Having Jakob be our big man is a good fit for developing. He's great positionally, he is an excellent facilitator. He will help scottie and IQ and Grady to develop alot this year
Basically he's trying to say that the team is prioritizing development rather than winning or losing. You're not gonna see starters playing heavy minutes. You're gonna see youngsters getting double-digit minutes so that they can play through their mistakes and benefit in the long run. They're not trying to tank.

Scottie would need to make a superstar leap and lead the Raptors to the playoffs.

Personally have nothing wrong with what Jak said. If Toronto is in a hole midway through the third, they aren’t going to redline the starters to recover - and there’s nothing wrong with that with this team. Jak is a huge part of this team and should be held onto, we shouldn’t make any drastic move unless it’s for a piece that has that defensive capability and is high-level development material - like a Walker Kessler.
Lol. I think its more a case of what Jak experienced unders Nurse coaching. NN gave run only to the established players to focus on winning and had a lack of/unwillingness to develop younger guys. Thats the quiet part he said out loud. Tbh i really think Raps not making noise this year with this roster, but will be making strides in development. 7th seed ceiling my gut tells me, for Scottie and the cores sake but my mind is settled on the tank lol. I not talking about younger either because I think we will need a younger one at some point but who is available and better. He has been a top 5 anchor for years now, he has lead the league in DFG%, he alters shots and is vocal on that end. He leads the league in fg% generally and always very high point per posession in pick and roll with his pg. Him and Fred actually lead the league down the stretch in his first year here but aparently he can't roll at all? (He clearly can, he just doesn't dunk it.. ) he one of the better passers at his position and fits in Darkos offence acting as a hub, he is actually quite pivotal to it.. similar to a Sabonis who is clearly key to their offence. (Not saying he is Jokic either) hr actually rebounds at the same rate as Jokic too, just has played less minutes per game. He sets hard screens and is big enough to atleast be in front of the True bigs of the league (VERY FEW CENTERS WHO CAN DO EVEN THAT). He just can't shoot 3s or FT's, for sure flaws of his, slow footed on the perimeter (Not nearly as bad as people act, he has good instincts and knows where to be positionally). So with all this knowledge you just learned about.. tell us why Yak is so bad other than age? Explain how he sn't a quality Center. He does all the Important things a Center should do and he is Elite at the most important things a Center should do.. so what's the issue. Be curious to hear your insight 😂

Thats what I been saying is the perfect season. Losing vlose competitive games where we don't run starters into the ground and the young guys develop (basivally whole team) while maintaining team morale. Not the most exciting season but the offence will be cool to watch and witness the team grow. See how Darko does with healthy players and hope some youngins land as good picks. Could be worse.. could be the Wizards

Sorry to say this rj Barrett will get traded eventually I don’t think it will be in a year or even 2 but he will be a trade chip in a bigger trade cause his contract is to big his not a number 1 probably not even a 2 and quickley and Barnes seem to be the cornerstones of the franchise and Masai and the raptors have made that clear Barrett has never been mentioned as being a corner stone of this rebuild everybody knows this rj would need to take a big pay cut on his next contract to stay a raptor for 4-5 more years

Portal needs to be traded before he gets hurt again. He still has value by not trading him his value will only go down. He is injury prone and raptors best case scenario is play in. Why not trade him be bar for one more season have a chance at Cooper Flag or another really good draft pick. Then really compete the following season. Raptors got some really good draft picks this last draft but they are going to take a full season of developing before they are ready the following season. Keeping Portal hurts Raptors chances of getting really good and keeps Raptors in mediocrity. Also trade Brown and very quickly Raptors could have a super deep lineup. Chromache I believe has potential to be a star in the league he is Raptors future for centre but he is super young and got started late in basketball. He is super athletic with incredible motor he has everything you need to be the next Greek Freak. It's just going to take time to develop him. Raptors are one really good draft pick away from being something special but they are hurting themselves by holding on too both Portal and Brown who are big injury risks and don't fit the timeline of what Raptors are trying to do

It’s possible to develop players and win games. The Raptors will be good.
The minimum standard is to be competitive; that shouldn’t be the goal. If that’s their goal, then it’s a tank.
