I am dealing with an overwhelming multi generational hoarding situation. This is the best advice. Even just saying, " ok 5 minutes" with this method, suddenly one small spot is clean. These videos are the only ones who have ever given real advice for people in that situation.

I totally agree. This has helped me so much when I was overwhelmed. I just took one small area and it was done.

I love these, seeing real people deal with their clutter is SO motivating, I cast this to my TV in my living room and totally got up and started dusting and tidying, going through mail, folding laundry, etc as you walk her through her own items.

I think the no mess method is very appealing for people with little time to declutter or for people like me. I have good intentions but sometimes my health dictates otherwise. I could intend to work for an hour but halfway through I might not feel well or have no energy left. This way you’re not left with a big mess.

I recently decided to do a One Hour Better project. Set the timer. Took care of trash, easy stuff, duh donations, and felt like it had been very close to an hour. Nope. 48 minutes left! Back to the closet I was working in and did some more on those same steps - trash, easy stuff, duh donations. Checked the timer - still had 30 minutes left! I’m telling you - that hour was going very slowly, but boy did I get stuff done!!! Thank you for this approach to targeted areas. I. Love. It.

I've been binge watching all the "One Hour Better" videos over the past couple days, and they really inspired me! I decided to tackle our bathroom closet, which was getting hard to retrieve stuff from. I'm caring for my newborn, who can't be put down for very long before she starts crying, so I could only work in roughly five-minute increments, but because of the no-mess method, it worked fine! I spent the afternoon going back and forth from the baby to the closet, and got it all done! It's much more functional now, and I'm throwing out two plastic grocery bags full of trash and junk!

It’s fantastic to watch a real person dealing with a real situation. I liked seeing the actual length of time it took her to go to the barn and put something away in the place it lives. I too used to delay putting things where they lived because it seemed like such a long time in my brain but when I measured the actual minutes on my iPhone I was shocked that it was really a very short time in reality. I learned so much watching the video.

I truly enjoy these sort of decluttering videos. It's helped me tackle a small space at a time. Yesterday I sorted and better stored wrapping paper, and gift bags, and I am getting over covid! But it was something I could do! Clothing, I'm at a stand still, half done. Hang up? Facing trying clothes on, plus the price and quality I face making decisions about. At 77, facing style changes, too. A video on such stumbling blocks, so appreciated now. Thank you.

This really speaks to me. I need to believe that 20 minutes will be productive. I get that chipping away is progress. I just have had so many instances that I start and can't get back to it for months. It is my way of thinking---the "once I start this project it will take me a long long long time..." So, I don't start the project or I abandon the project due to life. I don't think of it as a little here a little there. I'd like to though. Thanks to lovely Dana and the lovely miniature horse owner.

I've been loving the process. My home is definitely improving! And this session was very motivating to continue! Good job, you guys! Also, I had to go to the hardware store for stuff to paint a bedroom. This means the bedroom is clear enough to paint!!!! And I was a little cautious going into the store because there could be lots of stuff bought and come into the house cluttering it up again. But I was very determined to stick to my minimal list of necessities only. It worked. No impulse buying happened because I was thinking about all the clear space beginning to happen at home!

Well done! It’s so cool to breakthrough the mental barrier of overwhelm and see progress. I’ve had to see my home in a whole new light now it’s all mine and setting up new spaces and storage has been a bit stressful as I wouldn’t have looked for stuff in the new spaces in the past. I’m using rooms differently and Dana’s method has taken out a lot of the overwhelm. It’s been a sanity saver when I’ve cleared a room to renovate and have had to ask myself where would I look for it first while it’s temporarily relocated. ❤

Yesterday I decluttered under my bathroom sink which has needed doing for some time. Everything went into 3 bins. That was my capacity. Today, wipe out the inside, put the bins in and it will be finished. It’s a to done for me!

I’ve been purging and decluttering for years maybe? And I feel like I’m finally making progress. I’m soon going to be helping my mom, who has inherited whole houses of stuff from at least 3 different households.
I see so many things I’ve struggled with, and my mom has too, in your videos.
Sometimes I just don’t know how to approach something in a “no mess way” (like the boxes of kids shoes I decluttered yesterday). But I have quickly found your method to be so easy for me to use, making little progress that adds up, rather than no progress!
