It has a kind of nursery-rhyme quality to it...both the music (with that funky piano riff) and the lyrics. He really sounds like he's inventing the lyrics just before singing them...very funny and irresistible song! 😄

Heard this on the radio the other day, for the first time in God knows how long. And what an absolutely fantastic song this is - and I didn't realise that 30+ years ago when I first heard it....
We are going next year to c them, Cambridge Corn Exchange 7th November 2021, got the tickets yesterday! Cannot wait, I will be dancing in my wheelchair while the wife goes mental!
OMD are an amazing band. All Their songs sound so different, and cover such a vast array of subjects. They're very clever with their use of musical technology. One of my first ever singles was Joan of Arc, then Enola Gay was massive with the crowd I hung around with. Casio had just come out with the PC 10 and we all loved playing it or in some cases trying to play it. From seven seas to Pandora's box to walking on the milky way they have made a considerable contribution to pop music and popular culture, sadly not given enough credit. They are a band of true genius.
Could'nt agree with you more Jack. Loved them from the very first time i heard them, so disappointed i didnt get the chance to see them live here in Australia. I think they only came over here once or twice.Never get sick of their music.Cheers mate.
Also wir "kinder" die die musik der 70er 80er und 90er voll mitbekommen habe (BJ 1966) haben echt Glück gehabt. Tolle Musik / Bands damals. OMD war grandios
😊love this tune😊 reminds me of my 21st birthday 😅...1991ish another hot summer in UK ... Everyone dancing to The Prodigy and The Shaman. 😅 Acid house was here.....One rave to the next brilliant times. Britain was booming and so was the music 🎶🎵🎵
Reminds me of May 1991, I'd been away for two weeks and upon my return found that my Dad had bought 'Sky TV' - prior to that we only had 4 channels on British television, 5 if you could speak Welsh (S4C) - all of a sudden we had the amazing MTV Europe and this song and REM's 'Losing my Religion' were played daily... still love them both now
Definitely a generational breakthrough - we got MTV Europe about the same time, at home in Northern Germany, and suddenly youth pop culture (at least from the Western part of the world) was no longer hidden behind a barrier. It definitely made me a TV addict!
OMD's musical legacy is one of the finest and most varied in existence. An ultra-smart yet accessible music crafted to last until the Sun turns nova. 👍
Takes me back to when I was 19 years old, dancing to this song in the disco, absolutely love this song. If only we could go back to the days of our youth.😊❤
This song makes me think of my last year in school and the first weeks of A levels at Bracknell College. Mum and Dad still alive and everything great. I love that songs like this can bring back such sweet memories.
I remembger catching this on MTV at the time, a very funny track! The lyrics are beautifully whimsical: "Sister Ray is on TV" etc (most unexpected Lou Reed allusion ever)
This video and this song could still be released TODAY!!! It still sounds and looks SO modern!!! Incredibly A M A Z I N G !!! Now THAT's what a TOP-QUALITY song and video are all about !!!
I am 57 years old now and still love OMD (not the newest releases). I stll remember that OMD was the only band I loved that my father became totally crazy about. I could turn on any other greath 80's band and he hated it, but OMD made him starting a party and a dance when ever he heard OMD.
