Yes me! I play this song in my car a lot.
Here!! 😅
It’s 2024 and I’m still listening to this amazing song. Wasn’t 80s dancing just great

Can't believe they're coming here this year. Just saw the Fixx last year, can't wait for this one. Holy memories, batman .
Anyone listening in 2024 to one of the very best songs and bands from the 80’s ? !
Their concert in Amsterdam was awesome..!!
Yes and I’ll be seeing them in Philly this fall
Me and not to make anybody jealous I am going to be seeing them live on Saturday 20th April woohoo cannot wait. This is the second time seeing them live.
@@bronwinswartz1112awesome..!!
I just had to make a little detour from the present & go back to when we were all glorious young fools who never left the dancefloor. Long live the 80s.
Who is listening to this track in 2024 ❤
I am and it makes me wanna cry
2054 also...if I am still here..
I first heard of it today and I downloaded it same time... I fell in love with it immediately after hearing...
I'm leaving this comment here by the way so that when someone like it I will then go back and listen to it... ❤
just wondered if you were around in the 80s when this first came out, omd made some great songs and you should check out them out as well❤❤❤
For me, one of the most underrated pop tunes of the 80s. If you can, get some headphones and listen to the highest quality version you can find. The engineering and mastering on this track is epic.
............ ABSOLUTELY, Todays CRAP that's called MUSIC would NEVER COME CLOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You hit the nail on the head 👍
100% I agree and I've just have!
Listening now, close your eyes and it takes you back to a moment in time with friends you grew up with.
i remember it was played very often in radio at that time ^^
Absolute masterpiece! This song will never age.
A song heard in my childhood and now after decades by accident found it again. Great group. What good times back then ... Who else agrees??
I totally agree with you! ❤️
That's the exact way this happened with me, although I may have been in my early 20s when I first heard it!
Nothing is by accident 👍🏻😉
@@johnallred9842 I was 11 years old in 1986
For sure
A superb, unrecognised 80's hit that never gets airtime. My 16 year old loves it because of how many times he's heard it. And he agrees modern music is rubbish !!
OMD, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, New Order....those were the days!
You are so right there. THE 80'S were the days of great music.
early mid 80s were best
I Love Erasure
So true.....
depeche mode
The 80s were the absolute best years for music,so many of the songs from that era are bring sampled in songs now.
40 years later , here we are still listening to the best music.
What a song
RIGHT ON!!!! 80s were the BEST!!!❤❤😁
40 years!!! I’m old

Holy shit this comment made me feel really old!
One of the forgotten masterpieces of the 80's. The music starts and I am immediately back there !
me too
I had to go look up omd again...my teenage years😂
One of the greatest songs ever
Why is this stuff so much better than 2020 music? They actually have talent!
OMD has still talent allright. In 2019 a friend of mine went on the ferry IJmuiden-Newcastle just for the concert on board of.....OMD. The singer really sang well and every touch of the keyboard was real. So no playback/ lipsync.
@A&R McChargues If I was being generous, I'd say it's because there's more been more and more music released over the years, it's now harder to create something different, so everything feels similar.
If I was being realistic, it's because it's much easier to make 'music' these days, so 'artists' have become lazy and just chuck anything out there that is deemed catchy. They let the machines do the work, instead of doing the work themselves and the charts are then deluged with sound-a-like songs and singers.
There are exceptions to this of course but you have to go looking for them, instead of them being presented to you.
You're missing out. Heaps of great music still being created.
A&R McChargues
I remember this.
Yes this music is good
@@lwaves Yep. Now many people can afford recording equipment and the market is saturated. Plus, record companies are more concerned about marketing images and making money than they are concerned about the quality of music they are putting out. They figure the general public will gobble it up and they are mostly right about it.
Only number 11 in the UK charts.. should’ve been top 3 if not number 1, fantastic harmonies and melodies.. very underrated track...
Stiff competition back then.

IMO this should certainly have made the Top 10.
Far too many competition all around in the 80s in 85 and in 86 when this cameout too many Artist's were on fire so many wonderful songs to boot were released it charted when it did or could high and low don't matter even in 87 it was crazy after all it's the 80s u had the jackpot pinnacle anyway with class scale league another dimension world we were living that's why we can comment that now
If You Leave just before this was their biggest hit got to 4 in the US Charts tough competition even they from the UK even 4 i like this one better but it made 19 doesn't matter plenty of great songs from cool musicians don't necessarily chart maybe different in parts of the World
People can say the music i love is old, but if i turn it up loud enough i dont have to hear what they have to say. I love it to this day.
Absolutely with you, don't care what people think this era was amazing and I was born 67. Nothing will come close to the 80's
I always put the volume setting up that bit extra for this, and indeed for a lot of OMD's music.
Good for you! Can you believe we're still listening to such awesome music?
This has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever. I'm so happy I grew among such music. Nothing shall ever compare to the 80's. It's the whole energy and nostalgia of a future everyone thought would be great. Turned out to be the opposite.
Each decade produced some truly breathtaking music but I agree that the 80's had an overabundance of amazing ch00nZ.
This being one of them.
I actually "rediscovered" this track when moving a truck late last night (i'm a shunter now so rarely get to listen to the radio properly) and this was playing on Absolute 80's.
I thought "I remember that track" and made a mental note to buy it when I awakened this morning.
Imagine my delight when I discovered I already had it on my Best of OMD Cd that I hadn't even broken the seal wrapping on. (How many years have I had that CD ?)
Yes I have umpteen "Unwrapped CD's" And a Humongous box of Vinyl in the loft (Nowhere to site a turntable anymore)
We have made our own Future with such sounds I think. Love to sing harmonies to this X
Amen to that ❤
I want to go and live back again in 80's for ever no return

My favorite OMD song.
Don't know why this one didn't soar to the top of the charts like "If You Leave". In 86 I remember seeing the video once and hearing the song once. I loved it but I guess most others didn't.
@@switch2kryptonite OMD at that time was losing their spirit, soon their career crushed. It was a good but too poppy song, they (and also I) prefered more experimental ones, like the jewels of their three or four first LP'S: Electricity, Enola Gay, Messages, Secret, Telegraph, Genetic Engineering, Almost, and so on...
Me too. It's a masterpiece

Too bad...
@@jrmg33 There's not much that OMD did that didn't move me. Enola Gay probably ranks among my favorites. Their first several years though are among my favorites.

So I did what any rational child of the 80's would do, I listened to some OMD.
This song is a masterpiece 💜
This is an English band surfaced from Merseyside back in the heydays of British pop music in 1978, mostly underrated. Their music resonates the melancholic nostalgia of unparalleled pop & soul era of ‘80s. I wish there were new generations trying to recreate music with similar melodies.❤
This song is absolute perfection! The melody, the harmonies, the super catchy "I never know, I never know..." in the chorus. Love it! Paul Humphreys has such a sweet, lovely, gentle voice. He wrote this song about missing his wife when she had to go back to America. 💖
De acuerdo con usted, realmente no conocía el contexto de la letra.Muchas gracias.

Agreed!
I'm old enough to remember when this song was new, and on the radio. I bough this on cassette tape and played it over and over again on my walkman. This song brings back memories of my childhood and teen years. OMD is, and was very underrated. This song touched my soul like few other bands did. Thank you.

I remember when I first heard this song in the autumn of 1986. I was captured by the hautingly beautiful harmonies and the lyrics. When I hear it, I am always transported back to my teenage years. OMD have written many other good songs but this one is my favourite.

And for those of you my age, my generation, tho we have never met, I miss you.

I'm 65yrs now, when I first heard this song around 1983 or 84, I was taken by the combination of vocals and instrumentals that after the song was over on the radio, I never found out the name of the band who wrote it and never heard that song again until..fast forward to 2018, I was driving and skipping radio stations when I caught the tail end of this song....I quickly pulled over and had my Shazam app help me identify the name and group...

No internet, No cell phones, and no 24 hr news. A time where you could be yourself, make mistakes and live another day.

a classis 80's🎶💕💃
I was listening to this in my car. It was on repeat for two hours and I never got sick of it. Love this song. It’s now 2021 and music is crap in comparison. Too many singers but not enough musicians. No one knows music anymore, how to play an instrument, how to write music. I miss humming tunes to myself. Music today is shit and I feel sorry for the new generation who never experienced the 80s
Maybe it's because I've been primarily tuned into what's considered the alternative scene for more of my life at this point than I have been to what's accepted in more recent years as what (depressingly) passes for mainstream pop, but good music still does exist. I'd argue that the Post-Punk, Synthwave and Goth genres are in pretty good hands, with a considerable number of current bands paying homage to who came before them through recognizable qualities of the past, as well as adding their own ingredients to create something is at least as good as, if not even better than what came before.
Unfortunately, it does require greater concerted personal efforts to find such examples than it did when many of us were adolescents/teens/young adults in the '80s, and we were surrounded by them through our locally-managed radio stations - those that were not just another holding of a multi-state conglomerate with AI automated programming and a very predictable, repetitive, and uninspired playlist.
I rarely if ever listen to the devolved state of commercial radio now, and have instead been listening primarily to the streams or archived programs of College/independent, free-form public-supported radio stations, niche music podcasts from various individuals, and plenty of virtual crate digging on RUclips, Bandcamp, Discogs, and the like. I think it's safe to say that you may find some new discoveries through those means.
I listened to it nonstop and introduced it to my fiancee and are in our mid50s now reminding me of Radio5's top 40hits back in the days of my youth in township Atteridgeville South Africa
Loved the 80s, loved OMD and this song, brings back so many amazing memories and so much joy it brings, remembering dancing to it, listening in the car or just hanging out with friends and enjoying that time and the music that came with that time period.
The eighties cannot be beat for sheer volume of great songs. This band had many of them.
