I said we should trade Jak and draft Edey or whatever other center is available. I'd love that #9 pick and bring Kennard back. This is a move that has to be made, as we're not in win now mode for Jak to stick around here.

I love the idea, trading for yak was horrible in hindsight, but made some sense at the time. If we can leverage the 9th pick+a consistent floor spacer for Scottie, this is a success. Hell, we might even draft the same player we would’ve taken at 7 so we barely lost anything

Something was just off in the 2022-23 season. Look at this starting roster and tell they they shouldn't have competed in the east: Jak, Siakam, Barnes, OG, FVV. NN and FVV had their minds elsewhere. Hindsight is what it is though, shit got bad real quick. The trade suggested in this video makes the Raptors even worse though so that won't happen. A trade involving Aldama would make more sense, but the Grizz won't want that.

I'm a fan of Yak and he helped the team out when we had Siakam and OG. Thing is, if he wants to be with a competitive team (which I don't blame him), he's on the older side and can be taken advantage of with team that need that ASAP. Raptors need the size, but they're not a contending team. Lots of trades are going to happen on draft night I can guarantee it!

Yeah, after going virtually centerless pre Poeltl trade the Raptors are once again looking to go centerless and put SB through what Siakam went through - make it make sense 🤦🏾‍♂. These type of reports are nothing more than facetious balderdash, unless a starting caliber center is coming back in any potential JP trade, like say a Jarrett Allen. IQ, RJ, SB, JP is a quality starting quartet and the Raptors need to find the starting piece that fits within that foursome. The Raptors can either go RJ at SG or SF and SB at SF or PF depending on what type of player the Raptors think can best maximize that aforementioned foursome's collective talents. Whether it's re-signing GTJ, signing a free agent like Patrick Williams or trading for someone else- time will tell.

That's a straight up salary dump. I see Masai doing that if he's a big believer in Edey or any center available at 9. Doubtful Memphis does that even if you include 19+31. They are hovering over the lux tax. They are more likely to dump Kennard and draft a C. Unless you switch out Kennard for Brendan Clarke + filler (Konchar?). At least, Memphis gets out of a guaranteed contract. They can dump Kennard and draft Furphy or Scheierman as cheap replacements. This wouldn't be a salary dump for Raptors as they would be stuck with injury-prone Clarke for 3 years. Might be worth it if they believe in Edey and Clarke.

The shooting didn’t improve until they got Quickley and Barrett (also helps that Gradey started to shoot well around that time). The depth is still weak, although with guys like Gradey and Kelly, plus a potential backup PG, backup SF, and a backup rim-protector, I’m optimistic that it will improve over time. Shouldn’t of used a 1st for Yak in the first place.. fans were far too clingy to Siakam and Fred..
This is what accountability looks like after betting on role players to carry a franchise.

Siakim was arguably the best player for Indiana during the playoffs. They went to the ECF

@@JPHolling I would say nembhard was their best player, but that’s up for debate.
However, context is everything.. who did Indiana beat to get to ECF? Struggled with bucks without Giannis.. struggled with Knicks without Randle, OG and Robinson, then got swept in ECF.
If you ask me, Siakam was gift wrapped the ECF appearance, not so much off skill.

@@rulz2663 Nembhard had some really good games. But I'd recommend looking at his playoff stats. Definitely not even close to as good as Siakims. I also really wanted him in the Siakim trade.
And yea I agree. They had an easy road. But I think you are really undervaluing the skill set of players like Siakim, Fred, and OG ( I know you didn't mention OG but he was a core guy) all very talented players, just didn't fit together

@@JPHolling I don’t mention OG because he was sacrificed to speed up our rebuild because we lost Fred and Siakam for nearly nothing.. Most fans wanted OG to stay.
I don’t undervalue Siakam, I just know he’s not a supermax or max player. He’s a good third option on a championship team.
Next year will tell us if Indiana’s ECF was a fluke or not.

@@rulz2663 fair enough. He isn't your ideal first option max player. But he definitely is a max player and likely a 3rd option on a championship team.
But let's face it, there's only maybe 7 to 10 first option players in this league. Almost impossible to get. And then you need to build a proper team around them.

#9 in this draft aint great. I know everyone wants a top pick bc it looks good but its not. Id rather young players like clarke so u know what ur getting. Otherwise yak n brown will go wont go. Raps rarely do what "reports" say. Otherwise wed of drafted suggs lol

you only getting clarke if you including gradey dick and 19th back to memphis. thats the whole point in that you are getting filler and 9th pick for jakob poeltl is likely overpay anyways.

also you kind of clueless, the reason why raptors are doing this is because nicola topic who is top 4 pick tore his acl and needs surgery so he is falling in the draft ranks so the raptors can likely get him at 9. but he wont play next season as he will be recovering form surgery likely. that is fine because raptors are in a 3-4 year rebuild.

@@cayl5066 the grizzlies greatest need is a 7 ft defensive center who protects the rim.
i am being realistic in you are not getting a brandon clark and 9th pick in a trade for jakob poeltl. if raptors get the 9th pick for jakob poeltl, its because they are eating salary in players the grizzlies dont want. it creates 500k in cap space also for grizzlies who will then have 1 million cap space under the luxury tax. with yuta watanabe declining his player option and going to japan, grizzlies will have about 4 million in cap space.
regardless its well known from jakob poeltl statements last summer that he didnt leave the spurs to come to another rebuilding situation as he said openly. jakob wants to compete for championships on playoff teams, and raptors wont be that for a good 3-4 years. so you know based on that, jakob poeltl is quietly asking for a trade out of toronto. its why bobby webster in his interview didnt include jakob poeltl as part of the core or name him as part of the veteran leadership moving forward. bobby only mentioned garett temple and kelly olynyk as veteran leadership moving forward.

Yet theyve made no moves. No trades. Not contact optio s. Theyve sat on the dildo and still enjoying themselves and not the job at hand. The minnesota timberwolves just got dillingham for milk and cookies. That could have been us. Or trade jacob to memphis. Now they got edey. This is pathetic. Im ok with walter. But the raptors have done nothing to make you think they are interested. They should have already resigned i.q. im embarassed.
