After living through the 1980's as a kid it was the best times of my life. Now that I'm 55 it REALLY touches you how beautiful the music was. The 80's music will ALWAYS touch my heart.

Omd probably one of the most underrated bands of the 80s by those who didn't appreciate great music by great musicians that is... Omd were ahead of their time..
Brilliant video. Such a haunting, ethereal, melody … people slagged the bands off back then. But the more people got older, stepped back and evaluated things with the passage of time, opinions changed and memories became warmer.
In 1980 I was 14, and am so grateful that I was able to live my youth through that decade, when music was music, and OMD were there to bring joy to your ears and lives. The 80s were definitely a time to be enjoyed. So many great groups, artists, singers, dancers, discos, clubs, etc. When I hear music from that era, it puts a smile on my face, and you know that it will always stand the test of time. So glad I was born in the mid 60s.

Haha. I'm 58 and this song blew me away as a 19 year old in New Zealand. I think we were fortunate to live during the 80s and appreciate what it has given us.

@Maad Wunz The drumming at the start is a bit similar. I used to think OMD played lovely music but their lyrics were a bit twee in comparison to Joy Division. Mind you not too many indie bands were as dark as Joy Division.
It’s a pity that the video is set up so eloquently and historically correct but the chess players are playing with the board the wrong way round. (White square right corner).
We loved the 80s, growing up and enjoying life in the 80s and we loved OMD. It was the best era in music and entertainment in general. As a child of the 70's and 80's I grew up with this music! Once upon a time, there used to be real music and great songs like this one. Now we have stupid lyrics, ganster-like, in which if you don't swear, if you don't mention cheating, being a "bad-ass" or anything like it, then you are none. Stupid times we are living, hey. God bless Jeanne D'Arc, if I ever come back to France, I'll visit your grave. Thank you OMD for the wonderful music and to my brother for making me listen to it!
@@misscristinatheteacher5068 Your brother had wonderful taste in music. OMD have so many fantastic songs, it is amazing that they were so underrated. I'm in Australia, and they are meant to be coming out late this year or early next year to support Simple Minds. I seen them in 1983 in Queensland. This bloody covid might have a say in it though.
@@misscristinatheteacher5068 Yeah pretty good thanks. I haven't missed a days work. Our state of Victoria, has had a bad run with the virus, we are in lockdown. But it looks like it's getting better, so fingers crossed. How is it in Thailand?
Kudos to the director Steve Barron for this superlative MTV. Great storytelling that truly gives credibility and presence to this most wonderful OMD track.
Spooky. I can remember the exact same thing when I first heard Oxygene part IV on my dad's car stereo when I was 6. I thanked my dad for introducing me to Jean Michael Jarre. Sounds like you feel the same way about this. Gives me goosebumps too by the way, there's just something about this record.
The UK 80's chart will be forever legendary -- If you were there you will understand perfectly why that is. I'll never get over my youth; nor do I ever want to. Listening 15/7/24... will keep listening as long as I draw breath. I turned 17 in '80 - How lucky can you be. 🙂😊
Magnificent iconic 80's tune that still sounds fantastic four decades on. One of the tracks I will be listening to regularly for the rest of my days. Superb.
I'm so glad that I was old enough to be living through this music when it was brand new, as a teen. Back in the days when we had cassette tapes, boom boxes, walkmans and parachute pants.
Wow!! Saw them last night in Manchester... they were absolutely superb! It took me four decades to see my favourite '80s band - so glad I finally got there :)
Glad you got to see them,I’m the same 40 years on and finally going to see them in march next year.👏👏👏🙏🙏
My favourite song of all times. Gives me chills every time I hear it.
Dont cry Miss Laurie
Another brilliant song from this totally underrated duo.
My late father loved this and used to whistle all the way through. Brings tears to my eyes.
I was 10 when these came out. Loved it then, still love it now. OMD were way ahead of their time. Thanks for the great memories - and the ability to play this for the next 40 years.
Well said!
@@anthonytesta5964 thank you, it is true, right? As a teacher I find it really hard
@@anthonytesta5964 greetings to you from Thailand, I've been here since the covid started messing with our lives. How are you getting on?
@@misscristinatheteacher5068 Yeah pretty good thanks. I haven't missed a days work. Our state of Victoria, has had a bad run with the virus, we are in lockdown. But it looks like it's getting better, so fingers crossed. How is it in Thailand?
THIS tune commands respect!! Beyond beautiful!
Kudos to the director Steve Barron for this superlative MTV. Great storytelling that truly gives credibility and presence to this most wonderful OMD track.
gluckwunse und vielen jaren, if my never learnd germans said it right..

I remember hearing this song in my father's car at the age of 10. Now, 34 years later, it keeps giving me goosebumps.
the 80s can only exist now in memory.
Spooky. I can remember the exact same thing when I first heard Oxygene part IV on my dad's car stereo when I was 6. I thanked my dad for introducing me to Jean Michael Jarre. Sounds like you feel the same way about this. Gives me goosebumps too by the way, there's just something about this record.
@@terrycharnley Great times Terry! I love "Oxygene part IV" too.
Gänsehaut-Feeling
Einmalig schön.bin großer Fan von Euch ❤❤❤
The UK 80's chart will be forever legendary -- If you were there you will understand perfectly why that is. I'll never get over my youth; nor do I ever want to. Listening 15/7/24... will keep listening as long as I draw breath. I turned 17 in '80 - How lucky can you be. 🙂😊
Great words
“To such as me,
Who longs to see how an angel ought to be”😎
Tolle Melodie, die sehr schöne Erinnerungen weckt.
This song becomes ever more beautiful each time I hear it. My favourite 80's band -- OMD. Pure class!
What an amazing song, love these drums, vocals and the atmosphere of the song. Great video too. The 80’s were one of a kind
Omg one of the greatest hits of the 80s absolutely brilliant song🖒

Its even better live

An absolute work of art. Simple and class. A masterpiece. This is why this great era for music will never bow out. Forever trapped!
I'm a tough guy, but, genuinely,i feel like crying when i hear this. Reminds me of good times long ago. Times not so good for me now. life sucks.
OMG.Wspaniały zespół ♥️.I moja pierwsza kaseta właśnie z OMD.Muza lat 80-tych The best
Meine erste Single. Danke OMD für 40 Jahre Gänsehaut.
Magnificent iconic 80's tune that still sounds fantastic four decades on. One of the tracks I will be listening to regularly for the rest of my days. Superb.
Dla mnie najpiękniejszy utwór OMD ;)
You just cannot beat 80’s music.
TAK!! absolutna racja💪

The Best 80s
You can with 70s music! But this was an exception. Great.

I'm so glad that I was old enough to be living through this music when it was brand new, as a teen. Back in the days when we had cassette tapes, boom boxes, walkmans and parachute pants. I amassed a small collection about 200 CD's and 80 or so cassettes and only recently lost it in a repossessed storage unit.
What a brilliant song by a brilliant band. The album this great song is off of was voted one of the best albums of that year.
The jewel in the '80's crown. Magnificent song.
My daughter will be 35 years old this year (2019). It was this music and era that produced her! Thank you OMD, Ultravox, Classix Neauvoux, and the rest!
Surely, one of the best and most under-rated British bands, of the last 40 odd years.
I've loved them since 1980. ❤
I've loved them since hearing 'Electricity' as a 15-yr-old girl in '79 :)
Nice to see Brenda not moaning at Neville about bathroom tiles... 🤣.
This will ALWAYS be my favourite song from my teenage years. Thank You 💖💖💖💖
I was brought up with Rock and Roll, but I just can’t get OMD out of my head. A brilliant Band best of all time. I’m 80 now. Regards from Ron.
