Gallbladder removal surgery, also known as a cholecystectomy, is a very common procedure. The gallbladder stores bile, a fluid produced by the liver that helps break down fatty foods.
I had my gallblatter removed September 12 and I was in antibiotics for 4 days prior to my surgery all together after surgery I was in hospital till Monday 5 days after surgery worst pain ever my incision is 12 inches long and I’m still in pain the drainage tube hurts me a lot too. Seems like very easy surgery but not everyone is the same and my surgery lasted 3 hours. I’m thankful I’m still alive
Relax . You just had your gall removed . It’s not that you Had a brain tumour removed . What you Mean you are glad u are still alive ? It’s a very easy operation .
Had mine out almost 11years back, I was very lucky, surgery took a bit longer then usual, 3hours, the surgeon said it had started to break down, fell apart during removal, I had been in pain for over half a year. I was only in for the day, back fully to myself in 2weeks. I hope everyone else is as lucky or has as good a surgeon.
@@jennifer369 thats normal but its done so fast and u go home that day. The painkillers they give u helps a whole lot. U will be ok dont think about it to much. U will bounce back after that 1st week.
ShayLa T3 thank you! I’m super nervous and this is my first surgery so I’m nervous about being put to sleep and surgery itself. But no one gets it expect the ones who have gone through it.
I had mine removed May 2019 and I haven't been the same. I ended up with a upper respiratory infection a few days after it. Then I couldn't keep anything on my stomach. So my family doctor said I needed to have a CT done. They found a mark on my liver and a abscess in the area my gall bladder was removed. So they said we need to do a MRI to get a better look. It's been up and down since then. Some days I can eat and keep it on my stomach. The worst part is if you get stressed it only makes eating worse. The Surgeon was sent the information about what was going on. She never contacted me to see how I was doing. I will never let this Surgeon perform any surgery on me again. I hope to never need another one. Hoping to one day feel like myself again.
sorry to hear this, but didn't they do an ultrasound, ct scan and MRI first?, that should have been done first, and then decide the course of action to take.
I was rushed into hospital as an emergency i have chronic pancreatitis and thought that had flared up again the pain from that i don't have words to explain it..so I arrived at hospital got a scan that revealed my pancreas hadn't kicked off. What the Dr. Scanning me said exact words oh my god your gallbladder is full to bursting with stones and then frightened me some what when she then said oh my god it is completely infected..she'd already told me about the stones so when she said oh my god as she carried on Scanning i didn't know what was coming. Thankfully she just meant how infected it was. I'd only felt pain that morning which was so bad everyone thought it was my pancreas I can't describe the pain you can suffer with CP but this was very close anyways i was in hospital for 3 weeks.
Just had mine out this week, little to no pain from surgery site...the pain was from left over gas, it is extremely painful in your shoulders and chest. Walking and hot tea helped
Just got my remove yesterday Still in a lot of pain.... my was infected and swelling I was in a lot of pain so the doctor recommended surgery to remove it
@ShayLa Lynnette... totally agree with you... very helpful info. Just had mine removed 3wks ago and was smooth. Spent the night in hospital only bcoz I had a late surgery but was discharged the next day/morning.👍👍
The gas pains after you wake from anesthetic are quite intense as soon as I woke up I reacted to the pain almost instantly squirming in agony they had to give me every single painkiller they possibly could
i just found a case yesterday, a women had her galbladder removed 16 years ago she had the same pain might be as yours, now she had a 3 times ERCP and the doc said the stones in the bileduct hadn't been completely removed, what i mean to say is, this is the same case as yours, the bile duct stones if not removed before GBL surgury it gives the same pain later. So the stones in the bile duct had to be removed first.

Mine was 3 hours too. Not the laproscopy. How long before you could go back to work?
Why didn’t they do a Laproscopy? I hope you are doing well now.
