A few minutes in and I. Can already tell this is the kind of video I need and more of them please. Thank you for being you and not trying to be like anyone else. I desperately need this. I wish this was an understatement, but it’s not. I NEEED THIS!!!
I feel you, Friend -- I SOOOO need it, too. I mostly watch the vids to get inspired, but occasionally I actually do a tiny declutter before I give up and get sucked into something else.
They were gold, and for those of us who are used to looking for the editor's comments, we were not disappointed. Thank you for always keeping it real and funny! 😂
She already knew what to do. Dana, you being there just help to ease the emotion and indecision of going through those items. You gave her the common sense and empowerment to breeze right through that task. 💪🏻😁
I LOVE these videos - where you do REAL LIFE decluttering with others, going through the process. Thanks for sharing these great illustrations of your methods!
Amazing how helpful it is to have someone just constantly asking the same, simple questions! Great job! The end notes may have been better than Reed's, but don't tell him I said that! 🤣😂
Right after college and out on our own, I had several friends who would "just come over and talk" while I cleaned the kitchen, decluttered the closet, etc. etc. etc. (and I did the same for them). It's amazing how helpful that is. To have someone asking you Dana's five questions would just be icing on the cake.
I loved you asking where she would look for an empty container and thinking, "... yeah, I bet we haven't seen the last of that container." And I loved her finding the CDs and hearing you say, "... what about that container?" and sending her to get it - just to check. And I loved hearing her say multiple times, "I don't think the CDs will fit," and thinking, "Oh, they are SO going to fit," and giggling in delight as she Kept. Discovering. More. Empty. Ones. And I LOVED seeing the finished CD container in all its glory, and how thrilled she was with her space. This was such a good demonstration of the power of having a look (and WWILFTF, and TITN, the whole process.). Thank you!
Just decluttered the trunk of my car yesterday. The take it there now was key! I was left with enough motivation to vacuum the trunk and the interior of the car. Dana is a genius!
Wow, this was SO helpful to see someone actually going through their “doom closet”…I’m about to go look for trash and donations in MY doom closet now and see what happened 👀
The repurposing of the sentimental dog bowl was awesome. I've found a few sentimental items I could repurpose as "containers." Makes my day to see them!
The first video of yours that I ever watched was a "one hour better" video. I love them. I have applied the idea to my days when I do not go to work. I make my house one hour better. I use all of your concepts. One hour better has changed my house and simplified my life. Thank you. Now you know that you really can edit videos. The next one will be easier.
I hope you do more of these, if your clients don't mind! Enjoy your summer off, you did just fine editing, but I know you just want your son home again!
Watching you teaching decluttering is so interesting Dana because it’s like you’re talking to me in my own house. Your method works so well for people with our type of brains. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
"Experience the Memory" is a beautiful way to explain why some things just need to be kept. Of course, as long as everything fits in the container. Thanks for sharing. And enjoy your summer.
I share your unpopular opinion about pillows, Dana. I have zero decorative pillows in our house. They are just clutter to me. I don't even have one on our bed. Sleeping without a pillow really helped my back. I have one pillow stored away for guests, that's it.
That's really good if no cushions works for and it's good you are happy....I love cushions and pillows not particularly for decorative purposes but for comfort (and I like them to look nice) just goes to show how one size doesn't fit all 🙂🌸
I also don't sleep with a pillow but I have one on my sofa to put behind my back. Now, cat beds are a different story. I have 9 of those and only 2 cats!
Great video. Anyone who has a problem with this video because of the editing, which looks fine to me, is probably someone not yet able to appreciate what is really important here. You help so many people; God bless.
Woman who pushed herself to continue to push ourselves, despite not being perfect (and reminding us that it's ok): Dana ❤Well done you! You help me let go in more ways than one. Enjoy your summer by the pool.
In my opinion, this is THE VERY BEST video that you have put out. I'm sure that I will be watching it more than once when I get to our office closest. Our home is on the minimal side already, and I have been putting off the last closet for a long time. Thank you so much for what you have done for so many. You are my favorite RUclipsr.
See I would have said that space would take hours if not days, and that is the time unawareness that you have spoken about previously. No way that could only take an hour, but there is the proof, you can get so much done if you just start. That took an hour and some of that stuff was hard. Great video, great editing!
Kudos! I wish I could make the decisions as quickly as she did. She was so good at getting rid of things that she realized she wouldn't use. I still struggle with this.
AHHHHHHHHH! I love this video. It's just what I needed as I'm setting out to help a friend, who knows the process but still gets stuck like we do, declutter his office. YAY! This was so perfect and helpful. Her closet looks GREAT!
Awesome progress by your brave person :) Didn't catch her name. But thank you for letting us be part of this big accomplishment. And I agree that it's freeing to know that we can keep what we want to keep
Dana, You did a great job at editing. One of these days I may get someone to help me with my garage. I decluttered a bunch in there but it’s still over my threshold. Thanks for all you do.
Thank you for doing this. I worked on straightening things up and tidying while watching! Makes it go quicker and helps me think through things while I Declutter!
I'm gearing up to begin....no, FINISH decluttering the guest room in our home this weekend. I say "finish" because I've been using Dana's method and had a few short decluttering sessions in there....so it's better than it was and I didn't make it worse. Now to complete it, which I could've NEVER done in one day OR weekend. I think Dana's method is awesome!
I have still got so much more than what you worked on in this video, but I use your process and LOVE IT!!! You've made a huge difference in my life ❤❤❤
Just when I thought you couldn't get anything better...this popped up. There is nothing quite like seeing decluttering in action. So good, I'm going to attack a closet right now! Hope you do more like this. You even got the end credits in so I think Reid has taught you enough editing skills! (but I know you just want him home!!)❤❤
I like watching other people declutter with your guidance, because I learn so much and get ideas on how to declutter my own closets, drawers, boxes, and many bags of stuff.
I'll be using this method with my parents when I visit them next month - their kitchen (not to mention most of the rest of the house) is an absolute disaster (my mom's a bee who thinks everything should be out, and she's the one who cooks, and my dad's a cricket who leaves almost everything until "later" which means he leaves piles and piles on the table, often to the point that only one side of the table can be used for anything, and the table already only seats 5, and my sister, who I think may also be a bee but I don't know for sure, uses space on the table for her stuff, so when my dad's piles get really bad, the table literally only seats 1), so starting small with them is key: the only way we ever get the kitchen table cleared off is when I go through this process with them, but I'm only there a few times a year, so it always goes back to how it was before (or worse than it was, depending on how long it is between my trips there). My mom loves having a cleared off table because she loves having the work space for cooking, but she also wants everything out, so something's going to have to give on her part, because you just can't have both (she's convinced that remodeling the kitchen will be the solution - house was built in '64 - and while it might help some, the reality is she just has _waaay_ too much stuff).
I had weight loss surgery several months ago and have been losing a lot of weight, so I've been buying new clothes. I've been using the one-in-one-out principle to keep my closet under control. I have actually asked myself, "What item doesn't deserve to be in here, as much as this new shirt?" It's working great! My closet isn't getting overstuffed, as has happened in the past.
Great video. It's motivating me to do my closet. Give yourself more credit, you did great editing. We're always more critical of ourselves. Love the credits haha.
Thanks for doing this "Doom closet" video! You made it so simple that she didn't seem stressed out at all! I have the area under our basement stairs full of stuff. It's been there for 20 years... I only know of one thing that's buried in there. It's a bin of children's wooden blocks from my husband's childhood. Our kids didn't play with them much, so my grandkids probably wouldn't play with them either. Hmmm?
Dana--loved, loved, loved your virtual declutter session. [Love your eye makeup, too!] Though I've watched possibly all of your 'take it there' videos, it just 'clicked' today that you are not asking her right out, "Do you ever use that?" Instead you go slowly and let her make the decision. Coming to conclusions that things can 'go' if they are not something we would necessarily 'look for' again is SO freeing and makes the declutter process so much easier going forward with other spaces. Kudos to you! I always chuckle at your 'disclaimers' at the end; today was no exception. LOL
As a (budding) professional organizer myself, it's helpful to see another professional organizer and how they (you) interact with clients. Nice job and thanks for sharing :-)
This video is so helpful. I hope you'll do more like it. Your decluttering process works so well. We've been using the methods over the past months and made huge progress in our home and garage. Then my mother passed away a few weeks ago and I've had to clean out her place. If we hadn't of done all the decluttering, we'd of had to put the stuff in storage. But we had the space to put it, so now I'm going through it all, using your decluttering steps. I know I could not have done this without your methods. Thank you so much for sharing and teaching this process! It's made a huge difference in our lives.
Editing was great. As much as we love our children to death at some point they just may not be there. You did fabulous. Also the hands on help for this person was great as well. Keep doing what yo are doing. It helps a lot.
🌻🌝Hi Rayna, I don't know you but I (as a fellow de- clutterer:-) want to encourage you: Good Job on what you've done so far, & I encourage you to keep going!🌝 I myself just finished doing some important, much-needed cleaning/ decluttering in a section of a room, so I got on Dana's channel to try to get some encouragement/ motivation from like-minded people. I'm disappointed that Dana's latest video is not recent, but 2 months ago!! And there are hardly any RECENT comments, only yours & 1 or2 others. I almost feel like this is an abandoned channel, LOL.🤷♀️ Can you (Rayna) or anyone else recommend a similar channel I can go to for CURRENT videos & comments (to help keep me encouraged& motivated)?? Thanks.
Your Amazing Dana 💞 I love all your videos.. Im also a tidy collector, with stuff..Not trash or junk or empty food containers. But i do save for the rainy day and when it rains i still dont use it.. I save for other people but they never get it. Everything in our home needs a spot. So you know where to look for it when you need it.. I can put my hands on everything i need.. Put i do have the problem of saving it all. Your videos are very helpful in letting things, items go to Donate. Thankxx Dana 😘 Im working on it. 👌
While I was watching this I got inspired to go through my SHOES- I’m donating 3 pair of NEW SHOES that have been sitting on my shoe shelf for YEARS JUST GATHERING DUST🤦🏻♀️ THANK YOU DANA FOR THIS!!! I felt like you were talking to ME while watching this 🥰 I’m so thankful for you!!!
This was great, I love how you literally just asked the same questions you always do, but showed us how they apply to a real situation. The only thing I would add tot the “take it there now” thing is the donation items. As soon as she takes them out to her car she gets her guest room back, and it will be so much nicer!
I had a plastic Disney 101 dalmations Pongo and Perde plate from when my childen were young. I couldn't let it go it lived in my kitchen cabinets with my plates. I threw it out when I cleaned out my cabinet. I wanted to take it back from recycling but I finally let it go. The struggle is real.
The plastic tub without the lid reminded me of what I do with DVDs. I have no idea where they go but sometimes we find DVD cases with no DVDs. When I do, I go ahead and put them away on the DVD shelf and when I find the DVD, we know where the case is. It works because that’s where I’d look for the case first.
A few minutes in and I. Can already tell this is the kind of video I need and more of them please. Thank you for being you and not trying to be like anyone else. I desperately need this. I wish this was an understatement, but it’s not. I NEEED THIS!!!
I agree. I'd love a whole series like this, too!
There are more, previous ones
I feel you, Friend -- I SOOOO need it, too. I mostly watch the vids to get inspired, but occasionally I actually do a tiny declutter before I give up and get sucked into something else.
Ok, I love how you wrote your own credits while Reid was away. The credits are always the cherry on top.
They cracked me up!

I loved you asking where she would look for an empty container and thinking, "... yeah, I bet we haven't seen the last of that container."
And I loved her finding the CDs and hearing you say, "... what about that container?" and sending her to get it - just to check.

This was such a good demonstration of the power of having a look (and WWILFTF, and TITN, the whole process.). Thank you!
All of this ☝️
TITN = titan! The strength of the process!
Well done! I'd give the puzzles pride of place and hang them on the wall. They're family heirlooms.
I was thinking the same, wondering if they were place to display them in a way that they could also be used if anyone cared too :-)!
There is never judgement when you work with a client. You just ask. Love this!
Thank you, I've decluttered three bags full of random stuff while listening to you.
Me too 😀
After having watched this exercise, I’m inspired to spend a couple hours decluttering spaces in my home!
Asking the question ‘where would I look for this item?’ is also great for putting stuff away as well as decluttering.
These “real situation” coaching videos are great. So inspiring. Please do more. ❤

Watching you teaching decluttering is so interesting Dana because it’s like you’re talking to me in my own house. Your method works so well for people with our type of brains. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved this. A real girl in a real situation. Awesome.

I love that pillows work so well for you! Who knows, perhaps I will need a pillow in my back when I am older.
I also don't sleep with a pillow but I have one on my sofa to put behind my back. Now, cat beds are a different story. I have 9 of those and only 2 cats!
Dana, you have the patience of a saint in this process and I absolutely love the credits.
Love this! Yay for the return of the “one hour better” series! So helpful to see the process in action. Love the end credits!! 😊xx
Great video. Anyone who has a problem with this video because of the editing, which looks fine to me, is probably someone not yet able to appreciate what is really important here. You help so many people; God bless.

Yes, my time passage awareness disorder is strong lol I overestimate how long things will take all the time!
My favorite series on RUclips is for sure the one hour better videos
I love seeing the process. Would like more videos like this, visually going through the steps. You did a good job editing.
Coaching changed everything!
Gives me hope, both for my own decluttering and (perhaps) coaching!
I'm hoping to move from decluttering to coaching. I feel this is my calling!
Kudos! I wish I could make the decisions as quickly as she did. She was so good at getting rid of things that she realized she wouldn't use. I still struggle with this.
This session was so great to watch.
You did a wonderful job editing Dana! I was happy to see the video cut back and she had the missing lid in her hand 😂 the process is everything!
Great example of how your process works. Thank you
Sometimes it just helps to have someone there to talk you through a tough spot.
I LOVE these "one hour better" videos!! They are soooo motivating!! Thank you for posting another one! 🌿M
Dana, You did a great job at editing. One of these days I may get someone to help me with my garage. I decluttered a bunch in there but it’s still over my threshold. Thanks for all you do.

The way that you word things is so respectful if others possible feelings & hangups...thanks for your sensitivity & inspiration
I love how you model the skills you teach - in a live session! Very helpful.
I like watching other people declutter with your guidance, because I learn so much and get ideas on how to declutter my own closets, drawers, boxes, and many bags of stuff.
Well done (both of) you!!! You were so clear and gentle working with her. Loved this example of your amazing process (that works!)! Thanks! :D
Loved seeing the process being implemented. Thank you, ladies !

Dana, don’t ever doubt yourself. You’re a Godsend
Love this! I hope you can share more sessions like this. Maybe some of your coaches will make videos as they work with clients :)
the one hour better idea I believe is the best decluttering idea anyone has had ❤
Have faith in the process!! It really does work!!
Sending love from this mama's heart to yours - I'm so happy you get to see Reid soon ❤.
You did great!! And awesome commentary at the end ala Reid 😂
Loved this virtual session! Very helpful!❤ And really enjoyed the comments at the end!😂
Hmmm?

As a (budding) professional organizer myself, it's helpful to see another professional organizer and how they (you) interact with clients. Nice job and thanks for sharing :-)
Love this video, you should post somr more, just so that we can see and get ideas how other organize their spaces. ❤
These are my favorite! More of these, please!

I love your trailer comments. And yes, it's nice to have someone to talk with while doing this.
I learn so much from watching you coach someone else. Thank you for sharing this process!
Dana have a wonderful summer! Thank you!
Dana, you did an excellent job on the editing of this video. I'm definitely motivated after watching!
Editing was great. As much as we love our children to death at some point they just may not be there. You did fabulous. Also the hands on help for this person was great as well. Keep doing what yo are doing. It helps a lot.
Way to go, Dana! Love your comments at the end. Reid has taught you a lot! 😉
That was so great to watch! You did a great job editing too :)
Great demonstration of your technique - loved that it could be done virtually as well
You've seriously changed my life. Thank you.
Great job Dana! 🎉
I had that tea set as a child ❤️☺️
Love your technique and your approach, Dana. It's so helpful for us to watch over your shoulder right in this process :)
I really enjoyed it as you show the process and how to Ask questions. Very helpful. P.s. great editing ;)
Dana, you did great in editing your video. Thanks for all you do for us. Blessings to you and your family.
It was great to see your method in progress, Dana, thanks! "Take it there now!" 😉 No worries at all about the editing. 🌷
I love this.....I was decluttering while I listened
OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO HELFUL!! I started working in my space as soon as you were helping her and get so much better ☺️☺️

Actually 4 pair of shoes!!
Reid is going to have to watch out!!! Excellent job of editing🤣🤣 Ex
you did great

Thank you Miss Dana for such super cool content! I need this❤️May GOD continue to bless you Miss Dana
This was so helpful to hear what is going on in your clients mind while you keep pulling her mind back on track!
10/10 end card Dana!
