live with it and it doesn't take anything away from the series. Nowhere near the level of disrespect we were served here.
Love is war was a great ride with a lot of great arcs, the final one wasn't everyone's favourite but was still solid overall.
So from what I'm seeing here, just avoid all his future works because he tends to fall off towards the end. Got it.
@@miragespl I wouldn't say it fell off really, its just the highs of Kaguya were very high, it was still a good arc.
These pages look more like they were made out of spite, and I have to wonder if the new pages for My Hero's ending were something the mangaka wanted to do. It sucks when you want to take your story in a certain direction but you're shot down. These aren't our stories. They are the Mangaka's. I've seen a lot of series with endings I wasn't fond of or disagree with. Sometimes the mangaka is rushed, but other times they end their stories how they want it to end. Forcing them to redo it lands you with pages like this: soulless, spiteful, and devoid of passion. We're free to express dislike towards an ending to series we love but sometimes that's just how it is. In this case Aka probably checked out when the direction he wanted to go was shot down. It sucks for the fans, yes, but making him do more won't end well for anyone clearly.
Akane was truly the main character
If this was Kubo, and he wanted to put more information in the Manga, because it is his work and he wanted it to be perfect, but he couldn't. Because the editor department was negating him to do what he wanted to do. They want him to end the story, but luckily, we got the light novels, and we had a closure, and that was fine. But we are talking about Aka. If Oshi no ko was a light novel instead, and we got all this information, that would be fine if somebody else would work on the manga alternative. How would that be different? Would've been good or bad-your own opinion on this question.
Normally, I don't think it's right to criticise people's artwork given how many different styles & media exist (especially since i still have lots of trouble with anatomy & perspective) but Holly shit.
The drawings don't even look properly inked. They look no further than the clean pencil stage of creating a comic / manga.
Each page looks as if they are just finished sketching and are about to start linking.
novel better compensate for the ending, at least adding some substance to the whole plot point of aqua's death.
Glad I waited on this series because it feels terrible when something has a lot of momentum takes a nosedive and loses its focus, looking at you Rent-A-Girlfriend. I’m glad My Dress Up Darling got somewhere.
I’m excited for S2
I never got into Oshi No Ko, I just recently followed some of the stuff because of the controversy. And I think it might have been because of the burn caused by Act-Age's cancellation that I didn't want to get interested in another manga about the entertainment industry. I wonder, if that manga ever got to get a proper ending, would it be a good or bad ending?
Mangaka in 2024 when ut came to ending be like: Nah, I'd fumble 😭
It doesn't even matter, oshi no ko was never anything special, y'all overhyped yourselves over a mid idol / acting series all because of the intro to the anime. people didn't read this shit until the anime came out. The numbers don't lie.
ya man true I feel like a monkey who was given a shiny banana but by the end of it I realized that it was a dildo all along .......I just hate it to the bone now
The end of the novella is extremely obvious, in the end kana or ruby will have a child with a random man, so that aqua can be born again as this child, is the end badly yes obvious as the ending from the manga.
what is with all these mangaka finishing the manga, they trying to patch their stuff after it is done?
It is like game developers releasing a buggy game and trying to patch it post release.
It is annoying af.
Maybe as an act of protest against the editors wishes (they do have some creative control over a manga) or anmending things with the fanbase
This manga was total shit like I still ask to anyone defending this.........what the freak was the point of whole journey then huh!! like come on man . I was having an hunch when I was in mid season of oshi no ko that " why is it kind of seems like it is not worth time......" and guess what, it truly wasn't not even a single minute wasted time reading this disappointing manga. Which wastes your time by that lame ass boring actor shit and then MC is like ya I should die..........always going to be spectacle of oshi no ko's authors future work now .
Bro he should just stop his mangaka career at this point.... should do some other stuff like seriously....i m done with him how much i loved love is war and these days... the stuff he writes 😞
I just watch the anime to ep 20 and think I'm gonna buy manga box set.
After 2 videos of you talking about the manga. I'll not buy it.
I don't care, I'm never touching this writers work again
I never like Aka's series, either way, it's a win for me 😂
I dont know if its me but this seemed like a pretty tough year for manga
Hello there again :D
So the ending stayed horrible. I won't watch any future seasons of the anime that's for sure !
if someone somehow manages to make worse ending (regardless of it being oshi no ko or not) they would deserve oscar
I tried reading that sht and I still don't understand why people like in the first place 🤨
I swear I will never watch/read anything from Aka again...
And this is why Wattpad exists people!
Really hoping that a fanfic correction to the ending comes to fruition 🙏🤞.
