- Robotic coronary bypass is a surgical procedure in which one or more blocked coronary arteries are bypassed by a blood vessel graft to restore normal blood flow to the heart. This procedure is performed without opening the chest with the assistance of a robot to help the surgeon maneuver inside the thorax.
Dr. Bonatti performed this procedure on me 12 years ago. I am eternally grateful to him & his team. The Cleveland Clinic is truly a marvel of modern medicine. I have never seen any organization operate with such efficiency and precision. #1 heart hospital in the world, for sure.
Thankfully my friend was the first to fall asleep at a sleepover, so I used this procedure, when he wakes up he will be so happy!

No robotic surgery for me. Navigation is fine but i won't NO robot gonna touch my body. The human body is no computer game and wjhat happens when this piece of shit malfunctions? "Sorry, the robot was out of control so you've lost your life...not my fault". I'm an engineer and i know what could happen to machines even with the best safety rules. So dump this shit and relearn to operate yourself. Cause surgeons who are not capable of doing a surgery without a robot are no sugeons and they have to lost their prohibition
You have no idea what you are talking about... this is arthroscopic surgery, the kind of surgery that is performed thousands of times per day all across the world. This type of surgery is very safe and has saved thousands of lives, including my own. The device used, the DaVinci Machine, is a tool... an extension of the surgeons hands. It is not a "robot", it does not have a mind of its' own or utilize AI at all. Is any kind of surgery 100% safe? Of course not. I for one am grateful that I didn't need to have my chest cracked open (which is dangerous in itself) to get my bypass... I was back to normal activity just 3 weeks after, and I don't have a "zipper" running from my neck to my navel. Criticize all you want... I know better.
Robotic surgery can allow surgeons to make small incisions so, less organs are affected after surgery and it makes for a shorter recovery period. Also, robots for surgery are thoroughly tested for accuracy, precision and malfunctions so don't worry bout it
