43 years old but still gold... man I love 80s music ❤
Can't believe it's 43 years ago! Where has time gone? Seems like yesterday, Unbelievable...🤔

Where has it gone?

So I’m now 29 and just now heard this absolute banger of a song. This came out before I was born but I’m jamming here in 2023. Amazing music. I wish I grew up in these times. Thank you for this great song
🎉 cool!
Loved this song in the 90‘s… now i‘m 47… 🫢
they're on tour early next year; tickets are on sale tomorrow (22nd Sept). Got mine in the pre-sale. :)
The 80's were an outstanding time to grow up in.
Don't stop with this song, check out their whole collection. I have just started my second. Had the last collection stolen. AWESOME!
They sounded so 80s before the 80s had even started. Good tune.
They followed on from Kraftwerk.
Like Gary Numan ...ahead of the times
in music, the 80s started in 1978-79, and ended in 1988.
it was the promise of a new era. it was the hope of a future made of progress.
@@Citadin Beautiful times. I was still in college, in MS. Never forget those parties & great times in New Orleans. Forever engraved...

I grew up in the 80’s!! I’m my 50’s now (I look younger lol) but man I never thought the 80’s would be missed
One of the most amazing, fast paced and brilliant songs. Loved it from the first notes and loved it through time. Music of the 80s was amazing, timeless, ageless, but this song goes up to there to the top with all the uplifting and amazing, danceable songs that make you have fun and move to the music. So many incredible memories it brings.
@James Hodson Oh, that's amazing. Never seen them in concerts, but must have been an incredible show I am sure.
@James Hodson hahaha, same, had long hair shaved on the sides, that was back in the 80s as well, just turned 57 and still feel the same when I hear this music. Pleasure to meet you James. - Jake.
@James Hodson :) :) Same, same, we have been to many Rush concerts and once to AC/DC, enjoyed my very fist concert Styx, and then got into sympth 80s music, new wave and loved it all through the end of 80s and even now. Love all kinds of music and still listen to most of it. Even went to Rush concert before Neil Peart passed. Still put on an incredible show, as they have before. Saw Depeche mode as well about 15 years ago.
@James Hodson Nice, yeh, we saw Rush about 4 or 5 times and AC / DC in the MSG, great show. Saw Depeche Mode more than I can count, once in Radio City Music Hall. Amazing show, because we were very close to the stage on that one. Latest saw Depeche Mode some years ago, recently on Jones Beach. Very nice show and was so nostalgic.
Haha jij bent echt een ouwe zak
this songs makes me feel incredibly nostalgic...it brings me back so many memories, but mostly feelings. it's incredible how a single piece of music can make you feel things all over again.
Incredible 80's!!! Everything was possible and the sound of mythics bands was so beautiful 😀🙏❤️

British music 🇬🇧 surely some of the very best...
Hmm, second place after Germany. Just one word: Kraftwerk!
@christiannitzsche5364 oh yes absolutely ❤😍🔝
Fun fact: most of the instrumets on this track are from the 60's: a Vox Jaguar organ, a Fender Jazz bass and a Selmer Pianotron electric piano (aka Weltmeister Claviset) playing the main melody. The other ones are the synth drums and Korg synth lead in the bridge, wich give away the era in wich this tune was recorded (1979)
The Korg M-500 did the lead and the high hat was actually the Korg in white noise mode, as was the Pssh pssh sound at the start.
I have the same synth.
Actually you’re wrong about the bass. This version was recorded for their debut album which was released in 1980. In this version he plays a spray painted fender jazz bass but in the 1979 version he plays a left handed Wilson rapier bass.
Yeah, totally true. But applied in a veeeery 80' s approach.
@@LFOVCF..I love that I'm not the only one.
We could have had amazing music so much sooner lol
Released in 1979, 41 years ago, one of the best synth tracks definitely !

SO GOOD!
It's over 40 years old! 43 now. A timeless classic
Welcome to the fabulous OMD. Souvenir is my all time favourite song 😊 hardly any words just a fabulous tune.
Dig in to their early stuff ( All of it ) they were so far ahead of their time and don't sleep on the Junk Culture album either. This band paved the way for so many synth bands. Legendary band.
Its a sacrilege ! How dare you have not heard it before ?
Ooh the humanity !!!
there are maybe 50 songs from the same era that are as good, and another 100 that are almost as good. You're in for a treat.
They were from the legendary Eric's scene in Liverpool, 1977-1980. The scene that also produced Echo and the Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, The Mighty Wah, Holly Johnson (Frankie Goes to Hollywood), Pete Burns (Dead or Alive), Ian Broudie (Original Mirrors and later, The Lightning Seeds). And like all the great British scenes of that time, the spark that ignited it was the Sex Pistols.
You deserve a like for all that research
Spent many weekends in Erics late 70s onwards
It was rather like the Blitz kids in London, with Rusty Egan, Visage, Culture Club and Boy George, Midge Ure and Ultravox, Spandau Ballet...all inspired by a mix of Bowie and Kraftwerk...great times.
My mum knew Andy McCluskey. She was friends with a girl he used to date when they were in high school.
My mum didn’t expect his singing career to take off and was shocked when OMD started hitting the charts 😂
I just spent almost an hour looking for this song, only remembering the music and not the lyrics. I can die happy now lmao
I had the same problem when looking for " Curious Electric.", by Anderson and Vangelis.
Lmao i was searching for a song every since 2017 i found it a couple days ago
I just 6 hours singing the tune to everyone not knowing any of the words in hope of finding it, never felt so happy finally coming across it at last
Please do not be dead.. x
I had been searching for this since the early 1990s, where this was featured in a documentary about the Hungarian Civil Defense! Since then it crossed my path once in a documentary about mineral waters, still without a title/band name, but finally I got this ticked :) After 30 years... Thank you, Internet!
OMD, they are still OMG after all this time. Electricity. Don't you you just LOVE the old songs, especially when you can remember them in concert, way back wht.
J'étais une enfant lorsque j'ai eu le plaisir d'entendre à la radio pour la première fois Enola Gay et cette chanson. Je les aime toujours autant. Merci à Orchestral Manœuvres In The Dark.

This 45 is apparently quite rare. If you have it keep it.
I was a teen and I felt in love with OMD's "Enola Gay" song. So I bought the 45-rpm disk record.
I listened to it over and over without getting tired of it and without caring about side B song.
Finally one day I looked at side B whose title was "Electricity". The title looked mean and trivial but I listened to the song.
It was magic and wander. In my opinion this is the true masterpiece.
Love this song!!!.
