Also to me Lincoln is the greatest president ever, not even for the abolition just how he conducted himself and how he negotiated and ran the office when you research it then you watch this movie and say "yeah, he's the GOAT" and no one has ever argued me on that opinion because it's hard to do I guess but I think it's true, he's the greatest, oh and excuse my language but f&ck Booth. Lincoln the movie is an absolute masterpiece. I always wondered what Lincoln's voice sounded like and Daniel Day Lewis's version seems spot on. There are times when Lincoln yells, talks softly, and talks softly yet sternly and Daniel nails it.

Light in action and audio but in a greater sense, it is truly one of the greatest movie ever made. Lincoln was truly there in person; culled from the many books that we have ever read or visualize of the person. Some critique you may wish to land on this, but we all see without any shadow of doubt; the genius of Steven Spielberg.

President Lincoln was the epitome of leadership, no he did not fight in a singular battle, his words and spirituality was at every skirmish and battle. The future of our country rests upon his shoulders. Once he had Grant at the helm, I feel a portion of that great weight was taken from His shoulders, knowing Grant could lead the military to sure victory.
What we need now is a leader to emerge that will decide with equity and fairness to ALL. To decide what this most grand country will do in our future.
We can not allow the lives and sacrifices that we're Lain upon the alter of freedom to be put asunder by petty issues.
I was an American fighting soldier, my blood stained the lands of 3 different countries, but I still came back more of a citizen and man when I stepped foot back into this free and prosperous country. Let us step forward together for the good of all of us and not be so divided.
Other countries look towards the United States as a lighthouse to guide humanity in what is best for the people of the planet we call earth.

I studied history and literature at VCU in Richmond, Virginia and lived there for the years and no city has the ghosts and aura of the Civil War and the time of Lincoln and Jefferson Davis and the old South like Richmond....a hauntingly beautiful city...i.miss it.

Daniel Day-Lewis became Lincoln. Tommy Lee Jones became Tommy Lee Jones in a wig.

It's a good performance of what we think Lincoln might've been like.

I loved the movie but my only critism was that everyone treated him like the legendary figure he is today. Usually people become legenday figures after they're dead or certainly years after the events. I'm not convinced he'd have been seen like that at the time by the people around him..

Lincoln was disliked by a majority of Americans on both sides during the Civil war. He got less than 40% of the vote in 1860 and only 55% in the Union states in 1864. The war killed 1 in 10 adults and millions more were crippled and malnourished and property losses were unimaginable. It would be impossible for anyone to have made a bigger mess of things.

Those who were closest to him knew he was something special but didn't always understand his methods. Today's press would rip him to pieces.

@@oldcountryman2795 the mess was made before he became president. Interesting comment though. Didn't know those numbers before.

Epic, Epic piece. I'm from Virginia. Her beauty is unmatched by any state, any country on earth. I thank the lord that I'm a free man living in this country.
I just hope and pray Biden/Harris doesn't destroy her.

Arguably a fascinating story to tell - if not just as good as DKG book - would be Ted Widmer's "Lincoln on the Verge." Magnificent storytelling with a fresh angle on the ever fascinating Lincoln pre-presidency..

👩🏻‍💻I have watched this brilliant movie a dozen times or more. Each time I learn something new and how important all the events of the American Civil War were to the United States today. I feel a spiritual kinship to those who worked and sacrificed to be true to the Founding Fathers and their vision, 88 years previous. This movie makes it important to be loyal and true for all people to experience the freedoms and liberties necessary for a provident life, and the United States being that example and provider of such God given and protected blessings and opportunities for everyone on this Earth. Much love and peace. 🙋‍♀️🪔🌠🐞🥰&♎🇺🇲🇬🇧
