  • An uneven jaw can lead to both physical and emotional suffering. Don't live with it any longer with this exercise. Make sure to do it slowly and with a lot of control. It clicks when closing my mouth but when I open it, it stucks and I need to move my jaw to left first before opening my mouth to loosen the stuck.. But when I close my mouth again then it clicks again and stuck when I open my mouth again, and I need to move my jaw to left again before opening it to loosen the stuck but it doesn't hurt much... Already 1 year since I got this and I don't know why and how.. but I got this when I just woke up one day.. Am I the only one?

    Didn't fix it completely, still popping. But DEFINITELY helped. Wow, thank you so much. My jaw popped out of place earlier today and has been popping like CRAZY ever since. I did this and it popped a few times and hurt so bad, but I went through the pain and the popping started to subside and I can move my jaw a lot more freely now. I will take a break and continue tomorrow morning with these excersises.

    I got TMJ from grinding my teeth in my sleep at night. A dentist made me a mouth guard. I wore it every night. 3-4 years later it wore out. I never needed another one. Football mouth guards would work but make sure it fits snug. I still hear vague "crunching" but it no longer gets 'stuck'.

I mean do these exercises should just reduce the pain or make the clicking gone? Please help, I have other problem. It IS clicking but WITHOUT PAIN. Is it normal? I can open my mouth 1cm straight down without it popping then anything after that is a loud pop and it happens every word I say, thing I eat, EVERYTHING. And occasionally i will try to open my mouth and it gets stuck where I can’t open it at all past 1cm. Also I have really bad headaches pretty much daily and my back has been killing me lately. Also my ear is really stuffy and hurts a lot sometimes. Also I have braces at the moment and idk if that helps or hurts anything but the popping started about 6 months ago when I opened my mouth funny and it hurt SOOOOOOOOOOO bad and from them on it’s clicked and then progressed to the locking here lately. 😭

    My bite is slightly off centre and always has been. It’s how my teeth lock together and feel comfortable in that position but as I’m getting older I feel like it’s becoming noticeable that my jaw is off to the left. I try to counteract it by forcing my jaw in the opposite direction but the truth is surgery is the only answer!

    • @Reii11
      @Reii11 2 года назад

      DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT CONSIDER SURGERY UNTIL ALL OTHER AVENUES HAVE BEEN EXHAUSTED; it often causes more problems than it solves. There are many, many conservative treatments to try, with proven track records, before resorting to something as drastic as surgery.

    Couldn’t eat tonight. My jaw kept wanting to dislocate every time I tried to chew. Horrible feeling. I felt it down in my lower jaw. Is that considered clicking or is that a sign that it will dislocate? It clicks but feels like it’s going off track. My mouth wasn’t open very wide.

    You said find a good therapist to manually put your joint back into place... what kind of therapist should I look for? I have suffered with TMJ for many years and went through three years of extensive treatment under a dentist, had a deviated septum surgery, been to a neurologist, physical therapists, chiropractors and trigger point therapists countless times, but my jaw is still in the same condition. My dentist says my disk is out of place. I don't know what else to try but I'm in so much pain all through my face, neck and shoulders that sometimes I could almost vomit. Pain killers help but I don't want to just pop pills every day...Please advise me!

    Mine only clicks (no pain) when I move my jaw extensively to the right side. I have a jaw deviation from sucking my thumb from ages 0-3 as I was a premature baby. It’s totally fine. Your ortho will say jaw surgery but you don’t need it, it won’t hold you back health wise if you have a TMJ or a deviation.

    • @maxmillman9477
      @maxmillman9477 2 года назад

      Actually TMJ problems range from mild, painless clicking to excruciating pain, inability to chew, jaw dislocations, jaw getting locked closed or open, as well as nerve damage and permanent disability.
      Clicking is not optimal, it is the sound of the discs inside your TMJ joints getting stuck then snapping as they release, which can and often does wear them down over time. It means that your TMJ joints aren't operating in unison as they're supposed to- they are operating unilaterally (one is opening/closing before the other).
      Surgery is also very ineffective ,statistically speaking, at treating this condition, particularly when compared with other methods, and is to be avoided unless absolutely necessary and all other conservative avenues have been exhausted.
      Braces often make things worse too.
      TMJ clicking can also be indicative of Bruxism, or grinding of the teeth during sleep, which can cause pain, damage teeth, jaw tendons, and the TMJ joints themselves.
      If it's painless then it's probably best to leave it alone (don't fix what isn't broken), as the risks of many treatments outweigh the reward of simply removing painless clicking/potentially extending the life of the joints long term.
      However PT may be considered- if the clicking improves, then great. If not, one may simply need to accept that their physiology isn't optimal and be grateful that they are not suffering pain or impairment as a result.

    My jaw has been messed up for years, I thought it was normal. I grind my teeth on an almost regular basis and often wake up with incredibly sore jaws, its starting to stop being sore but now it's locking harder and it's really freaking scary, it pops every single way I move it and I can't brush my tongue sometimes because my mouth won't open that wide. I talked about it with my dentist and he said the only way the fix it is with a night mouth guard but then he said I'm not old enough for one?? And that I might swallow it at night. Hi,It means that you are developing the TMJ disorder,What you should do now is to prevent your mouth from opening wide when you need to yawn and when you know that you are going to yawn then just put your fist down your chin and don't let your mouth open wide,What it will do is that it will not let your disk in the joint get dislocated.I would recommend you to know about relaxation methods and improving your posture at all times along with a healthy diet.Have a good day

    If you have issues with your TMJ, your jaws aren't alligned properly. Your teeth have probably been positioned incorrectly in order for correct function... Either naturally or by retractive/extractions orthodontics. It amazes me how many orthodontics don't take the function of the jaws into consideration when "straightening" teeth.

    When I open my mouth my jaw automatically moves to right a slight amount. There is no pain. I don't have TMJ but the popping won't stop.

      How is it now? Jaw deviation and clicking/popping are signs of TMJ, but mild TMJ doesn't necessarily require treatment.

    It doesn’t pop out of place it just feels weird on my left side and I have muscle control of it I think and it pops and goes sideways and goes back to not normal and I think it was caused by when I saw a cow how it ate food and I just mimicked it for a long time.

    I think ive definitely developed a problem with my jaw over the years. slowly but surely, im uncertain if this can only be fixed with surgery or not..what sort of a doctor really is an expertese on this ? im not in the US if that makes a difference, Norway

      Our doctor practices functional manual therapy along with many other schools of thought to create his very own approach to complex issues such as TMJ. Keep in mind that there are only about 250 functional manual therapists in the world (Dr. Lin of Tustin, California, USA being one of them). Hope this answers your question!

    I don’t think mine is tmj... at the first month of having it I had the clicking sound and everything tmj has but then now I don’t have clicking or popping it just hurts and I can open my jaw well sometimes but then sometimes I can’t and sometimes I do a jaw position that makes it crack...like it’s a crack not a pop or click or it doesn’t get stuck like it used to...It hurts, and my face is asymmetrical since I had it. I’m worried that I broke my jaw or something :(

    Mine feels like a knife going in my jaw when I chew. All the other times it feels like a rubber band snapping over my jaw. All is in the down bite on my left side. 5 months now. Been to my own chiro multiple times. What a depressing mess of a life. Nothing works. I’m wondering if I broke my jaw. Ugh.
