Grand European River Cruise with Viking

- This is the result of a 14 day Viking River Cruise with an extension at both ends making for 19 days of travel. We started in The Hague, Netherlands then boarded the ship in Amsterdam. We cruised the Amsterdam / Rhine canal then on the Rhine river to the Main river. Then on the Main / Danube canal to the Danube river and on to Budapest Hungary. From Budapest we boarded a bus to Prague, Czech Republic.
I like the statue of the three pishers. Hilarious. Can you imagine that in Toronto?

I was on this cruise in November 2022. The best part was a tour to the roof of the Cologne Cathedral. For anyone going on a Viking Rhine cruise, this is worth every penny! You must sign up early as there are only 12 spots available. Cruising on the Main river was spectacular. You caught the Loons in the trees!! I loved seeing them, thousands of them! At night I would crack the door open a little and there was a faint smell of burning wood in the air. I believe it was from fireplaces of homes in the distance. I want to do this cruise again, back to back, to Budapest, then back to Amsterdam!

Glad yours worked out, we did this cruise end of March 2023, it was a total desaster with locks being repaired and water levels too high. We had 4 days cruising, and 10 days of overcrouded busses and hotel stays. Lot of sick people of whom some self tested positive for Covid, Viking just went ahead and ignored it.

When the extension at The Hague ended (Sunday), did you take the canal cruise in Amsterdam? If so, what time did it end? We want to visit Anne Frank house that afternoon. Thanks for great video of your week!
Thank you! Yes, after leaving The Hague we went sightseeing on our way to the canal cruise in Amsterdam, and then we were taken directly to the ship. We arrived to the ship around 3 or 4 pm. I'm not sure there would be time for an additional trip.
What an amazing beautiful adventure! If you don’t mind me asking, did you book this through a travel agency or directly with the cruise line? Also if not too personal, how much was the cost of the cruise? I’m looking for something to celebrate my 50th. Been through a lot these past couple years and this would be amazing to do. I booked directly from the website ( www.viking.com ). but a travel agent could do the booking for you as well. Pricing is available from the website as well, watch for specials. Viking is all inclusive so there aren't any add-ons once you are on board. If you'd like they will make flight arrangements for you as well, sometimes a very good prices.. again watch for specials. We added a pre cruise option (The Hague) and a post cruise option (Prague). Viking took care of all transportation and hotels. You will be well taken care of.

Was there a lot of walking? We are taking this same trip late April of this year?
Viking provides an included excursion for every stop. Most are walking tours of the town. Some are easy some are a little more complex with cobblestones, hills or steps. You are informed so you'll know what to expect. There are other offerings you can choose to purchase some are bus trips to other areas in the region.
What class of stateroom did you have?
Sorry for the delay.. We chose Veranda Stateroom B which is located on the middle deck.

HaHa.. maybe!! We had a great 19 days with no health issues at all!
